We are building the next generation of Meter hardware, and this role sits at the center of that execution.
We are hiring a Hardware Program Manager to drive the development of our hardware from concept through mass production. This role is not just about tracking timelines; it’s about owning the end-to-end execution of complex programs, aligning cross-functional teams, and ensuring that every detail—from system architecture to manufacturing readiness—is thoughtfully planned and delivered. You will work closely with our JDM partners and internal teams to translate ideas into shipped products, balancing speed, quality, and performance.
Your work will directly shape how reliably and efficiently we bring new hardware to market, helping us scale our product portfolio while maintaining the high standards our customers expect.

WHAT YOUR DAY-TO-DAY WILL LOOK LIKE
You won’t just be managing spreadsheets—you’ll be at the heart of our hardware ecosystem, surrounded by the very tech we’re pioneering. Your day-to-day is a blend of high-level strategy and deep-dive technical problem solving.
- Own the Lifecycle: You’ll be the pulse of our hardware programs, driving execution from the first EVT prototype through DVT and PVT with a relentless focus on hitting milestones without compromising quality.
- Bridge the Gap with JDM Partners: Act as our primary technical voice with JDM partners, collaborating on everything from core system architecture and requirements to the nitty-gritty of build schedules.
- Champion the "How" and "When": You’ll lead program reviews that people actually look forward to—surfacing risks early, smashing through blockers, and ensuring everyone on the team knows exactly where the goalposts are.
- The Ultimate Collaborator: You’ll work shoulder-to-shoulder with mechanical and firmware engineers, diving into design reviews and validation plans to ensure our hardware is as robust as it is innovative.

WHO YOU ARE

COMPENSATION

WHY THIS ROLE EXISTS
Network engineers carry the most valuable signal in the world in their heads, and it disappears the moment they close a ticket.
Your job is to build the system that captures that signal so that our models can learn to think like network engineers.
If you get this right, Meter can manage thousands of customers’ networks autonomously, without adding a single engineer.
THE PROBLEM YOU’RE WALKING INTO
LLMs are good at code because of their access to Git. Commit messages explain why a change was made, PR threads capture expert disagreement, issue trackers record dead ends and eventual fixes. Models trained on that corpus of data don’t just pattern-match, they’ve seen millions of examples of human reasoning through problems.
Network engineering has none of this. When a network engineer looks at a set of device stats and figures out it’s upstream packet loss — not a hardware failure, not a misconfiguration, specifically upstream packet loss — that reasoning lives in their head. Never in a place a model can learn from.
You will build the Git and Github for network engineering. A structured, queryable record of what the network looked like, what the expert notice, and why they made the call they made.
WHAT YOU WILL SHIP
First 30 days
Sit with our network engineers and watch how they work. Don’t touch code yet. Understand what a great diagnostic reasoning record actually looks like and what data you’ll need to build one. Map the existing landscape: telemetry in ClickHouse, configs in Postgres, support history in Salesforce.
60 days in
Ship a working v1 of the annotation interface. Network engineers should be able to open a historical support ticket, see what the network looked like at the time of the incident, and log their diagnostic reasoning against it. It doesn’t have to be elegant, it has to be useful enough for engineers to want to use it.
90 days in
Our network engineers are generating training data independently without engineering support. The first model benchmarks built from the pipeline are running and you can point to a number knowing the model improved because of what you shipped.

WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH
Our co-founder and CEO will lead the product roadmap.
In addition to your customers, network engineers, you’ll partner closely with two research engineers who have deep ML backgrounds and a clear picture of what training data needs to look like. They’re excited to have a partner in building the app.
MEASURING SUCCESS
- Within 90 days, Network engineers are generating training data independently, without pinging you
- We have a large set of high-quality annotated cases in the pipeline
- Model benchmark scores are moving in the right direction because of the data this pipeline produced

A Network is most vulnerable during deployment - and each stakeholder plays an essential role to ensure it’s built as performance and resilient critical infrastructure. Meter dedicates a team to each stakeholder, ensuring our product and work empowers stakeholders to do operationally and technically sound work at scale. In this role, you'll own the live technical execution of enterprise network deployments. By partnering directly with field technicians in real time, troubleshooting issues as they happen, and building the systems and tools that make installations effortless, you'll ensure every customer network is successfully brought online.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
Your fingerprints will be on every installation, shaping the technician experience and driving the scale Meter needs to reach utility status. In your first six months, you will:
- Become the technical escalation point: Independently resolve the majority of live deployment networking issues, reducing escalations to Deployment Engineering and keeping installations on schedule.
- Keep projects on track: Deliver >90% of installations on time by partnering with field technicians, unblocking issues in real time, and ensuring customer networks are successfully brought online.
- Raise quality standards: Reduce rework rates <5% and ensure compliance with installation artifacts and validation checks.
- Accelerate installs: Partner with Operations Engineering to roll out automated technician tooling that cuts install validation times by 30%.
WHAT YOUR DAY-TO-DAY WILL LOOK LIKE
From day one, you'll own the live technical execution of enterprise network deployments. A typical week might include:
- Acting as the technical lead on the live install thread: Running pre-install prep calls with technicians, deciding what gets resolved on the call vs. escalated to Wired or Wireless Deployment Engineering, and owning the shift handoff so context never drops.
- Real-time troubleshooting of issues mid-install: ISP circuit turn-up, native VLAN mismatches, trunk vs. access port config on AP uplinks, DHCP reservations and inter-VLAN routing, IPSec tunnel failures, HA firewall failover, DAC cable issues on backup uplinks, and more.
- Owning sign-off as the final technical gate before a customer network goes live: Clearing the Dashboard Issues page, confirming all hardware (firewalls, switches, APs, PDUs) is online and on the current NOS, validating ISP quality and HA failover, executing VLAN auto-config, and signing off in the deployment thread. No network activates without you.
- Keeping installs moving: Documenting progress across active deployments, pushing updates to technical project managers and stakeholders, and proactively surfacing blockers before they slip.
- Closing the feedback loop: Identifying recurring failure patterns and partnering with Operations Engineering to ship new playbooks, tooling, or product fixes.
- Building for the field: Translating technician insights into hardware and software improvements so our product is purpose-built for how installs actually happen.
WHERE THIS ROLE CAN TAKE YOU
In year two, you could design automated validation tools that remove manual install steps, lead the rollout of new technician onboarding programs that cut ramp time in half, and shape product improvements that fundamentally change how installations are done in the industry. Through all this, you’ll continue to provide a great experience with Meter for our Installation Partner Technicians. Your work will directly define how Meter scales installation quality and speed worldwide.

To achieve our mission, we must ensure our network deployments are designed for performance and scale, as well as executed flawlessly. As a Deployment Engineer, you will be responsible for translating customer requirements to fully designed wireless networks using Meter’s in-house tooling. You’ll lead all technical decisions throughout the design and deployment phases, and support our customers through network turn-up and validation. Your expertise will directly impact the efficiency of our deployments and the satisfaction of our customers, enabling Meter to scale and meet the growing demand for reliable internet infrastructure.
YOU WILL HAVE AN IMPACT BY
- Designing performant and resilient networks: You will create wireless network designs using Meter’s in-house toolkit.
- Leading critical technical decisions: You will lead technical network decisions during design and deployment phases until network go-live and validation are complete.
- Supporting network turn-up: You will troubleshoot and support critical devices and network functionality during the network turn-up phase, ensuring a seamless experience for customers.

WHAT YOUR DAY-TO-DAY WILL LOOK LIKE
From day one, you'll own the live technical execution of enterprise network deployments. A typical week might include:
- Acting as the technical lead on the live install thread: Running pre-install prep calls with technicians, deciding what gets resolved on the call vs. escalated to Wired or Wireless Deployment Engineering, and owning the shift handoff so context never drops.
- Real-time troubleshooting of issues mid-install: ISP circuit turn-up, native VLAN mismatches, trunk vs. access port config on AP uplinks, DHCP reservations and inter-VLAN routing, IPSec tunnel failures, HA firewall failover, DAC cable issues on backup uplinks, and more.
- Owning sign-off as the final technical gate before a customer network goes live: Clearing the Dashboard Issues page, confirming all hardware (firewalls, switches, APs, PDUs) is online and on the current NOS, validating ISP quality and HA failover, executing VLAN auto-config, and signing off in the deployment thread. No network activates without you.
- Keeping installs moving: Documenting progress across active deployments, pushing updates to technical project managers and stakeholders, and proactively surfacing blockers before they slip.
- Closing the feedback loop: Identifying recurring failure patterns and partnering with Operations Engineering to ship new playbooks, tooling, or product fixes.
- Building for the field: Translating technician insights into hardware and software improvements so our product is purpose-built for how installs actually happen.
WHERE THIS ROLE CAN TAKE YOU
In year two, you could design automated validation tools that remove manual install steps, lead the rollout of new technician onboarding programs that cut ramp time in half, and shape product improvements that fundamentally change how installations are done in the industry. Through all this, you’ll continue to provide a great experience with Meter for our Installation Partner Technicians. Your work will directly define how Meter scales installation quality and speed worldwide.
WHO YOU ARE
You thrive on solving complex networking problems in real time and making order out of chaos. You have strong Layer 2 and Layer 3 troubleshooting skills and excel in fast-moving environments where every deployment is different. You enjoy owning technical decisions during live deployments and keeping installations moving when unexpected challenges arise. You're comfortable partnering directly with field technicians, translating technical concepts into clear guidance, and making sound decisions when the path forward isn't immediately obvious. Beyond troubleshooting, you think systematically, identifying recurring operational pain points and building scalable processes, tooling, and documentation that make future deployments more reliable.
We are building towards 24/7 coverage. To that end, we are hiring across four shifts: Monday-Friday, Tuesday-Saturday, Sunday-Thursday, and Thursday-Monday. In your application, please note your preferences across these shifts.
COMPENSATION
- The estimated base salary for this role is between $100,000 - $170,000.
- Additionally, this role is eligible to participate in Meter's equity plan.
