Voice AI that resolves, not transfers.
Most phone systems trap callers in menus and scripts. Vapi is the platform for deploying voice agents that know your business and can listen, adapt, and resolve in minutes.
- The numbers: 1 billion calls. 1 million developers. 10x enterprise ARR growth
- The customers: Amazon Ring, ServiceTitan, New York Life, Intuit, Kavak, and thousands more, from YC startups to the Fortune 500
- The news: a $50M Series B led by Peak XV Partners, with Bessemer Venture Partners, Kleiner Perkins, M12 (Microsoft's Venture Fund), Y Combinator, and our earlier backers. Total raised: $72M
Why We’re Hiring This Role:
- Vapi is moving deeper into enterprise customers, where buyers are technical and evaluations depend on clear architecture, credible demos, and working POCs.
- Customers want to understand how Vapi fits into real production workflows like IVR replacement, outbound dialing, agent-assisted support, appointment scheduling etc.
- This is one of our first Solutions Architect hires, with real scope to shape how we sell, demo, document, and bring enterprise customers live.
What You’ll Do:
- 30 Day: Learn Vapi’s product, customer use cases, sales motion, and common technical objections. Shadow enterprise calls, understand our voice-agent architecture, and start building fluency across telephony, LLM orchestration, integrations, and contact center workflows.
- 60 Day: Own technical discovery and demos for active enterprise deals. Partner closely with AEs on account strategy, build customer-specific demos, help design POCs, and answer technical questions clearly and honestly.
- 90 Day: Lead the technical side of enterprise deals from first call through close and go-live. Create reusable artifacts for the team, document integratio n patterns and common objections, and feed repeated product gaps back to engineering and product.
Who You Are:
- You have 4+ years in a technical customer-facing role, such as pre-sales engineering, solutions architecture, customer engineering, or similar.
- You can write code well enough to build a working integration, read an API response, and debug issues without immediately pulling in an engineer.
- You have experience with voice, telephony, or contact center infrastructure, such as SIP, Twilio, Genesys, Five9, or similar systems.
- You’re comfortable speaking with both engineers and executives, and you adjust the level of detail without dumbing things down.
- You’re energized by technical sales: discovery, architecture, POCs, objection handling, and helping customers get live.
How We Work:
- Build something worthy of love - Craft matters. We aim to build products and experiences customers genuinely love, not just tolerate.
- Commit and follow through - We finish what we start and build trust by being people others can count on.
- Why not today? - We value urgency and momentum. The fastest path to customer value usually wins.
- Seek raw input - We go directly to customers, data, and teammates instead of relying on summaries or assumptions.
- It’s our problem - We operate as one team. We share credit, own mistakes together, and support each other when things get hard.
- Be direct and kind - We give feedback clearly, respectfully, and without delay.
Why Vapi:
- Generational impact: Build the human interface for every business
- Ownership culture: 70% of the company are previous founders
- Kind team: The founders, Jordan and Nikhil, are Canadians
- Tier-1 Investors: YC, KP seed, Bessemer Series A
What We Offer:
- Real stake: We offer a competitive salary and excellent equity ownership
- Comprehensive health coverage: medical, dental, and vision plans
- Team love: We love hanging out, and we do quarterly off-sites
- Flexible time off: take what you need
- More: catered meals, transportation, gym, and a $10k annual L&D budget

Why We’re Hiring This Role:
Vapi is moving deeper into enterprise, where every serious deal runs through a technical evaluation: architecture reviews, customer-specific demos, and working POCs.
Our first Solutions Architects are on board and the enterprise pipeline is growing faster than individual contributors can carry it. We need someone to build the function, not just staff it.
You'll own hiring, POC standards, demo assets, and how the team pairs with AEs. This is a player-coach role with real scope to define how Vapi sells to the enterprise.
What You’ll Do:
30 days - Learn the product from the inside
- Build an agent yourself, wire up a telephony integration, and sit in on live enterprise deals.
- Meet every SE, AE, and the founders. Map current deal coverage and find where evaluations stall today.
- Get fluent in the architecture: telephony, LLM orchestration, integrations, and contact center workflows.
60 days - Set the standard, stay in deals
- Own the hiring plan and start closing candidates. You know what a great SE looks like and can sell them on the role.
- Define standards for discovery, demos, and POC scoping so deal quality doesn't depend on who picks up the deal.
- Stay hands-on in the two or three largest opportunities as a player-coach.
90 days - Run the function
- Manage capacity and deal assignment.
- Review POCs before they ship and coach the team on live calls.
- Build the reusable artifact library: reference architectures, integration patterns, and objection responses.
