About the Role
Tabs is seeking a Senior Software Engineer specifically focused on building out custom payments workflows and integrations with payment service providers. As a member of our early-stage startup, you’ll have the opportunity to shape the direction of the company and make a meaningful impact on our success.
How We Work
We work hard. Two-week sprints based on defined goals with short feedback cycles. Built around intra-month product releases.
We work smart. Get in front of the customer, use both data and customer feedback to drive decisions, while keeping the bigger picture in mind. Hash out your ideas with other smart engineers who are dedicated to coming up with great solutions.
We work together. In-office culture with people you want to work with. Lots of whiteboard space. Expense lunch and dinner when in the office, and bagel Fridays!
What You'll Do
Be our payments expert as we build out systems that support multiple PSPs and other exciting similar payment opportunities. There are a lot of moving pieces that have to line up and you’ll own and drive significant projects that make it work.
Work closely with other engineering teams to make sure the entire revenue lifecycle delivers a frictionless billing and payment experience for our merchants and their customers.
Put AI to work everywhere it can move the needle, whether it’s product automation, business process improvement, or the team’s day-to-day workflow. We're dealing with our customers' revenue, so we use AI aggressively while also getting the numbers exactly right.
Level up the engineers around you. The team's about 30 today with a good range of experience and backgrounds, and we’re growing fast. You'll be someone people look up to as you set the technical bar, mentor and learn from those around you, and shape the kind of culture we want as we get bigger.
About You
You’ve been building software professionally for 5+ years and shipped high-impact products with a specialization in building payments systems with at least a couple of Payment Processors.
You've led big, complex system design before, ideally somewhere that was moving and growing fast.
You're hands-on with modern languages and frameworks. You still like being in the code, not just talking about it.
You've got a strong grip on the fundamentals like algorithms, data structures, and distributed systems. You know how to apply them where they actually matter.
You’re genuinely excited about AI, already using it, testing its limits, and keeping up with the latest advancements.
Ambiguity doesn't slow you down. You thrive in the early, undefined stage of a problem where you get to shape the answer rather than follow a spec.
You're the kind of engineer other engineers want to learn from, and you truly enjoy that aspect of the role.
Not sure you tick every box? Apply anyway. If you're excited about what we're building, we want to hear from you.
Tech & Tools
Day to day, you'll be in Next.js, Nest.js, TypeScript, and React.
You'll have a wide range of GenAI systems and tooling to build with, and a lot of freedom in how you use them.
We run on AWS and Vercel, with Datadog and Sentry for observability, and Stripe and Plaid powering payments.
For everything else, we use modern tools like Slack, Notion, Linear, and Google Workspace.

Founded in 2023, Tabs has raised over $91 million from Lightspeed Venture Partners, General Catalyst, and Primary. The team is headquartered in New York and brings deep expertise in finance and AI.
About the Role
Tabs is hiring a Forward Deployed Engineer to join a highly visible team that designs and delivers custom workflows, features, and integrations for our highest-value customers. You'll serve as the connective tissue between customers and product, translating complex requirements into clear solutions while partnering with implementation, customer success, product, and engineering to own the path from scoping through launch. This role sits at the intersection of go-live and long-term adoption, and the solutions you deliver often shape the core product roadmap. You'll work cross-functionally with GTM, Implementation, and Customer Success, partnering closely with Product and Engineering to surface patterns and escalate gaps based on real customer needs.
