Overview
Application
Let’s face it, a company whose mission is human transformation better have some fresh thinking about the employer/employee relationship.
We do. We can’t cram it all in here, but you’ll start noticing it from the first interview.
Even our candidate experience is different. And when you get an offer from us (and accept it), you get way more than a paycheck. You get a personal BetterUp Coach, a development plan, a trained and coached manager, the most amazing team you’ve ever met (yes, each with their own personal BetterUp Coach), and most importantly, work that matters.
This makes for a remarkably focused and fulfilling work experience. Frankly, it’s not for everyone. But for people with fire in their belly, it’s a game-changing, career-defining, soul-lifting move.
Join us and we promise you the most intense and fulfilling years of your career, doing life-changing work in a fun, inventive, soulful culture.
If that sounds exciting—and the job description below feels like a fit—we really should start talking.
We are a hybrid company with a focus on in-person collaboration when necessary. Employees are expected to be available to work from one of our office hubs at least two days per week, or eight days per month. Our US hub locations include: Austin, TX; New York City, NY; San Francisco, CA; and the Washington, DC metro area. If this is a role based in Europe, our Europe hub locations are London, UK and Amsterdam, NL. Please ensure you can realistically commit to this structure before applying.
The Opportunity
You'll own a meaningful product area driving BetterUp's Human Transformation Platform — driving execution, building customer relationships, and shipping work that moves metrics. You'll operate as a builder-owner: someone who takes the product direction set by your Product Leader and turns it into reality through hands-on prototyping, direct customer engagement, and hypothesis-driven execution. This is a role for someone who ships with urgency and wants ownership over outcomes — not just outputs.
What You Own
Translate product vision into concrete execution plans and own delivery against them. You carry a clear point of view on where your product is headed and can articulate it to any stakeholder.
Connect your work to the broader product portfolio — building shared platform capabilities and aligning with peer PMs to ensure your product surface enhances the value of the overall platform.
Decide and move with imperfect information. You don't wait for alignment, permission, or consensus — you listen, synthesize, decide, and act. When you're wrong, you course-correct fast. You never stall.
Drive your cross-functional squad (Engineering, Design, Data) toward outcomes. Set the agenda, maintain productive tension with your engineering and design partners, and own the results.
Spend significant time with customers (external and internal) — discovery sessions, product demos, and direct conversations with enterprise buyers and admin users. You build relationships and use that signal to shape what you build.
Prototype working demos with AI tools (Claude, Cursor, Replit, Figma Make) before engineering spends a sprint. Run hypothesis-driven experiments; kill what isn't working and redirect without drama.
Define and track success metrics for your product surface, ensuring the work delivers measurable business value. Anticipate and proactively mitigate risks.
What We’re Looking For
Experience
5+ years in product management or related roles, with demonstrated ownership of product outcomes — not just feature delivery.
Experience building platform, configuration tooling or admin-facing products in B2B enterprise environments — for example policy engines, logic-based systems, workflow configuration, or permissions systems.
Direct customer exposure in enterprise contexts — you've been in the room with buyers and admin users, not just reading summaries. You know how to turn those conversations into product hypotheses.
Domain expertise in organizational transformation, human transformation, talent intelligence, or related fields is a plus.
Skills & Competencies
Relentless agency. You have an internal locus of control — when something isn't working, you own it and fix it rather than waiting for someone else to act. Humility to know what you don't know; relentlessness to figure it out.
Strong executive communication skills — you can tell the story of your product, your bets, and your learnings clearly to stakeholders at all levels.
Developing product vision and strategic thinking. You have a point of view on where your product should go and can defend it with evidence, while staying open to updating that view as you learn.
Systems thinking and technical curiosity. Partner deeply with engineering on data model and architecture decisions. You won't write the code, but you'll be in the room where the object model gets decided.
Cross-functional collaboration — you can align R&D and go-to-market partners toward shared goals and hold the team accountable to outcomes.
AI-native fluency. You build working prototypes and functional demos using AI tools (Claude, Cursor, Replit, Figma Make) before engineering spends a sprint. You can modify prompts, adjust flows, and run data analyses without filing a ticket. This is your default operating method, not a novelty.
Preferred Backgrounds
PMs from enterprise SaaS B2B environments, especially if you were part of helped scale from a single product to a multi-product product platform.
Former founders or early employees at high-growth B2B startups — people who have lived the zero-to-one journey and thrive in ambiguity.
Expertise in organizational transformation, human transformation, talent intelligence, or related fields.
Solution design experience — whether from consulting, customer-facing product roles, or implementation work — where you were personally involved in shaping what gets built with the buyer.
Why This Role
You'll own a product area integral to scaling a platform that enterprises are building their talent strategy on. Real ownership, real impact.