- Own the numbers that matter, like technical win rate and time to go-live, and feed repeated product gaps back to engineering with data.
Who You Are:
- You have 6+ years in a technical customer-facing role and 2+ years managing Sales Engineers or Solutions Architects, ideally through a stage where the team doubled.
- You've hired SEs before, and you can tell the difference between a polished demo and a strong engineer inside one interview loop.
- You can build a working integration, read an API response, and debug a customer's webhook without pulling in engineering.
- You have experience with voice, telephony, or contact center infrastructure, such as SIP, Twilio, Genesys, Five9, or similar systems.
- You're comfortable in the room with both engineers and executives, and you coach your team to adjust the level of detail without dumbing things down.
- You're energized by technical sales: discovery, architecture, POCs, objection handling, and helping customers get live.
How We Work:
- Build something worthy of love - Craft matters. We aim to build products and experiences customers genuinely love, not just tolerate.

- Kind team: The founders, Jordan and Nikhil, are Canadians
- Tier-1 Investors: YC, KP seed, Bessemer Series A

Why We’re Hiring This Role:
The StreamModule pipeline — VAD → STT → LLM → TTS → Transport — runs on cork/uncork backpressure during live phone calls. A hundred milliseconds of delay is audible. This role owns pipeline stability and pluggability, so the agents and FDE teams can add new models and providers without touching core.
You’ll consolidate BullMQ into Kafka, harden the provider abstractions (LLM, STT, TTS base classes), instrument the pipeline with event-driven OTEL tracing, and shore up the Postgres SPOFs that contributed to the Oct 15 and Oct 22 incidents.
What You’ll Do:
30 Day: Ramp on the StreamModule pipeline and the cork/uncork backpressure model. Walk the Oct 15 / Oct 22 DB incidents and the duplicate-message incident. Land a scoped pipeline or provider-abstraction improvement.
60 Day: Own a slice of the BullMQ → Kafka consolidation. Ship event-driven OTEL instrumentation for at least one critical pipeline stage. Harden one provider plugin path so a new model can be added without core changes.
90 Day: Drive a measurable reliability or latency win on the call path. Be the backend owner that agents and FDE teams pull in for design reviews on new providers and pipeline changes.
Who You Are:
Must-haves:
- You’ve built real-time or streaming systems in production — media pipelines, streaming data, or event-driven backends. You’ve debugged a backpressure cascade.
- You have opinions on queue architecture (BullMQ, Kafka, Temporal) and when each is the right fit.
- You’ve built plugin or adapter architectures — extending base classes cleanly, with decoupled implementations.
- You’ve operated Postgres at scale: connection pooling, read replicas, schema migrations (Liquibase or similar).
- You instrument with OpenTelemetry and think in event-driven traces, not just logs.
Nice-to-haves:
- TypeScript + Node.js + NestJS. The codebase is huge NestJS, but a strong systems-thinking engineer ramps fast — language doesn’t gate the hire.
Tech stack you’ll work in:
- Languages: TypeScript on Node.js (primary).
- Framework: NestJS (large codebase).
- Pipeline: StreamModule (VAD → STT → LLM → TTS → Transport), cork/uncork backpressure.
- Queues: BullMQ (current), Kafka (target — consolidation on roadmap), Temporal.
- Database: Postgres (connection pooling, read replicas), Liquibase for schema migrations.
- Plugin system: provider abstractions — LLM, STT, TTS base classes (pluggable, decoupled from model integrations).
- Observability: OpenTelemetry tracing, event-driven instrumentation.
Where you likely come from:
A streaming or real-time platform (Discord, Slack, Zoom, Twitch, Mux, LiveKit), an ML-infra company (Modal, Baseten, Replicate, Together), or a pipeline/workflow shop (Temporal, Stripe Radar, trading systems).
Weak fit: backend engineer who’s only built systems where users don’t wait in real time (overnight jobs, reports, dashboards).
Why Vapi:
Generational impact: Build the human interface for every business
Ownership culture: 70% of the company are previous founders
Kind team: The founders, Jordan and Nikhil, are Canadians
Tier-1 Investors: YC, KP seed, Bessemer Series A, Recent Series B raise
What We Offer:
Real stake: We offer a competitive salary and excellent equity ownership
Comprehensive health coverage: medical, dental, and vision plans
Team love: We love hanging out, and we do quarterly off-sites
Flexible time off: take what you need
More: catered meals, transportation, gym, and a $10k annual L&D budget

ABOUT THE ROLE
Vapi is deployed for multiple large enterprises, including several Fortune 500s, across regions around the world (including the EU and Australia). We're hiring a DevSecOps Lead to build and harden the security posture of our product and underlying infrastructure as we scale upmarket — so we stay compliant, secure, and ahead of what regulated enterprise customers expect.
This is a hands-on senior IC / lead role reporting to Tejas Siripurapu in Core Engineering. You'll partner closely with InfoSec, Engineering, and GTM, and your work will directly determine how confidently the largest companies in the world can run on Vapi.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Make Vapi's security posture world-class for the enterprise — shift security left, catch regressions during code review and CI, and harden our multi-tenant infrastructure as we onboard the Fortune 500.
- Build automation as a security primitive — including agentic systems that run penetration tests against staging ahead of every release, and that auto-remediate issues as they surface.
- Own the compliance roadmap end-to-end alongside InfoSec, including Drata and the automations that keep us audit-ready as we expand into new regions and regulated industries.
- Partner deeply with Engineering, InfoSec, and GRC — building guardrails developers actually use, not ad-hoc controls bolted on after the fact.
- Be the authority Sales and GTM lean on — giving prospects and enterprise customers the confidence that Vapi's security posture matches the trust they're placing in us.
WHO YOU ARE
MUST-HAVES
- 5–10 years of engineering experience, with significant time in modern cloud-native SaaS — AWS, Kubernetes, Postgres, and ideally VoIP.
- Strong understanding of security in a multi-tenant cloud environment serving regulated enterprise customers with many third-party integrations.
- High proficiency writing and reviewing code — you can ship the fix, not just file the ticket.
- Invested in shift-left security: catching regressions during code and test, not after production incidents.
- Collaborative by default — you build guardrails with security, engineering, and GRC partners rather than operating as a lone wolf.
- Hands-on by preference; comfortable as a senior IC or lead, not looking to step into pure management.
NICE-TO-HAVES
- Direct experience securing CI/CD pipelines.
- Background as a backend software engineer.
- Experience with compliance frameworks (SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA) and tools like Drata.
- Familiarity with VoIP / telephony security and the failure modes of real-time systems.
HOW WE WORK
- Build something worthy of love: We aim to build products and experiences customers genuinely love, not just tolerate.
- Commit and follow through: We finish what we start and build trust by being people others can count on.
- Why not today?: We value urgency and momentum. The fastest path to customer value usually wins.
- Seek raw input: We go directly to customers, data, and teammates instead of relying on summaries or assumptions.
- It's our problem: We operate as one team. We share credit, own mistakes together, and support each other when things get hard.
- Be direct and kind: We give feedback clearly, respectfully, and without delay.
WHY VAPI
- Define the future of human–AI interaction: Help pioneer a new era of voice-based AI products that are transforming how people and businesses communicate.
- Own meaningful work at a breakout startup: Join early, take real ownership, and have a direct hand in building a category-defining company from the ground up.
- Surround yourself with exceptional people: Work alongside a world-class team of engineers, operators, and builders backed by top-tier investors who believe in our mission.
- Accelerate your career in a high-growth environment: Grow fast, take on big challenges, and unlock opportunities as we scale one of the most exciting platforms in AI.
WHAT WE OFFER
- Competitive compensation: includes a strong base salary and meaningful equity ownership.
- Comprehensive health coverage: medical, dental, and vision plans.
- Flexible time off: take-what-you-need vacation policy with an emphasis on rest and balance.
- Daily meals: catered lunches and dinners provided for in-office days.
- Lifestyle & wellness stipends: monthly allowances to support rent, transportation, food, fitness, and mental well-being.
- Professional development: annual learning stipends for courses, conferences, and upskilling.
- Team connection: regular offsites, team events, and opportunities to build in-person relationships.

- The news: a $50M Series B led by Peak XV Partners, with Bessemer Venture Partners, Kleiner Perkins, M12 (Microsoft's Venture Fund), Y Combinator, and our earlier backers. Total raised: $72M
WHY WE’RE HIRING THIS ROLE:
- Three of our worst recent incidents — Nov 29 config rollout, Dec 23 duplicate messages, Oct 13 egress proxy — were resolved by rollback. That’s the SDLC gap this role closes. Vapi engineers are your users, and the deploy pipeline, preview environments, cell-creation tooling, and oncall tooling are products with SLAs, docs, and feedback loops.
- You’ll own progressive delivery (canary, blue/green, automated rollback, soak periods), the GitOps story across multiple clusters and regions, and the on-demand environment tooling that’s on the Q3 roadmap. Success is measured by how fast every other team ships safely.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- 30 Day: Get fluent in the Pulumi stacks, the ArgoCD setup, and GitHub Actions pipelines. Sit with engineers from agents and FDE teams to find the top 3 deploy pain points. Land a quality-of-life improvement to the deploy pipeline.
