Deliver the best firewall, routing, and SD-WAN solution on the market by working with brilliant, hard-working, and experienced engineers. This role comes with significant responsibility, autonomy, and direct impact on customer outcomes. Specifically, you will work on features for our firewall, such as Site-to-Site VPN (thousands of hubs and spokes), ACLs, BGP over WAN, BGP over AutoVPN, DNS security, IDS/IPS, etc.
Zooming out, Meter is a vertically integrated stack from ISP, Firewall, Routing, SD-WAN, Security, Wireless, Switching, Mobile, and Power. This vertical integration allows us to deliver great networking and outcomes for our customers.
Meter’s goal is to build the best-in-class product for each platform and that only happens when our hardware and software teams work together.
Meter’s architecture is modular at every layer, and this is what allows us to build products and features at a very high velocity (OS, firmware, data plane, control plane, backend/API, and Dashboard/UI/UX). You need to have a thorough understanding of routing, ACLs, NAT, BGP, OSPF, and packet policy.
WHAT YOUR DAY-TO-DAY WILL LOOK LIKE
Meter is a fast-moving environment, and we invest heavily in doers.
In your day-to-day, you will be working with firewall firmware engineers to design features and weigh in the tradeoffs, understand and organize requests from the support team, triage bugs found by the Quality Engineering (QE) team, join QBR calls with a customer, and plan a weekly roadmap with our cofounder.
You should be ready to override your past experiences regarding architecture, feature velocity, team collaboration, and product quality.
You will collaborate with the backend team building our APIs, frontend team building our Dashboard, and models team building our autonomous model. You’re expected to learn how these layers work in the first 12 months at Meter.
You will collaborate with the QE team to make sure what we release is exceptionally stable and easy to deploy.
Every discussion you have, every decision you make, should be in service of customer outcomes.
WHO YOU ARE
You've built products in the enterprise security or networking industry, and you deeply understand how IT administrators and network engineers use products. You know the difficulties managing firewall policies across thousands of devices in critical environments.
But more than domain knowledge, what makes someone exceptional in this role is how they work with people and understand customer pain points. You communicate with clarity across technical and non-technical audiences, and bring teams into alignment without needing formal authority. You've shipped incrementally, learned from imperfect v1s, and kept a team pointed in the same direction even when the problem got messier than expected.
You don't need a fully defined playbook to get started. You see a customer's need and run toward it.
To be successful at Meter, you need to have the ability to absorb information quickly, learn fast, make quick decisions, experiment readily, keep an open mind, and work as a team without exception.
WHY METER
The internet runs the world. Every purchase you make, video call you join — it's all packets flowing through networks. But those networks haven't changed for decades. They're brittle, complex, and surprisingly hard to set up in an enterprise space.
We started Meter to build better networks. We had to build everything from the ground up: designing and building our own enterprise hardware, intuitive software, and streamlined operations to deliver great outcomes for our customers. Today, we build and deploy these networks at scale. Ambitious companies and enduring institutions like Bridgewater, Lyft, and Reddit rely on Meter to keep their thousands of employees and locations online and productive.
Our bet is simple: We will all use the internet more than we do today. We have the definitive networking stack to enable businesses to do so as seamlessly and reliably as any modern utility.
COMPENSATION
- The estimated base salary for this role is between $205,000 – $275,000.
- Additionally, this role is eligible to participate in Meter's equity plan.

Sales, Channel - Strategic Partners (Northwest)
Meter · United States
Pay
$133k–180k
Setting
Remote
Meter is at an inflection point. Our team has built a vertically integrated internet networking infrastructure solution across hardware, software, operations and service that makes it incredibly easy for businesses of all sizes to connect to the internet quickly and reliably. We’re on a mission to disrupt the networking industry, a space where the top 5 players have a combined valuation of over half a trillion dollars. Our vision is to evolve the internet into a utility.
Now that our product team has done the hard work of building a truly disruptive product, it is time for sales to drive the company forward, and partners will be one of our biggest force multipliers in our go-to-market strategy. We’ve already seen early signs that the Channel is going to be one of our biggest levers for growth, establishing relationships with names you’ll recognize like CDW, World Wide Technology, Microsoft and more.
The work in building the Channel is far from done. We are looking for someone who will accelerate the growth of Meter’s sales through the Channel in the Northwest region, by building, executing and scaling the partner ecosystem, specifically within the realm of Value-Added Resellers, or VARs.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
Within your first 6 months, you will:
- Create a business plan that enables Meter to scale effectively through partners in the Pacific Northwest region.
- Develop an enablement strategy to attract, develop and grow relationships with targeted partners that can bring outsized value to Meter.
- Drive deal registrations and closed won revenue within our named partners.
- Build, own and scale a partner enablement program for named partners.
WHAT YOUR DAY-TO-DAY WILL LOOK LIKE
From day one, you will own the Channel business through our VARs and partners in the Northwest region. Your days will consist of:
- Diligently hunting down and onboarding new VARs and partners in the region.
- Meeting virtually and in-person with key existing VAR contacts, both channel reps and regional leadership, to strengthen relationships and uncover deal opportunities.
- Identify target verticals and accounts where partners already have existing relationships and influence.
- Actively track and drive deal registrations through to closed-won revenue alongside Meter’s direct Sales team.
- Align with Meter’s internal Sales, Product and Marketing teams to ensure regional channel strategy is in line with company-wide priorities.
- Monitor and analyze partner pipeline metrics, identifying bottlenecks or high-leverage activities.
- Delivering ongoing training and enablement to partners, making sure they’re up to date on Meter’s offerings, roadmap and competitive positioning.
- Hitting the road to get in front of customers and partners in person for training sessions, lunch-and-learns and technical overviews
- Representing Meter at partner events, trade shows and joint customer meetings, as well as organizing and hosting our own Meter-sponsored events to deepen engagement and generate pipeline.
- Forecasting channel-driven revenue and reporting on progress against targets with Meter’s Sales leadership.
WHO YOU ARE
- You have a growth mindset and think BIG - you know how to leverage the Channel, but can envision an even better future state and help us get there by acquiring new partnerships, while still managing existing ones.
- You’ve got extensive experience working with Channel Partners, Value-Added Resellers (VARs) & MSPs, and have meaningful existing relationships with partners in the Northwest market, particularly in the San Francisco Bay Area.
- Ideally, this experience has been in the technology or internet infrastructure industry.
- You have a track record of driving positive results, like pipeline, deal registrations and closed won revenue through partners that has allowed you and the sales teams you’ve supported to overachieve on their OTEs.
- You’ve engaged with partners at both the individual contributor and leadership levels.
- You’ve got past experience as a successful Mid-Market or Enterprise seller.
- You can present confidently to any and all stakeholders both virtually and in-person.
- You’re comfortable with 50%+ travel to get in front of partners and customers directly and through events to increase Meter’s brand awareness and generate pipeline.
- You're based in the Northwest, ideally in a major metropolitan area like San Francisco or Seattle, and live close to a major airport.

Regulatory Counsel

REGULATORY COUNSEL
San Francisco, CA · In-Office (Hybrid)
ABOUT METER
Meter’s mission is to make the internet a utility: a world where any business can turn on reliable, secure, enterprise-grade internet at any physical location as easily as it turns on power or water. Getting there is genuinely hard, because internet and networking have become deeply fragmented and crystallized. So Meter does the whole thing: we design and manufacture our own networking hardware, procure and manage ISPs, design, configure, and physically install networks, operate and monitor them once they’re live, and are working toward running them autonomously.
Put differently, Meter is a hardware company, a software and models company, an internet service provider, an installer, and a real estate business, all at once.
WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS
Each one of those businesses carries its own body of regulation and ethics questions. And you’ll be the lawyer who clears the path so Meter can rapidly and responsibly enter new business and geographic markets. You’ll guide Meter in becoming an ISP in the US, Canada, UK, EU, Australia, and the rest of world; shape how Meter responsibly handles data and builds AI; build and manage Meter’s international risk compliance program; work with compliance engineering to clear our hardware through FCC and safety reviews; and manage day-to-day employment and safety matters.
This is a founding role, reporting to the General Counsel and based in San Francisco. It is among the broadest regulatory remits you’ll find in-house, and you’ll be building it from the early days rather than inheriting a machine someone else made.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Learn to be Meter’s telecom lawyer, guiding our path to becoming an ISP across the US, Canada, UK, EU, Australia and rest of world.