What You’ll Do
Own delivery of customer projects end-to-end (scoping → launch), across a range of sizes and urgency
Act as a mini-PM: clarify requirements, define scope, and drive execution across stakeholders
Build customer-specific solutions in Python & React, using Tabs’ APIs and internal systems to deliver custom workflows
Develop creative solutions by combining Tabs’ APIs with flexible workflows and lightweight tooling
Operate in an FDE-style capacity when needed, including investigating customer environments/tools and resolving customer-impacting issues cross-functionally
Unblock yourself through independent discovery and communicate clearly on priorities, timelines, risks, and customer impact
Who You Are:
A self-starter who thrives in ambiguity and can move forward without perfect requirements or detailed specs
Resourceful and pragmatic - you gather context quickly, make reasonable assumptions, and unblock progress
A creative problem solver who balances speed and quality when delivering customer-facing solutions
Technical and systems-minded, with strong instincts for how components interact and where edge cases live
Product-oriented and impact-driven - you care about shipping outcomes that work for real users and customers
Requirements:
2+ years of experience and strong working knowledge of Python, with experience using it to build and support production workflows and internal tools
Strong systems thinking, including the ability to reason about data flows, integrations, edge cases, and failure modes
Comfort working across APIs, data, and operational tooling to deliver reliable customer-facing functionality
Ability to scope and drive delivery end-to-end: clarify requirements, define technical approach, and execute in ambiguity
Strong cross-functional communicator with experience working in client-facing contexts
Nice to Have:
Familiarity with SQL (or confidence picking it up quickly)
Familiarity with Github and software development approach
Experience debugging production issues or working in live customer environments
Prior customer-facing technical experience (solutions, implementation, support, etc.)
Exposure to Field / Forward-Deployed (FDE) style work and customer-stack investigation
(e.g., CRMs/ERPs/Datawarehouses like Salesforce, Quickbooks, Snowflake)
Advanced spreadsheet skills (Google Sheets / Excel) and/or familiarity with finance, accounting, or B2B operations workflows
Perks and Benefits (Full-time Employees)
Competitive compensation and equity
Unlimited PTO
Up to 100% employer covered monthly healthcare premium (medical, dental, vision)
Lunch provided via Sharebite, plus dinner for any later in office days.
Parental leave up to 12 weeks
Tax free commuter and parking benefits

Staff Site Reliability Engineer
Tabs is the leading AI-native revenue platform for modern finance and accounting teams. Tabs agents automate the entire contract-to-cash lifecycle, including billing, collections, revenue recognition, and reporting, to help teams eliminate manual work and accelerate cash flow.
High-growth companies like Cursor and Statsig rely on Tabs to generate invoices directly from contracts, reconcile payments in real time, and automate ASC 606 compliance.
Founded in 2023, Tabs has raised over $91 million from Lightspeed Venture Partners, General Catalyst, and Primary. The team is headquartered in New York and brings deep expertise in finance and AI.
About the Role
We’re looking for a Staff Site Reliability Engineer to lead the evolution of Tabs’ platform as we scale. In this role, you’ll operate as a senior individual contributor, partnering closely with engineering and product teams to design, build, and operate systems that are reliable, observable, and easy to develop on.
You’ll own our infrastructure direction, shape how we ship software, and set the standard for operational excellence across the company. This is a high-impact role for someone who enjoys solving complex systems problems, influencing architecture, and raising the reliability bar without becoming a gatekeeper.
What You’ll Own
AWS infrastructure direction and platform evolution, including the migration from ECS/Fargate toward a more modern, scalable runtime
CI/CD systems with a strong emphasis on developer experience, safety, and automation (GitHub Actions today; maturing CD tomorrow)
Ephemeral environments and preview deploys to speed iteration and increase confidence in changes
Observability standards across metrics, logs, and tracing, including alert hygiene, dashboards, and SLO development
Incident response, postmortems, and the reliability culture that surrounds them
What You’ll Do
Define and evolve reliability standards, SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets
Improve observability, alerting, and incident processes across services
Lead high-severity incidents and drive clear, actionable follow-ups
Partner with engineering teams to design resilient, scalable systems
Build automation to reduce toil and lower operational risk
Mentor engineers and influence best practices across teams
Who You Are
You’ve run production systems on AWS and can lead platform-level change
You think in systems: risk, rollback strategy, blast radius, and feedback loops
You treat CI/CD and environments as products that should be fast, reliable, and self-serve
You influence through trust and clarity rather than control
You balance pragmatism with long-term system health
You value learning from failure and improving processes over assigning blame
You communicate clearly and work well across teams
Experience
10+ years in SRE, infrastructure, or backend engineering roles
Strong software engineering experience in one or more modern languages
Expertise operating distributed systems in production at scale
Deep experience with AWS, observability tooling, and CI/CD systems
Comfortable navigating ambiguity and setting direction in a fast-moving environment