You'll work directly with customers — not behind layers of account management. If that's not appealing, this isn't the right role.
You'll operate with real autonomy. We're looking for people who want ownership and ambiguity, not clearer lanes and more consensus.
You'll build in an AI-native environment where prototyping with agents, compressing cycle times, and shipping fast are expected, not exceptional.
Our stakeholder complexity — enterprise buyers, alliances, members, coaches — is a feature for the right person: more interesting problems, more leverage.

If that sounds exciting—and the job description below feels like a fit—we really should start talking.
BetterUp's most strategic enterprise opportunities don't just need a great Solutions Engineer — they need someone whose reputation precedes them. As Principal Solutions Engineer, you'll be a trusted advisor to our executive leadership team, the single-threaded owner of platform-defining engagements, and a recognized technical voice in enterprise HR Tech that opens doors before a deal ever begins.
This role exists at the intersection of SE excellence, executive influence, and external credibility. You'll define how BetterUp is perceived by technical buyers across the market — not just in individual accounts. And you'll set the long-term technical vision for the SE function itself.
Note: The Principal Solutions Engineer title requires pre-approval from the SE Director and a Co-Founder. The substantive bar — a proprietary external network of CIO, CISO, and CFO-level relationships that cannot be built internally — is the reason this approval exists
What you’ll do:
Serve as single-threaded owner for BetterUp's most complex, platform-defining engagements — Fortune 100 deployments, government, multi-region rollouts, and deals where the primary buyer is not HR
Operate as a trusted advisor to the ELT (CEO, CRO, CPO, CTO) on platform strategy, integration roadmap, and the long-term design of the SE function
Bring a proprietary external network into BetterUp — CIO, CISO, and CFO-level relationships that exist before a deal starts and persist after it closes, accelerating enterprise pipeline in ways no internal team member can replicate
Define BetterUp's integration and security narrative at the industry level — shaping how technical buyers across the market perceive the platform, not just individual accounts
Advise the ELT on enterprise buyer trends, shifts in IT buying behavior, and how BetterUp's platform and GTM motion should evolve in response
Serve as single-threaded owner for key company-wide initiatives — scaled SE coverage models, platform integration roadmap, AI-driven SE tooling — mobilizing Product, Engineering, GTM, and Implementation to execute
Establish BetterUp as a thought leader in enterprise Solutions Engineering through external speaking, writing, and industry presence
Mentor leaders across the SE function and GTM organization; serve as a talent magnet that raises the bar for who wants to work here
If you have some or all of the following, please apply:
15+ years in Solutions Engineering, Pre-Sales, or Technical Consulting, including experience building or leading SE functions at high-growth enterprise SaaS companies
An external reputation in enterprise SE or HR Tech — recognized by peers, referenced by customers, and credible at the CIO/CISO/CFO level before a deal begins
A rolodex of C-suite and VP Engineering relationships across enterprise HR Tech that you can bring to BetterUp and activate on behalf of strategic deals
Proven ability to advise executive leadership (CEO, CRO, CPO) on platform strategy, GTM motion, and SE function design
Deep expertise across HRIS, LMS, SSO, API integration ecosystems, and enterprise compliance frameworks — advising at the architecture and strategy level
Track record of owning and closing the most complex enterprise deals: Fortune 100, government, multi-region, multi-stakeholder, long-cycle commitments
Experience building or significantly maturing an SE function — not just contributing to one
Demonstrated thought leadership: external speaking, published writing, or recognized influence on how enterprise SE practice evolves in your market

If that sounds exciting—and the job description below feels like a fit—we really should start talking.
At BetterUp, the hardest deals aren't won on features — they're won on trust, technical credibility, and the ability to build a business case that resonates beyond the People function. As a Staff Solutions Engineer, you'll be the technical architect for BetterUp's most strategic enterprise engagements, and the person who makes the entire SE function smarter over time.
You'll own the largest, most complex opportunities — Key Accounts, Strategic Enterprise, Government — where the primary buyer may be a CIO, CISO, or CFO before they're ever a CHRO. You'll also build the systems, playbooks, and AI-augmented workflows that scale what you know across the team. This isn't just a senior individual contributor role. It's the technical backbone of how BetterUp wins and grows in enterprise.