- 60 Day: Own progressive delivery end-to-end — canary, automated rollback, soak — for at least one critical service path. Ship the first version of cell-creation tooling or preview environments. Make the deploy pipeline measurably faster (lead time, MTTR for failed deploys).
- 90 Day: Roll out progressive delivery as the default across services. Establish SLAs and a feedback loop with engineering teams. Own the developer-platform roadmap and partner with Infra and SRE on cell creation, multi-region rollouts, and oncall tooling.
WHO YOU ARE:
Must-haves
- You have a platform-as-a-product mindset — you treat internal engineers as customers, with SLAs, docs, and feedback loops, not tickets and ad-hoc help.
- You’ve operated Pulumi (TypeScript) or Terraform at scale (40+ stacks, multi-region) and you’ve felt the pain when IaC sprawl gets ahead of you.
- You’ve run ArgoCD or equivalent GitOps for deploying applications across multiple clusters.
- You’ve built progressive delivery in production — canary, blue/green, automated rollback, soak periods. You can describe a real rollout that automated rollback caught.
- You’ve designed CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions preferred) for many services and Dockerfiles, not just one repo.
- You’ve built deploy tooling for on-demand environments — preview envs, dev deployments, or cell creation.
Nice-to-haves
- You’ve written Go for platform services (Vapi’s canary-manager is Go).
- You’ve operated developer platforms at a mid-stage infra-heavy company or a DevEx team at a larger shop.
Tech stack you’ll work in
- Languages: TypeScript (primary, for Pulumi and tooling), Go (for canary-manager and platform services), Bash.
- IaC: Pulumi (TypeScript) at scale (40+ stacks across regions), Terraform.
- GitOps and deploy: ArgoCD (multi-cluster), GitHub Actions, 15+ Dockerfiles.
- Progressive delivery: canary, blue/green, automated rollback, soak periods (canary-manager Go service).
- Orchestration: Kubernetes on EKS (multi-cluster, multi-region).
- Vapi services you’ll touch: canary-manager, cell-creation tooling, preview env tooling.
Where you likely come from
- Vercel, Render, Railway, Fly, Temporal, Cockroach (mid-stage infra-heavy), or DevEx/Platform teams at Stripe, Shopify, Airbnb, or Block.
- Weak fit: classic AWS sysadmin, or someone whose CI/CD experience is mostly Jenkins GUI-level.

- The news: a $50M Series B led by Peak XV Partners, with Bessemer Venture Partners, Kleiner Perkins, M12 (Microsoft's Venture Fund), Y Combinator, and our earlier backers. Total raised: $72M
WHY WE’RE HIRING THIS ROLE:
- 99.99% call completion is the number this role drives. Vapi runs live phone calls — a p99 spike means callers drop. We’ve had 15 stability-gap outages worth learning from, and we need someone who runs incident command, owns SLOs and error budgets, and builds the reliability culture from scratch.
- This is not a bash-and-YAML role. You’ll ship code (Go or TypeScript) for services that monitor and manage the platform: auto-remediation, capacity forecasters, oncall tooling. Capacity planning, load testing, and KEDA-based autoscaling for Vapi’s wscaler and workerpool-cron-scaler are on your plate.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- 30 Day: Join the oncall rotation. Walk the 15 stability-gap incidents and turn the patterns into a prioritized reliability backlog. Define the first set of SLOs for the call-completion path.
- 60 Day: Stand up error budgets and SLO-based alerting in Chronosphere/Prometheus for the highest-impact services. Run the first proper load test against provider rate limits and per-org concurrency. Tune autoscaling for wscaler / workerpool-cron-scaler.
- 90 Day: Ship a real platform service — capacity forecaster, auto-remediation, or oncall tooling — in Go or TypeScript. Own the postmortem process. Drive a measurable improvement in p99 call completion or MTTR.
WHO YOU ARE:
Must-haves
- You’ve run incident command and postmortem discipline at scale on a real oncall rotation.
- You’ve operated SLOs and error budgets in Chronosphere, Prometheus, Grafana, or Datadog.
- You’ve done capacity planning and load testing for production systems with real users.
- You’re fluent in Kubernetes production ops: pod crash diagnosis, HPA/VPA tuning, PodDisruptionBudgets, graceful shutdown.
- You know backpressure and autoscaling patterns — KEDA, custom metrics scaling.
Nice-to-haves
- You ship code, not just scripts. You can build platform services in Go or TypeScript (matches Vapi’s cluster-manager, database-health, wscaler, incidentManager).
- Real-time / latency-sensitive product background where degraded means a dropped call, not a slow dashboard.
Tech stack you’ll work in
- Languages: Go and TypeScript (you ship code, not just scripts), Bash.
- Observability: Chronosphere, Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, OpenTelemetry.
- Orchestration: Kubernetes on EKS — production ops (HPA/VPA tuning, PodDisruptionBudgets, graceful shutdown, pod crash diagnosis).
- Autoscaling and backpressure: KEDA, custom metrics scaling (matches Vapi’s wscaler and workerpool-cron-scaler).
- Load testing: script-based load testing, provider rate-limit auditing, per-org concurrency auditing.
- Vapi services you’ll touch or build: cluster-manager, database-health, wscaler, incidentManager.
Where you likely come from
- A real-time / latency-sensitive product (Discord, Zoom, Mux, Twitch, Twilio, LiveKit, Cloudflare, a trading firm, a gaming backend), or a FAANG SRE / Production Engineer (Google, Uber, Twitter/X, Meta) who misses being hands-on.
- Weak fit: SRE from analytics or CRM backends where “degraded” means a slow dashboard, not a dropped call. Anyone uncomfortable reading or writing code.
WHY VAPI:
- Generational impact: Build the human interface for every business
- Ownership culture: 70% of the company are previous founders

- Tier-1 Investors: YC, KP seed, Bessemer Series A

- We're hiring our first dedicated QA Engineer on the product team to own end-to-end quality across that surface.
- This is a real ownership role: you'll work on the cutting edge of AI, define how we test a non-deterministic product, partner directly with engineers on a small team, and have outsized impact on what our customers experience every day.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- First 30 Days:
- Build and deploy real assistants on Vapi, run live calls and simulations across our main provider integrations (LLMs, STT, TTS, telephony), and break the product in at least a few interesting ways.
- Get up and running in our existing e2e test framework and ship your first Playwright tests against the dashboard.
- File bugs that engineers fix, and develop a working point of view on where our coverage is weakest.
- By 60 Days:
- Own release testing for at least one major product area (assistant builder, simulations, monitoring, knowledge base, or versioning), and earn engineers' trust to gate it.
- Meaningfully improve automated coverage in your area.
- Partner with engineers on test strategy for new features before they ship.
- Use AI coding agents to multiply your throughput on test scenarios and regression coverage.
- By 90 Days:
- Operate as a full peer to engineers on the team, owning QA across the product surface without handholding.
- Extend our testing practices and contribute patterns the rest of the team picks up.
- Be involved in new features from the start, with the automation suite meaningfully larger on your watch.
WHO YOU ARE:
Must-Haves
- 5+ years in QA, SDET, Test Engineering, or product engineering with a strong testing focus.
- Hands-on with at least one modern e2e framework — Playwright preferred; Cypress, Selenium, or equivalent are fine.
- Comfortable reading and writing TypeScript / JavaScript well enough to extend our test suite and file bugs with a hypothesis attached.
- Track record testing complex, distributed systems with real failure modes — APIs, integrations, real-time behavior, anything where "correct" isn't a fixed string.
- Daily use of AI coding agents (Claude Code, Cursor, or similar) with opinions about where they help and where they don't.
- Self-directed: you read the PR, open the product, and start finding what's broken without waiting for a spec.
- Strong written communication, especially in bug reports and test plans.
- Customer empathy and a bias for action: you ship, you own outcomes, and you care what users actually experience.
Nice-to-Haves
- Background in voice AI, conversational AI, LLM applications, or telephony.
- Experience with LLM evals or testing non-deterministic systems.
- Worked on a developer-facing product — APIs, SDKs, dashboards — where the audience is technical.
- Early-stage startup experience; comfortable with ambiguity and shifting priorities.
- Open-source contributions or public writing on testing, evals, or QA practice.
WHY VAPI:
- Generational impact: Build the human interface for every business.
- Ownership culture: 70% of the company are previous founders.
- Kind team: The founders, Jordan and Nikhil, are Canadians.
- Tier-1 Investors: YC, KP seed, Bessemer Series A.
WHAT WE OFFER:
- Real stake: Competitive salary and excellent equity ownership.
- Comprehensive health coverage: medical, dental, and vision plans.
- Team love: We love hanging out, and we do quarterly off-sites.
- Flexible time off: take what you need.
- More: catered meals, transportation, gym, and a $10k annual L&D budget.
