About the Team
The legal industry team works with law firms, in-house legal departments, legal technology companies, and other members of the legal ecosystem to understand how AI can support serious professional work. The team collaborates across Product, Research, Engineering, Design, Go-to-Market, Partnerships, Safety, Security, and Legal.
We believe the strongest progress in legal will be built with the ecosystem. Our goal is to help customers and partners use OpenAI's capabilities in ways that are useful, trustworthy, and complementary to the products, expertise, and relationships that already serve the field.
About the Role
As a Product Manager you will help lead OpenAI's work with the legal industry. This is a high-ownership, hands-on role for someone who can turn incomplete information into clear priorities and shipped work.
We’re looking for people who will spend time with customers and partners, work closely with researchers, engineers, designers, and operators, and keep complex work moving across teams. You will have meaningful ownership, but your success will depend as much on collaboration, follow-through, and judgment as on strategy. Success will depend on detailed, behind-the-scenes work in a fast-moving environment that can sometimes be chaotic. The right person will work very hard, get their hands dirty, and stay calm when the path is unclear. The work is also important and substantive: you will help shape how powerful technology is used in a consequential profession.
This role is based in San Francisco, CA. We use a hybrid work model of 3 days in the office per week and offer relocation assistance to new employees.
In this role, you will:
Turn customer, partner, market, and model evidence into a clear product strategy and roadmap for OpenAI’s work with the legal industry—including what to build, what not to build, and where ecosystem partners should lead.
Define requirements and take products from early concept through real-world use and iteration.
Lead execution across Research, Engineering, Design, Safety, Security, FDE, Go-to-Market, and Partnerships—resolving ambiguity, surfacing tradeoffs, inspecting outputs, and closing the detailed loops required to ship trustworthy products.
You might thrive in this role if you:
Have personally built and shipped zero-to-one enterprise, developer, or AI products, and stay close to users, product behavior, and the unglamorous details that determine whether something actually works.
Combine strong product judgment with technical curiosity: you can reason from model and evaluation evidence, distinguish model, data, workflow, trust, and delivery problems, and change direction when the facts change.
Earn credibility with demanding practitioners and partners, collaborate with low ego across teams you do not manage, and bring clarity, pace, and calm to complex, fast-moving work. Legal or regulated-industry experience is helpful, but a J.D. is not required.

About the Team
OpenAI’s Cyber team works to make frontier AI a decisive advantage for defenders.
The Cyber Blue Team is an operator-led group focused on turning real defensive problems into better models, useful products, safe Codex workflows, and integrations with the security tools defenders already use.
Our ambition is simple:
Raise attacker cost. Lower defender toil. Prove it by defending OpenAI; scale it through the ecosystem.
We are not setting out to build another SIEM or autonomous SOC. We want to build the AI reasoning and workflow layer that helps security teams investigate threats, create and validate detections, improve their controls, and respond with greater speed and confidence.
About the Role
We are looking for a Product Manager to help build a new generation of AI-powered cyber defense products.
You will work closely with security practitioners, researchers, engineers, designers, internal security teams, customers, and technology partners to turn emerging model capabilities into products that solve meaningful defensive problems.
This is an early-stage product role. The work will span product discovery, prototyping, evaluation, development, launch, and iteration. You will help the team identify where AI can create the most value for defenders and translate those opportunities into clear, usable, and trustworthy product experiences.
Initial areas of focus may include:
Detection engineering and detection-content development
Threat hunting and investigation
Security validation and control testing
AI-agent and MCP runtime defense
Integrations with security platforms and enterprise workflows
Safe, governed assistance for incident response
The specific roadmap will continue to evolve based on model progress, practitioner needs, internal learnings, and customer feedback.
In This Role, You Will
Work with security practitioners to understand high-value defensive workflows, recurring pain points, and opportunities for AI to materially improve outcomes.
Help shape and build products from early concept through prototype, evaluation, launch, and ongoing iteration.
Translate complex security and model capabilities into clear product requirements and intuitive user experiences.
Partner with research and engineering teams to connect model improvements with real product use cases.
Collaborate with OpenAI’s internal Detection & Response team to learn from real operational needs and develop reusable capabilities.
Help develop Codex-based workflows that allow defenders to investigate, create, test, and improve security content using the tools they already trust.
Work with security vendors and customers on integrations, design partnerships, and early deployments.
Define practical measures of product quality, including accuracy, usefulness, safety, adoption, and improvements in analyst efficiency.
Help establish appropriate safeguards for permissions, approvals, auditability, tenant isolation, and high-impact security actions.
Support product launches, technical demonstrations, customer engagements, and practitioner-focused content.
Turn lessons from individual engagements into repeatable products, playbooks, and platform capabilities.
You Might Thrive in This Role If You
Have experience building enterprise, developer, infrastructure, or cybersecurity products.
Are excited by zero-to-one product development and comfortable working in areas where the product, market, and technology are still evolving.
Understand how to move from a compelling technical capability to a product that users can depend on.
Can work effectively with researchers, engineers, designers, security practitioners, and commercial teams.
Have strong product judgment and can balance user value, technical feasibility, safety, and speed.
Are comfortable working directly with customers and partners to learn, prototype, and iterate.
Can make complex technical systems understandable without oversimplifying them.
Care deeply about building products that are measurable, trustworthy, and useful in real operational environments.
Are willing to operate at multiple levels—from product direction and roadmap discussions to detailed workflow design and launch execution.
Nice to Have
Experience with security operations, detection and response, threat intelligence, identity security, endpoint security, or security analytics.
Familiarity with products such as SIEM, EDR, XDR, SOAR, network security, identity platforms, or security validation tools.
Experience building AI products, agentic systems, developer tools, or enterprise integrations.
Familiarity with model evaluations, benchmark design, or human-in-the-loop product workflows.
Experience building partner ecosystems, APIs, connectors, or platform products.
A history of working closely with technical or practitioner communities.
What Success Could Look Like
In this role, you will help the team:
Identify a small number of high-value defensive workflows where OpenAI models can create a meaningful advantage.
Ship products that move beyond demonstrations and become part of how defenders work.
Establish productive feedback loops between practitioners, product development, evaluations, and model research.
Build reusable Codex workflows and integrations rather than one-off customer solutions.
Demonstrate measurable improvements in defensive outcomes and analyst productivity.
Develop trusted relationships with internal security teams, customers, and security technology partners.
Contribute to OpenAI becoming a respected and useful member of the broader cyber defense community.
An example central measure of progress will be: Measured improvement in defensive outcomes per analyst-hour.
This role will be part of a small, highly collaborative team. Product direction will be developed in close partnership with cyber leadership, security practitioners, research, engineering, and other product teams across OpenAI.

Listed by OpenAI for a position based in the United States. Employers on this board attest they are hiring domestically.
OpenAI’s Cyber team works to make frontier AI safe, trusted, and transformative for developers and enterprises.
This team is building the security foundation for Codex: the native controls that govern what Codex can access and do, and the interfaces that allow customers and security partners to inspect, constrain, approve, and respond to Codex activity.
Our goal is to make Codex secure by default, governable by enterprises, and interoperable with the security products customers already trust. This extends the existing product direction around tenant-scoped tools, guarded actions, approval systems, and scalable partner interfaces.
About the Role
We are looking for a deeply technical Product Manager to help build Codex security controls and the partner ecosystem around them.
This role focuses on securing Codex itself: how identity, permissions, tools, MCP servers, repositories, secrets, networks, and high-impact actions are governed across Codex products.
You will also help define standard interfaces through which authorized customer and partner systems can provide security context, inspect activity, return policy decisions, receive telemetry, and initiate bounded responses.
You will work closely with Codex product and engineering, OpenAI Security and Safety, enterprise customers, and partners across application security, identity, cloud security, data security, infrastructure, and security operations.
In this Role you Will
Build native security controls for Codex
Partner with engineering, design, security, and safety teams to develop controls for:
Identity, roles, permissions, and tenant isolation.
Access to repositories, files, tools, MCP servers, secrets, networks, and infrastructure.
Read, write, execute, and deployment authority.
Human and policy-based approvals.
Prompt-injection and untrusted-content defenses.
Audit trails, provenance, stop conditions, revocation, and rollback.
Help establish a graduated authority model in which local, read-only, and reversible actions require less friction than actions involving production systems, credentials, sensitive data, or irreversible changes.
Define partner interfaces
Develop common, versioned interfaces that allow customer-selected security products to participate in Codex workflows.
These interfaces may support:
Sharing trusted identity, task, resource, and environment context.
Inspecting code, commands, artifacts, tool calls, or planned actions.
Returning allow, deny, constrain, or require-approval decisions.
Exporting normalized execution and security telemetry.
Pausing activity, revoking access, or requiring reauthorization.
Define clear requirements for authentication, authorization, customer consent, data minimization, latency, retries, failure behavior, auditability, and backwards compatibility.
Ensure integrations use shared platform contracts rather than creating a different Codex architecture for every partner.
Build the partner ecosystem
Work directly with security vendors and enterprise design partners to turn the interfaces into production integrations.
Create partner SDKs, reference implementations, technical documentation, test environments, conformance suites, and certification requirements.
Prioritize partners based on customer value, technical relevance, deployment readiness, and their ability to improve the shared platform—not simply logo value or launch timing.
Turn lessons from individual partner engagements into reusable product capabilities.
Shape the customer experience
Define how enterprise administrators configure and understand Codex security controls, including:
Policies by user, workspace, repository, environment, tool, or action.
Approved security providers and permitted data sharing.
Approval requirements and time-limited exceptions.
Policy inheritance and conflict resolution.
Audit, investigation, and incident-response workflows.
Ensure developers receive clear, actionable explanations when an action is blocked or requires approval, rather than an opaque policy error.
Establish evaluation and launch gates
Work with security, safety, research, and engineering teams to test whether controls work under realistic and adversarial conditions.
Evaluate risks such as permission bypass, prompt injection, malicious tools, secret exposure, cross-tenant access, stale authorization, partner outages, conflicting decisions, and incomplete audit evidence.
Help determine when new Codex capabilities have sufficient controls, reliability, and usability for broader deployment.
You Might Thrive in This Role If You
Have built enterprise security, developer-platform, infrastructure, or control-plane products.
Think naturally in terms of trust boundaries, failure modes, and abuse paths.
Can balance security, developer productivity, latency, reliability, and customer control.
Have experience building integrations across complex enterprise systems or partner ecosystems.
Can turn conflicting partner requirements into a coherent platform.
Communicate credibly with developers, security architects, CISOs, researchers, and partner product teams.
Prefer measurable security outcomes and real adoption over demonstrations or integration announcements.
Nice to Have
Experience in application security, identity, cloud security, data security, source control, CI/CD, SIEM, or enterprise governance.
Familiarity with RBAC, ABAC, policy-as-code, OAuth, OIDC, workload identity, or secrets management.
Experience with AI agents, MCP, sandboxed execution, prompt-injection defenses, or agent-security evaluations.
Experience building SDKs, developer platforms, integration marketplaces, or certification programs.
What Success Looks Like
During your first six months, you will have helped establish:
A clear roadmap for native Codex controls and partner-extensible controls.
A common architecture for security context, policy decisions, inspection, telemetry, and response.
Initial reference integrations with a focused group of partners.
Evaluation and launch criteria for high-risk Codex capabilities.
Baseline measures for control coverage, bypass resistance, latency, reliability, and developer experience.
During your first year, you will have helped ship meaningful controls across sensitive Codex workflows, brought standardized partner interfaces into production use, and demonstrated that enterprises can grant Codex greater authority without sacrificing visibility, control, or accountability.

The Integrity team builds the systems OpenAI uses to understand, prevent, and respond to misuse across our products. We partner with Product, Policy, Safety Systems, User Operations, Security, Legal, Privacy, OpenAI for Government, and research teams to turn policy and threat models into product controls, review workflows, measurement systems, and enforcement paths.
About the Role
We are hiring a Product Manager to own Integrity's product strategy for sensitive deployments: contexts where model capability, customer or deployment setting, privacy constraints, and misuse potential make the operating bar unusually high. This includes government and other high stakes deployments, regulated or high-trust enterprise contexts, zero data retention and privacy-constrained environments, and agentic workflows where harm can unfold across many steps rather than a single prompt.
The Sensitive Deployments PM will focus on high-consequence use cases relevant to government deployments and broader deployment-readiness questions for high-risk domains (e.g., healthcare), while building reusable Integrity capabilities for agentic detection and enforcements in these environments.
This position is based in San Francisco, CA, with relocation assistance available.
In this role, you will:
Own the roadmap for sensitive deployment Integrity controls and readiness criteria.
Define how we measure residual risk, decision quality, review quality, and mitigation effectiveness.
Build agentic investigation and context-assembly workflows for complex, multi-step misuse patterns.
Partner with Policy, Legal, Privacy, Safety Systems, User Ops, Government, and product teams to build shared capabilities.
Create launch and deployment playbooks for sensitive customer, capability, and product contexts.
You might thrive in this role if you:
Have shipped complex product systems in AI, integrity, trust and safety, security, privacy, risk, government, regulated enterprise, or AI safety.
Can turn ambiguous policy and threat-model questions into product requirements, metrics, operational workflows, and tradeoff frameworks.
Are energized by agentic AI products and want to build the platform layer that makes them safer to deploy.
Care about security, privacy, and responsible deployment, while still wanting to build concrete product systems.