What you’ll do:
Serve as technical architect on BetterUp's largest and most strategic opportunities — Key Accounts, Strategic Enterprise, and Government deals ($2M–$15M+), owning the full pre-sales cycle from discovery through handoff
Own peer-level relationships with CIO, CISO, and VP Engineering buyers — earned through domain depth, sustained over deal cycles, and independent of HR as the primary champion
Build the business case in CFO and COO terms: structure ROI narratives, model value independently, and position BetterUp's platform in language that resonates outside the People function
Anticipate integration, security, and platform feasibility challenges before they surface — bringing structured recommendations and clear tradeoffs to the deal team and to Product
Define and maintain reusable SE assets — industry-specific blueprint libraries, scaled demo archetypes, integration pattern catalogs — that lift the capability of the entire SE team
Lead the SE function's AI and automation strategy: identify highest-leverage opportunities, pilot them with rigor, and embed what works into team-wide practice
Coach SEs on navigating business-driven deals, developing non-HR buyer relationships, and operating in complex, multi-stakeholder enterprise environments
Serve as the most senior IC technical voice in GTM strategic planning, SE function design, and platform roadmap conversations with Product and Engineering leadership
If you have some or all of the following, please apply:
10+ years in Solutions Engineering, Pre-Sales, or Technical Consulting in enterprise SaaS, with multiple years owning the most complex deals at your organization
Active, nameable relationships with CIO, CISO, or VP Engineering-level buyers — and a track record of closing deals where IT or Finance, not HR, was the primary champion
Deep fluency across HRIS, LMS, SSO, and API-based integration ecosystems — advising at the architecture level, not just the configuration level
Expert-level command of enterprise security posture, data residency, and compliance frameworks (SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR) in global enterprise contexts
Demonstrated ability to build ROI narratives and business cases for CFO and COO audiences independently
Experience building SE team infrastructure — playbooks, blueprint libraries, training programs, integration pattern catalogs — that reduced dependency on individual expertise
Proficiency using AI tools (Claude, Figma Make, Python prototyping) to amplify SE leverage across blueprint generation, demo automation, and POC development
Track record of mentoring and developing more junior SEs and contributing to the maturity of an SE function

The Opportunity
BetterUp is looking for a Principal Product Designer (P6) to own the design vision for Partner Experience — the B2B layer through which enterprise HR leaders, program administrators, and organizational decision-makers interact with BetterUp. This surface spans Partner Hub, Performance Intelligence, and the reporting and configuration layer that connects BetterUp's coaching impact to business outcomes.
Partner Experience is where enterprise deals are won or lost, where HR executives decide whether BetterUp is indispensable, and where member and coaching data gets translated into decisions that affect entire organizations. The designer who owns this domain sets the vision for how some of the most data-rich, constraint-heavy surfaces in our portfolio should work.
Reporting to the VP of Design, you'll operate as a peer to senior product and engineering leadership — a principal-level IC who brings strategic clarity to hard problems and executes with precision.
What you’ll do:
Own the end-to-end design vision for Partner Hub, Performance Intelligence, and analytics and reporting surfaces
Shape how HR executives and administrators make sense of complex organizational data, translating behavioral and performance signals into experiences that drive insight, trust, and action
Lead 0→1 design work on ambiguous, high-stakes problems, bringing a strong point of view to challenges that don't yet have obvious solutions
Work directly with Product, Engineering, Research, and People Science from the earliest stages, influencing problem framing and roadmap priorities
Design scalable UX patterns that hold up across partners with vastly different organizational structures, program configurations, and reporting needs
Build and maintain foundational design patterns for enterprise B2B surfaces that enable speed and consistency as the product grows
Actively contribute to BetterUp's design culture, participating in cross-pod critiques and serving as the connective voice between the member experience and the partner data story it generates
If you have some or all of the following, please apply:
Visual design taste and craft are the foundation of this role. This is not a soft skill—it is the core of what it means to be a Principal Designer at BetterUp. Your portfolio must demonstrate it.
10+ years of product design experience, with sustained time at a consumer or B2B SaaS company where design played a central role in product strategy
A portfolio that demonstrates exceptional visual craft, systems-level thinking, and the ability to operate across the full design spectrum—from early concept to polished execution—with portfolio evidence of taste, not just process
Deep expertise designing enterprise B2B surfaces: complex administrative workflows, data-dense dashboards, multi-role permission models, and B2B-to-B2C two-sided interactions
Proven track record of leading complex, multi-year design initiatives with measurable impact on product outcomes and user experience at an organizational level
Demonstrated ability to influence product and engineering direction at the VP and executive level—earning trust through clarity, craft, and strategic judgment
Strong design systems sensibility: you understand how foundational decisions compound across a product at scale, and you’ve built or meaningfully shaped systems that teams rely on
Experience designing products at the intersection of human behavior and technology; familiarity with AI-native product patterns is a strong plus
Exceptional communication and storytelling skills—you make complex ideas clear and compelling to any audience
AI fluency: you actively use AI tools in your design practice and bring informed perspective on how AI capabilities should shape product experiences
Preferred Qualifications:
