Quick Summary
You're the go-to person for Kin's Chicago office, running day-to-day operations, onsite events, and the culture programs that connect Kinfolk to each other.
Who We Are
Kin makes life simpler, more affordable, and better for homeowners — especially in the places where climate risks, rising costs, and outdated systems make it hardest. We start with smarter homeowners insurance and expand to everything homeowners need to thrive.
Using data, technology, and thoughtful human support, we're building products that are clear, fair, and help homeowners feel confident — so homeowners aren't left behind when they need help most.
Founded in 2016, Kin is a remote-first employer with Kinfolk across more than 35 states. We serve customers in 14 states (and counting). Our disciplined growth, strong customer satisfaction, and focus on long-term sustainability fosters outstanding growth, attracts marquee investors, and earns recognition and accolades, including:
- Built In Chicago's Best Places to Work, Midsize Companies (2021-2026)
- Forbes' America's Best Startup Employers (2026)
- Inc. 5000 Fastest-Growing Private Companies
- Forbes’ Fintech 50 (2023-2026)
- Great Places to Work Certified (May 2024-May 2027)
Most importantly, we're building Kin to be a place where people do meaningful work with real impact — for our customers, our communities, and each other. We're excited to tell you more about how you can contribute to our rapid growth, strong unit economics, profitability, and excellent customer ratings. To learn more about how we work and what we're building, visit kin.com http://kin.com and see how we work (https://www.linkedin.com/company/kin-insurance/life/kin/).
The Opportunity
We're looking for a Specialist, Office & Experience to help us keep our downtown Chicago office running smoothly and build the programs that connect our people to Kin's culture. This role sits on the People Team and is the go-to resource for office management, onsite events, and employee experience.
As a remote-first company, our Chicago office is one of the few places Kinfolk gather in person, which makes this role's impact outsized. You'll shape whether that office feels like a place people want to come to, and you'll build the programs — onboarding, recognition, swag, ERG support — that connect employees to Kin no matter where they sit.
Your Responsibilities
- Own day-to-day Chicago office operations, including supplies, food, mail, and building coordination, proactively anticipating needs before they become issues.
- Own and evolve the office space and vendor and landlord relationships, keeping the office professional, organized, and reflective of Kin's culture.
- Track and reconcile office expenses, and identify process improvements to streamline operations.
- Serve as the central coordinator for all office events and company onsites, managing logistics end to end including venues, contracts, hotel group rates, and catering.
- Negotiate and submit vendor contracts through the company procurement system.
- Build and run employee experience programs across the lifecycle, including new hire orientation, recognition programs, and employee gifting.
- Own the company swag program end to end, from inventory to vendor relations to shipping.
- Own day-to-day employee communications, including the internal wiki and new hire content, and coordinate logistics for our Employee Resource Groups (ERGs).
Success in This Role
In your first 6–12 months at Kin, success is less about checking boxes and more about the impact you create. You'll use your skills and judgment to take ownership of meaningful work, improve how we operate, and help move Kin's mission forward. Along the way, you'll deliver outcomes that make a real difference for both Kinfolk and the homeowners we serve.
By the end of your first year, you should feel confident in your role, trusted as an owner, and proud of the progress you've helped make.
- The Chicago office runs like clockwork, with proactive systems in place so issues get caught before they affect anyone's day.
- Onsite events and company gatherings consistently deliver a great experience for the Kinfolk who travel in.
- New hires feel welcomed and set up for success from day one, thanks to smooth onboarding and a well-run swag program.
- Employees feel more connected to Kin's culture through consistent recognition, ERG support, and communications.
What You'll Bring
- Demonstrated experience supporting workplace and employee experience, including maintaining clean and organized shared spaces; 3+ years working with learning and development, internal communications, and/or people teams preferred.
- Proven experience planning and executing events, including vendor coordination, budgeting, and managing multiple priorities at once.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational discipline, with a high degree of ownership and the proactive judgment to anticipate needs and improve things before problems arise.
- An aligner, not just an executor — you make sure everyone is on the same page so decisions and momentum come easily.
- Comfortable building relationships across internal teams like IT, plus vendors, landlords, and external partners at all levels.
- Comfortable being a "yes" person while knowing when to push back on policies, budgets, or logistics.
- Able to work in our downtown Chicago office three days a week, Tuesday through Thursday, with Monday and Friday as needed as business needs require.
- Ability to lift 30–40 lbs.
Bonus if you have:
- Experience in HR, employee experience, or internal communications
- Familiarity with the downtown Chicago area
- Experience with Google Suite, Slack, or office management tools
How We Hire

HOW WE WORK
We don’t just hire for skills. We hire for alignment. Kinfolk bring diverse perspectives, but we’re united by a shared set of values that shape how we work and how we show up for each other and our customers.
Run through walls, together - Every one of us is responsible for creating the culture we want to work in. High performance. Low drama. Always respectful. We assume the best in each other and challenge ideas, not intentions. We show up, work hard, and play to each other's strengths — because that’s how great teams win.
Raise the bar. Drop the ego - Attitudes are contagious. Every one of us is responsible for creating the culture we want to work in. High performance. Low drama. Always respectful. Like professional sports teams, we win by working in sync. We show up, work hard, and play to each other’s strengths.
Act like an owner - We are owners, fully accountable for achieving Kin’s mission. That requires positive, proactive, big-picture thinking well beyond our job descriptions. Ask questions, Take ownership. Do the right thing, even when it‘s hard. Because when Kin thrives, so do you. And so do our customers.
Operate lean. Deliver more - We build efficiency into everything we do. Each dollar we save gets reinvested to deliver more to our customers: better pricing, more products, and new innovations. We work smarter by relentlessly prioritizing and using technology, including AI, to multiply our impact. Lean is about focus, not deprivation. Lean isn't a limitation — it's our competitive advantage.
Keep asking ‘What if?’ - We value curiosity. To make insurance better for our customers, we experiment. We embrace insights. And we base decisions on data rather than assumptions. We see setbacks as opportunities for growth and are always learning and improving. Both individually and as a company.

If you believe you belong to any of the categories of protected veterans listed below, please indicate by making the appropriate selection. As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:
A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.
A "recently separated veteran" means any veteran during the three-year period beginning on the date of such veteran's discharge or release from active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval, or air service.
An "active duty wartime or campaign badge veteran" means a veteran who served on active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service during a war, or in a campaign or expedition for which a campaign badge has been authorized under the laws administered by the Department of Defense.
An "Armed forces service medal veteran" means a veteran who, while serving on active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service, participated in a United States military operation for which an Armed Forces service medal was awarded pursuant to Executive Order 12985.

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 07/31/2029
Why are you being asked to complete this form?
We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.
Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
How do you know if you have a disability?
