Role Overview
Brigit processes billions of dollars in payments. In this role, you’ll sit at the intersection of our payments platform, membership, and credit teams — with a mandate to optimize the balance between transaction costs and transaction success rates. The work you do will have a direct impact on our company's profitability.
You’ll be a member of the Data & Analytics team, embedded in Team Money, our cross-functional payments platform team. Day-to-day, that means you’ll focus on evaluating patterns in payment failures, successes, and cost drivers, partnering with Data Science to evaluate predictive models, and helping Engineering and Product make smarter decisions about how we collect. The ideal candidate brings sharp analytical instincts, real payments domain knowledge, and the kind of ownership mentality that turns insights into action.
What you’ll be doing
Analyze the tradeoff between transaction costs and success rates across ACH and card rails, and develop recommendations to improve both
Investigate payment failure patterns by institution, response code, and payment method — forming hypotheses, validating them in data, and driving remediations with Engineering, Product and Operations
Evaluate payment routing and collection strategies and size the impact of new configurations or vendor capabilities
Assess retry logic for cost and member experience implications and recommend smarter approaches
Build and refine alerting to detect payment anomalies quickly — unusual return rate spikes, processing failures, or unexpected changes in transaction behavior
Collaborate with Data Science to support the deployment and ongoing evaluation of predictive models that inform collection timing and payment decisions
Build monitoring dashboards to track model performance post-launch and surface when adjustments are needed
Translate model outputs into business-legible insights for stakeholders across product, finance, and leadership
What you have
7+ years of experience in payments analytics, payment operations, or a closely related role in fintech, banking, or financial services
Advanced SQL — you write complex queries from scratch and are comfortable maintaining data models
Strong working knowledge of ACH, card networks, and payment processing mechanics — including return codes, retry logic, and settlement timing
Experience partnering with or supporting Data Science teams — you can evaluate model outputs, understand their limitations, and translate them into business decisions
Sharp investigative instincts — you can spot an anomaly in payment data, form a hypothesis, and see it through to resolution
Comfortable in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment where ownership is expected and priorities evolve
Familiarity with NACHA return rate requirements, AML, or other fintech compliance standards is a plus

If autonomy, ownership, and having meaningful input at the company you work for is important to you, come join our growing team!
Brigit is doing innovative and exciting work, but don’t just take our word for it, our work is being recognized by others:
Brigit is a financial health platform helping everyday Americans build financial resilience. Our Data team sits at the center of every product, pricing, and promotion decision — and Analytics Engineering is the foundation that makes trustworthy, consistent data possible across the company.
As our Senior Analytics Engineer, you'll own the analytics layer end-to-end: the dbt models, the orchestration, the documentation, and much of the metric definitions that the entire company relies on. This is a high-ownership, high-visibility IC role. You'll be the connective tissue between raw data and the analysts, PMs, and finance partners who depend on it every day.
What you'll be doing
Own the dbt project(s). Maintain, evolve, and review pull requests across our dbt codebase in Snowflake. You'll be a code owner on the repo and will uphold and improve our SQL style, materialization patterns, incremental model conventions, and layered architecture.
Orchestrate the analytics pipeline. Manage our production dbt jobs and their SLAs (currently targeting 7AM ET freshness), monitor runtimes in Metaplane, and proactively tune orchestration to keep jobs healthy as the data volume grows.
Define and defend shared metrics. Be the authority on key metric definitions and ensure analysts, dashboards, and downstream models are using the canonical source. Participate in definition discussions and ensure decisions are documented.
Drive documentation culture. Build and own our Data tables documentation wiki and dbt model documentation. Write runbooks for incident response, onboarding guides, and contribution standards so the team can operate confidently and we can easily provide context for various genAI tools
Lead data quality and observability. Manage Metaplane monitors, triage alerts, and maintain data contracts with downstream consumers. Debug anomalies end-to-end — from ingestion to the dashboard.
Deprecate the old, build the new. Continuously identify models that no longer serve us, shepherd them through deprecation with proper signoff, and clean up corresponding warehouse tables and monitors.
Support compliance and vendor management. Handle audit and compliance reviews involving our dbt and BI tooling (Upbound/SOX), manage our dbt contract renewals, and track consumption-based usage.
Mentor the broader data team. Run code reviews with domain analysts, establish review coverage by product area, and help analysts grow their dbt contribution skills.
What you have
5+ years of experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, or a closely related role
Strong SQL and data modeling fundamentals with opinions about mart layer architecture
Experience with Snowflake (or comparable cloud warehouse) in a production context
Comfort owning orchestration tooling (Airflow, dbt Cloud, or equivalent)
A track record of building durable documentation that actually gets used
Strong communication skills across both technical and business audiences
Curiosity and drive to explore and integrate new tools in a rapidly evolving landscape
Ownership mindset and a bias for action
The anticipated annual base salary for this position is $170,000 - $190,000. We are looking for a highly skilled and mission-driven Engineering Manager to join our Growth team. Our Growth organization plays a critical role in expanding access to Brigit by helping more low-income Americans discover, adopt, and realize value from our products. In this role, you will partner closely with a cross-functional growth team—including product, design, data, marketing, and business operations—to drive impact across the top of our user funnel. What you have:
7+ years of hands-on professional software development experience

A desire to build an inclusive, diverse, and high performing team. Even better if you've done that many times already in a startup environment.
Experience regularly collaborating with product and design teams, and partnering closely with marketing stakeholders
Experience building or operating product growth funnels, including instrumentation, experimentation, and metric-driven iteration
You've built large and complex projects at scale, and maintained them over many release cycles
We use Java running in GCP, and React Native. If you have experience in that stack, all the better, but it’s not strictly necessary.

Business Insider’s Most Promising Consumer Startups 2022
Forbes Fintech 50 2022
Role Overview:
Brigit is looking for senior fullstack engineers to help us scale our next-generation consumer finance platform to millions of users in the next year. We’ve found tremendous traction helping low income Americans make ends meet; now is the time to scale. We’ve built a mobile/web app on React and React Native with Typescript, and a backend of Java services in Google Cloud. It’s served us well so far, but we need help making it even better.
Our team has two main goals:
1) Feature development supporting numerous external and internal applications. The next generation of our product may look nothing like it does today - and we welcome that! The degree to which we implement new user flows, compute our proprietary algorithms, integrate with 3rd party APIs, store data, and serve traffic will make or break our success.
2) Scalability of our customer-facing applications. Growing from 100k to 10 million users presents unique technical challenges. The efficiency and reliability of both our customer-facing and internal tools needs to improve. We have fun Data Engineering tasks, automation procedures, and availability/monitoring problems to tackle. We also have many user-facing projects, including the creation and upkeep of components and libraries, GraphQL API design, testing and QA processes, and CI/CD enhancements.
Our team is small and nimble; you'll be given an extraordinary amount of autonomy and ownership. More importantly, you have a large say in the direction of the company -- both in terms of our technology and our product.
Recent accomplishments of our team are:
Building a Payments API platform that moves millions of dollars on a daily basis
Implementing the advanced mathematical processes behind our proprietary risk algorithm
Normalizing relational database schema to optimize for performance for over 1 million users
End to end User notification (via SMS, Email, Push) capabilities
Building internal tools that enable our Customer Support Specialists to help our customers ASAP
One of our greatest strengths is the speed at which we move. If you want to propose a new way of doing things, we are all ears. If you have an idea for a new feature, we'll be open to it. A new design paradigm? Bring it on.
At Brigit you can enjoy a mature CI/CD platform with automated deployment processes, an easy-to-use local/staging/production development environment, and teammates willing to fill in the gaps. We automate manual things so we can focus on thinking and building something that helps people.
As a fullstack engineer we’re looking for someone with experience owning a feature from start to finish on both the frontend and backend. We don’t expect everyone to know everything in our stack, but having one side of overlap (frontend/backend) that you feel very comfortable with will set you up for success here.
*This is a full-time role which will operate out of Brigit’s New York office, with the option to work remote 2-3x per week.
What You'll Be Doing:
Evolving the APIs supporting User flows to ensure a great user experience
Optimizing queries and relational database schema to ensure speedy response times
Implementing algorithms related to monetary transaction evaluation, risk management, income verification, and other predictive models
Integrating with new 3rd party APIs to serve millions of customers
Decreasing our customer service workload by building improvements to the product or improving our internal automations
Implementing interaction and motion design for more delightful user experiences
Automating visual testing & visual regression detection processes
Creating new mobile & web clients for upcoming products
A/B testing and optimizing features that boost our business’ bottom line
What you have:
6+ years of industry experience as a software engineer
REST based services and API development experience mainly using Java
Experience building UI/UX for new features from end-to-end using React or React Native
GraphQL experience a plus
Up-to-date grasp of the constantly evolving JS language standards, ES6 and beyond (we use Typescript)
Experience with SQL databases, constructing schemas, performing migrations and writing analytical queries
Kubernetes, Docker or other container system experience is a plus
Quantitative skills, knowledge or experience in Finance is a plus
Experience leading teams or mentoring junior engineers is a plus
You are a self-starter, self-motivated, and able to work independently and manage multiple projects under minimal supervision

Brigit is doing innovative and exciting work, but don’t just take our word for it, our work is being recognized by others:
Brigit is looking for fullstack engineers to help us scale our next-generation consumer finance platform to millions of users in the next year.
Feature development supporting numerous external and internal applications. The next generation of our product may look nothing like it does today - and we welcome that! The degree to which we implement new user flows, compute our proprietary algorithms, integrate with 3rd party APIs, store data, and serve traffic will make or break our success.
Scalability of our customer-facing applications.
Allowing users to connect their Payroll as an income source
A/B testing and optimizing features that help our users and our business
Optimizing queries and relational database schema to ensure speedy response times
Implementing algorithms related to monetary transaction evaluation, risk management, income verification, and other predictive models
Integrating with new 3rd party APIs to serve millions of customers
Decreasing our customer service workload by building improvements to the product or improving our internal automations
Implementing interaction and motion design for more delightful user experiences
Creating new mobile & web clients for upcoming products
A/B testing and optimizing features that help our users and our business
What you have:
4+ years of industry experience as a software engineer
Experience using AI tooling efficiently, familiar with best practices
Experience building REST based services and API development, ideally in Java
Experience building UI/UX for new features from end-to-end using React or React Native
GraphQL experience a plus
Up-to-date grasp of the constantly evolving JS language standards, ES6 and beyond (we use Typescript)
Experience with SQL databases, constructing schemas, performing migrations and writing analytical queries
Kubernetes, Docker or other container system experience is a plus
Quantitative skills, knowledge or experience in Finance is a plus