- Methodically build Meter’s international risk compliance program (across FCPA, export controls, CFIUS, and sanctions), and project-manage entry into each new international market end-to-end.
- Practically advise the business on basic B2B data privacy, GDPR, and CCPA compliance work, while partnering closely with our CISO to enable Meter’s privacy-as-a-product strategy.
- Be our Marketing Team’s counsel as Meter’s brand scales, clearing advertising claims and campaign copy, structuring sweepstakes and promotions, papering event and sponsorship deals, and protecting how the Meter name and marks get used.
- Build Meter's vendor risk program, starting with the installers who physically deploy our networks, from diligence through contracting and ongoing oversight.
- Serve as product counsel, supporting Meter’s compliance engineers on FCC and safety questions across our hardware.
- Counsel our ML and AI teams on training, building, and deploying their models responsibly and safely.
- Work with Meter’s People and Facilities Teams to handle day-to-day employment, safety, and OSHA matters.
- Support with dispute management and litigation and build thoughtful, repeatable, defensible compliance processes and policies alongside the General Counsel.
HOW YOU’LL DO IT
- You learn fast and are energized, not intimidated, by regulatory regimes you’ve never worked with. Getting smart quickly on an unfamiliar body of law should be the part of the job you’re drawn to.
- Your advice is grounded in the statute and in how it’s actually enforced. It’s practical and risk-adjusted, but anchored in the law and what regulators and courts truly care about, not instinct alone.
- You have strong, tested risk frameworks and principles. You weigh the probability of harm against magnitude against the cost of the fix, and you design cost-justified solutions to the risk that actually matters.
- You rarely just say “no” but also can draw a line. You show the path to “yes,” and its cost, so the business can make an informed call, and you know the rare moments that warrant slowing it down.
- You’re principled and high-integrity. You hold a high bar for honesty and ethics, and you expect the same of the business, its partners, and its suppliers.
- You’re commercially sharp, low-ego, and kind. The work is hard and long-term; that ethos is what makes it sustainable and fun.
WHERE THIS CAN GO
This is one of two cornerstone legal hires; you'd be lawyer #2 or #3. If you love operating with autonomy and have the judgment to make sound calls every day, you'll build trust fast and become someone the business can't move without. As Meter's regulatory surface area grows, so will the seat: more programs to run, and a team to build and lead. And you’ll get to do it on a small, rigorous legal team that takes its work (but not itself) seriously.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- A J.D. from a top law school and experience at a top law firm.
- In-house regulatory experience.
- Member in good standing of at least one state bar.
COMPENSATION
We think about Meter’s compensation as a combination of salary, equity, benefits, and the experience of doing the best work of your career alongside a talented team.
- The estimated salary range for this role is $172,000 - $275,000.
- Additionally, this role is eligible to participate in Meter’s equity plan.
The salary range represents the low and high end of the range for this role in the Bay Area. The actual offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, and experience.

Each of those businesses has to be sold, structured, and signed. You'll close the material revenue contracts that keep the lights on and fund Meter's most ambitious work, bring creative structure to our most strategic deals, and be who Sales, Finance, and the CEO come to when a deal has to get done. You'll own Meter's entire commercial motion end-to-end: enterprise sales agreements and SLAs, reseller and partner deals, the real estate licenses that let us pre-install Meter hardware in buildings, the supply chain and installer agreements that enable Meter's business, and the vendor and marketing contracts that keep the business moving. And as that motion grows in volume and geography, you won't just close today's deals; you'll stand up the commercial legal function, from templates and playbooks to the CLM, that makes every future deal faster, cleaner, and more repeatable.
This is a founding role, reporting to the General Counsel and based in San Francisco.
WHAT YOU’LL OWN
- Develop a deep understanding of Meter’s products and services, go-to-market and sales strategy, and mission. Know not just what we sell, but how Meter wins.
- Draft, structure, negotiate, and close Meter’s material customer agreements and SLAs across every Sales Team, grounding each commitment in real engineering and product plans.
- Paper the rest of the GTM motion: Meter’s channel agreements (MSP, VAR, distributor, and referral), plus the contracts and tooling that let partners sell and deliver Meter.
- Negotiate and close Meter’s pre-installation agreements: the property licenses and access rights that let us install our hardware in buildings.
- Build a legal supply chain function, negotiating and closing the supplier, manufacturing, and logistics agreements behind the hardware we design and build.
- Independently manage the contracting process for your deals, from scoping to execution, partnering with nearly every team at Meter: Sales, Finance, Security, Engineering, Product, and Deployment.
- Be the fast lane for everything else, from NDAs to recruiting agreements to the one-off transactions of a fast-growing global business, so no one waits on legal.
- Stand up and run Meter’s CLM, owning the contract lifecycle from intake to signature to renewal.
- Build the templates, playbooks, and repeatable processes that bring calm and predictability to Sales, let them handle routine contracting without a lawyer in the loop, and make every next deal close faster, even as volume and geography grow.
- Be a true partner to Sales and Finance leaders and the friendly face of Meter Commercial Legal. They should know, in their bones, that you want the deal done as much as they do.
HOW YOU’LL DO IT
- You’re a dealmaker at heart. Fast, responsive, client-obsessed, and energized by working shoulder to shoulder with intense sales teams, you thrive under pressure and love closing a critical revenue contract quickly and without drama.
- You’re a precise, creative drafter who takes pride in the craft, writing clear, pragmatic contracts and finding the path to a solution instead of the easy way out.
- You’re a tactful, friendly, high-integrity negotiator, in writing and across the table. You know which terms to defend and which to trade, with empathy for both your team and the counterparty, which is what closes deals that hold up.
- You’re a builder, not just a closer. You don’t just close deals fast; you make them easier to close for everyone, building the templates, playbooks, and tooling that speed up the next one.
- You’re a relentless project manager and communicator. You chase down inputs from every team a deal touches, set aggressive but realistic deadlines that you meet (and usually beat), and drive deals to signature with a dozen things competing for your attention.
- You have strong judgment and a bias against over-lawyering. You make independent calls with conviction and size the real risk instead of rabbit-holing on theoretical risk or over-negotiating against yourself.
- You’re fluent in how the business works. You understand Meter’s products, services, and channel well enough to run complex deals and grasp what we’re pulling off, or, if you don’t yet, you’ll nerd out and learn it fast.
- You’re low-ego, kind, assume best intentions, and in it for the long haul.
WHERE THIS CAN GO
This is one of two cornerstone legal hires; you'd be lawyer #2 or #3. If you love deftly closing deals that are good for Meter, and building the systems that make the next deal faster, you'll earn the trust of our Sales, Finance, and Product teams and become a lawyer the business can't imagine operating without. As Meter's business grows, so will the seat: bigger, more strategic deals to close, and a team to build and lead. And you'll do it on a small, rigorous legal team that takes its work (but not itself) seriously.

Data Analyst
Meter · San Francisco, California, United States
Pay
$190k–270k
Setting
Hybrid
Meter sells networks the way utilities sell power: as something that just works. Behind that promise is a business growing fast across enterprise customers, multi-site deployments, and a partner ecosystem.
Right now, the data that runs the business is scattered across a dozen systems that don't talk to each other. This role fixes that.
WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS
Every important decision at Meter — where to spend marketing dollars, which accounts to prioritize, how to forecast next quarter — is only as good as the data underneath it. Today, that data is fragmented across Salesforce, HubSpot, Stripe, ad platforms, partner systems, and product telemetry, and every team rebuilds its own version of the truth. We need one person to own the layer that turns those signals into something the company can actually run on.
WHAT YOU'LL DO IN YOUR FIRST SIX MONTHS
- Ship canonical dbt models for accounts, opportunities, marketing touches, and revenue that finance, sales, and marketing all use — replacing the four versions of "ARR by segment" floating around today.
- Cut the time it takes the marketing team to answer "is this channel working" from a week of manual reconciliation to a query.
- Build the attribution and funnel layer that lets us actually compare the cost of acquiring a customer through partners versus paid versus outbound.
- Become the person GTM leadership goes to when they don't trust a number — and the person whose work makes that question rarer over time.
WHAT YOU'LL DO IN YOUR FIRST YEAR
While you're picking up quick wins, the first few months are about laying the foundation. The next are about using it.
You'll embed with finance during forecasting cycles and with marketing during budget planning. You'll be in the room when sales leadership is debating territory coverage. The business models you built in month four will be the substrate for an attribution rebuild in month nine. By the end of year one, you'll have set the standard for analytical rigor at Meter; the bar that the next five analysts we hire will be measured against.
WHAT A TYPICAL WEEK LOOKS LIKE
Monday morning you're pairing with a marketing lead on why their LinkedIn spend report doesn't match what finance recognized last quarter. Tuesday you're shipping a dbt PR that consolidates three definitions of "active customer" into one. Wednesday you're in the forecast review, watching the head of sales argue about coverage ratios, and you realize the underlying data has a fanout problem you can fix by Friday. Thursday is deeper IC work: designing the schema for a new partner data source. Friday you're reviewing a teammate's model and writing the test that catches the next regression before it ships.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- You've been the analytical partner inside a GTM function — not just the analyst who delivered reports to one. You've sat in pipeline reviews, argued about attribution definitions, and built dashboards that executives actually use.
- You write SQL the way most people write English. You reach for window functions, CTEs, and set operations without thinking. You can read someone else's 200-line query and find the bug in ten minutes.
- You think in dbt. You have opinions about staging vs. marts, when to use incremental models, and what belongs in a snapshot. You've designed schemas that survived contact with a changing business.
- You've worked across Salesforce, billing systems, marketing platforms, and product data, and you understand how they're each subtly wrong in their own way.
- You can take "is our marketing spend working?" and turn it into a structured analysis with a clear, defensible answer — including what you're not sure about.
- You build trust before you ship models. You know the dashboard nobody uses is worse than no dashboard at all.
- You have deep experience with one or more of the following: Snowflake, BigQuery, Tableau, or other modern data stacks.
WHY METER?
The internet runs the world. Every purchase you make, video call you join, it's all packets flowing through networks. But those networks haven’t changed for decades. They’re brittle, complex, and surprisingly hard to set up in an enterprise space.

Partner Technical Enablement
Meter · San Francisco, California, United States
Pay
$175k–205k
Setting
Hybrid
Meter is a channel-first company. Every deal we win goes through a partner, which means it is critical for every partner to be fully trained and enabled on Meter.
We recently announced we’re expanding our investment with the launch of our Partner Growth Fund: a $100 million commitment available to qualified partners for partner-sourced opportunities, customer migrations, training, enablement, co-marketing, and development. This is the first installment of what we expect to invest in the channel over the next decade.
Enablement programs are a core component of the Partner Growth Fund. Enterprise networking is on the edge of a generational shift, moving towards solutions like Meter. The partners who are ready to meet that moment—with the right solution and the right support behind them—are the ones who will define the next decade of enterprise networking. Our enablement programs aim to help our partners feel prepared and ready to meet this wave of network refreshes.
Many sales engineers in the channel have been selling networking products the same way for decades. They’re certified on incumbent platforms, comfortable with what they know, and skeptical of anything that sounds like an empty pitch. Before a partner’s technical teams will recommend Meter, they need to validate it themselves and feel confident standing behind it as a solution.
This Partner Technical Enablement role exists to convert every partner technical team into Meter evangelists. You’ll build the technical training, demo environments, lab infrastructure, and field-ready content that turns skeptical engineers into Meter advocates.
What success looks like
In the first six months, you’ll:
- Launch our technical training track, starting with the first series of an in-person partner lab hosted in San Francisco. This course will build Meter champions, while enabling partner SEs to scope and validate network designs without needing a Meter SE on every call.
- Evolve the technical training track, expanding to satellite locations around the US.
- Upgrade lab infrastructure to match real multi-site, multi-stack deployments—so when a partner engineer walks through a demo, it looks like their environment
- Ship the next six episodes of Meter Pulse on a consistent schedule, owning scripting, pre-production, and technical validation end-to-end.
- Support technical content creation owned by the marketing team, ensuring all content reflects current products, and architecture. Audit and update collateral in the Meter Partner Portal to ensure the same.
What your day-to-day will look like
This role doesn’t have a typical week. Some weeks are content production-heavy: filming, writing lab guides, building training modules in Meter Learn, and configuring demo networks. Other weeks are field-heavy: delivering a live training for a partner’s SE team, presenting at a conference, or staffing the technical station at a partner expo. Most weeks are a mix of both. Here’s a sample week you may experience at Meter:
- Monday: You’ll be building a vertical-specific demo environment for an upcoming Meter event
- Tuesday: You’ll be scripting an episode for Meter Pulse, our short-form content series, while configuring hardware in the lab
- Wednesday: You are presenting at a partner event, answering technical questions from engineers who’ve been in the industry for 20 years.
- Thursday: Work with our Partner Enablement Program Manager to discuss the registration and promotion strategy for our upcoming in person training sessions. Working with product marketing to review new vertical-focused sales resources for partners.
- Friday: Spend the day working with our videographer and operations team to film a video demonstration of a traditional Meter deployment.
Who you are
You’ve spent a significant time in enterprise networking—designing, deploying, and troubleshooting. You know the difference between a clean lab setup and a production network at a 50-location company, and you can build content that respects that difference.
You’ve been in a partner-facing or field-facing technical role (SE, TME, technical trainer) where you had to earn credibility with engineers who know the incumbents cold and weren’t impressed by marketing language. You’ve built content those engineers actually used: lab guides, demo environments, training courses, technical videos that helped someone do their job better.
Specifically:
- Expertise in enterprise networking: LAN/WAN, switching, routing, wireless, and security—you can go deep in a technical Q&A and hold your ground
- You’ve built high-fidelity technical content from scratch (lab guides, LMS modules, recorded demos) at pace, not just occasionally
- You’re as comfortable presenting to 50 people at a conference as you are working one-on-one with an engineer deciding if Meter is worth their trust
Ideally:
- Experience in a partner-facing technical role: you know how to talk to a CDW SE differently than a 10-person TA, and you adjust to the audience naturally
- You understand the channel landscape: VARs, MSPs, TSDs, TAs, distis, resellers, and how each one thinks about onboarding a new vendor
- Instructional design experience or prior work building multi-stage technical training tracks is a plus

We are building the next generation of Meter hardware, and this role sits at the center of that execution.

WHY THIS ROLE EXISTS
Network engineers carry the most valuable signal in the world in their heads, and it disappears the moment they close a ticket.
Your job is to build the system that captures that signal so that our models can learn to think like network engineers.
If you get this right, Meter can manage thousands of customers’ networks autonomously, without adding a single engineer.
THE PROBLEM YOU’RE WALKING INTO
LLMs are good at code because of their access to Git. Commit messages explain why a change was made, PR threads capture expert disagreement, issue trackers record dead ends and eventual fixes. Models trained on that corpus of data don’t just pattern-match, they’ve seen millions of examples of human reasoning through problems.
Network engineering has none of this. When a network engineer looks at a set of device stats and figures out it’s upstream packet loss — not a hardware failure, not a misconfiguration, specifically upstream packet loss — that reasoning lives in their head. Never in a place a model can learn from.
You will build the Git and Github for network engineering. A structured, queryable record of what the network looked like, what the expert notice, and why they made the call they made.
WHAT YOU WILL SHIP
First 30 days
Sit with our network engineers and watch how they work. Don’t touch code yet. Understand what a great diagnostic reasoning record actually looks like and what data you’ll need to build one. Map the existing landscape: telemetry in ClickHouse, configs in Postgres, support history in Salesforce.
60 days in
Ship a working v1 of the annotation interface. Network engineers should be able to open a historical support ticket, see what the network looked like at the time of the incident, and log their diagnostic reasoning against it. It doesn’t have to be elegant, it has to be useful enough for engineers to want to use it.
90 days in
Our network engineers are generating training data independently without engineering support. The first model benchmarks built from the pipeline are running and you can point to a number knowing the model improved because of what you shipped.
TECH STACK
TypeScript, React, Go, GraphQL, Kafka, Postgres.
WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH
Our co-founder and CEO will lead the product roadmap.
In addition to your customers, network engineers, you’ll partner closely with two research engineers who have deep ML backgrounds and a clear picture of what training data needs to look like. They’re excited to have a partner in building the app.
MEASURING SUCCESS
- Within 90 days, Network engineers are generating training data independently, without pinging you
- We have a large set of high-quality annotated cases in the pipeline
- Model benchmark scores are moving in the right direction because of the data this pipeline produced
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
You’ve built backend systems end-to-end and made real architectural decisions with real consequences. You have opinions about data storage that come from having made the wrong decisions.
You have deep customer empathy. You’ll spend your first weeks learning how network engineers think and work. This knowledge will shape your future decisions.
You care about people using the tools you built for them. Network engineer tool adoption and satisfaction leads to critical training data, model improvement, and eventually autonomous networks.

Network Engineer
Meter · Phoenix, Arizona, United States
Pay
$105k–190k
Setting
On-site
Meter’s ambition is to evolve internet infrastructure into a utility by building a product that caters to stakeholders from Customers, ISPs, Partners, and Technicians. Every utility starts with an installation – and that’s where you come in. The Technician Operations team is the live backbone of Meter’s deployment engine, ensuring that we deliver critical infrastructure on time, to standard, and with zero friction for our partners and customers.
A Network is most vulnerable during deployment - and each stakeholder plays an essential role to ensure it’s built as performance and resilient critical infrastructure. Meter dedicates a team to each stakeholder, ensuring our product and work empowers stakeholders to do operationally and technically sound work at scale. In this role, you'll own the live technical execution of enterprise network deployments. By partnering directly with field technicians in real time, troubleshooting issues as they happen, and building the systems and tools that make installations effortless, you'll ensure every customer network is successfully brought online.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
Your fingerprints will be on every installation, shaping the technician experience and driving the scale Meter needs to reach utility status. In your first six months, you will:
- Become the technical escalation point: Independently resolve the majority of live deployment networking issues, reducing escalations to Deployment Engineering and keeping installations on schedule.
- Keep projects on track: Deliver >90% of installations on time by partnering with field technicians, unblocking issues in real time, and ensuring customer networks are successfully brought online.
- Raise quality standards: Reduce rework rates <5% and ensure compliance with installation artifacts and validation checks.
- Accelerate installs: Partner with Operations Engineering to roll out automated technician tooling that cuts install validation times by 30%.
WHAT YOUR DAY-TO-DAY WILL LOOK LIKE
From day one, you'll own the live technical execution of enterprise network deployments. A typical week might include:
- Acting as the technical lead on the live install thread: Running pre-install prep calls with technicians, deciding what gets resolved on the call vs. escalated to Wired or Wireless Deployment Engineering, and owning the shift handoff so context never drops.
- Real-time troubleshooting of issues mid-install: ISP circuit turn-up, native VLAN mismatches, trunk vs. access port config on AP uplinks, DHCP reservations and inter-VLAN routing, IPSec tunnel failures, HA firewall failover, DAC cable issues on backup uplinks, and more.
- Owning sign-off as the final technical gate before a customer network goes live: Clearing the Dashboard Issues page, confirming all hardware (firewalls, switches, APs, PDUs) is online and on the current NOS, validating ISP quality and HA failover, executing VLAN auto-config, and signing off in the deployment thread. No network activates without you.
- Keeping installs moving: Documenting progress across active deployments, pushing updates to technical project managers and stakeholders, and proactively surfacing blockers before they slip.
- Closing the feedback loop: Identifying recurring failure patterns and partnering with Operations Engineering to ship new playbooks, tooling, or product fixes.
- Building for the field: Translating technician insights into hardware and software improvements so our product is purpose-built for how installs actually happen.
WHERE THIS ROLE CAN TAKE YOU
In year two, you could design automated validation tools that remove manual install steps, lead the rollout of new technician onboarding programs that cut ramp time in half, and shape product improvements that fundamentally change how installations are done in the industry. Through all this, you’ll continue to provide a great experience with Meter for our Installation Partner Technicians. Your work will directly define how Meter scales installation quality and speed worldwide.
WHO YOU ARE
You thrive on solving complex networking problems in real time and making order out of chaos. You have strong Layer 2 and Layer 3 troubleshooting skills and excel in fast-moving environments where every deployment is different. You enjoy owning technical decisions during live deployments and keeping installations moving when unexpected challenges arise. You're comfortable partnering directly with field technicians, translating technical concepts into clear guidance, and making sound decisions when the path forward isn't immediately obvious. Beyond troubleshooting, you think systematically, identifying recurring operational pain points and building scalable processes, tooling, and documentation that make future deployments more reliable.
We are building towards 24/7 coverage. To that end, we are hiring across four shifts: Monday-Friday, Tuesday-Saturday, Sunday-Thursday, and Thursday-Monday. In your application, please note your preferences across these shifts.

Operations
Meter · Phoenix, Arizona, United States

Setting
On-site
Meter’s ambition is to evolve internet infrastructure into a utility by building a product that caters to stakeholders from customers, ISPs, Partners, and Technicians. Every deployment brings state of the art networking infrastructure to the places where it matters most, from schools to logistics hubs to retailers serving local communities.
We're building the operational backbone that lets every team at Meter move faster and with more confidence. In this Operations role, you'll sit at the center of that system: receiving structured work requests from internal teams, processing them accurately and on time, and returning clean, reliable outputs they can act on.
You'll be the person teams depend on when something needs to get done right, every time, as we scale from hundreds to thousands of deployments while delivering a clear, reliable, and reassuring experience to customers.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
- A variety of work requests are processed completely and accurately within defined SLAs, consistently, not occasionally
- Edge cases and exceptions are caught early, resolved or escalated per protocol, and logged cleanly
- The teams who depend on this function trust it without having to check on it
- When you push back or ask a team for something, it's clear you've done the work first; they know you've reviewed prior inputs, checked the documentation, and ruled out what you could before coming to them
- Engage successfully with multiple third parties like ISPs and riser managers, where communication is often complicated and requires patience, precision, and good judgment
- Constantly building domain knowledge of internet infrastructure, because the deeper the understanding, the better and faster your work gets
- Over time, you're identifying patterns in the work that make the whole system smarter
WHAT YOUR DAY-TO-DAY WILL LOOK LIKE
From day one, you’ll be in the center of the action. You'll start by triaging your queue: understanding what's come in overnight or since you last came in, prioritizing by SLA urgency, and clearing blockers before they become problems.
From there, most of your time is heads-down execution: working through data entry and enrichment tasks, reviewing outputs for accuracy, and applying decision frameworks to requests that need routing or resolution. Example jobs to be done here include:
- Work on ISP circuit procurement, fulfillment and basic support with multiple parties
- Create work orders combining wired + wireless design inputs
- Coordinate Meter equipment ordering and shipping logistics
- Schedule site surveys and installations with field technician partners
- Manage building access requirements including COIs
- Validate work completed by field technicians using internal documentation
You'll field questions from internal teams about the status of a request or why something was returned a certain way. You'll flag recurring issues to your lead. At the end of the day, you'll make sure your queue is clean, documented, and handed off properly.
WHERE THIS ROLE CAN TAKE YOU
As you demonstrate strong execution and good judgment, you’ll take on broader responsibility and harder cross-functional problems. That might look like owning a specific queue end-to-end, mentoring newer team members, or stepping into a lead role as the team scales. Because this function touches every team at Meter, you'll also build a broad view of how the business operates, which opens doors into specialized operations, analytics, or cross-functional project work over time.
WHO YOU ARE
- You're obsessively detail-oriented because you understand that the downstream teams depending on your output can only move as fast as your work is clean.
- You're proactive, not reactive. You want to understand the whole system, not just your piece of it.
- You communicate with clarity and care.
- You exhaust your resources before you ask, and it's clear you've done the work first.
- You hold a high bar when managing multiple stakeholders.
This role is not a fit for someone who:
- Treats "good enough" as a finish line. The teams depending on this function can't QA your work before they use it, and if you don't hold yourself to a high bar, no one will catch it in time.
- Waits to be told what to do next, communicates loosely, or escalates before exhausting their options. Vague updates and questions that could have been answered with a few minutes of digging create downstream problems that compound fast.
- Is looking for a fully remote or self-directed schedule. This is an in-office role with schedule coverage that may include some nights and weekends, and we want someone who's energized by that structure, not accommodating it.
