Site Reliability Engineer, Compute
About Fluidstack
We exist to make humanity more free. For most of human history, you farmed or you starved. Technology gave people more time for the things they wanted to do, instead of things they had to do. Powerful AI will be the biggest lever for human choice we've ever built - but only if models are aligned with what humanity actually wants. There are groups building AI who don't share these goals. Whoever deploys frontier compute infrastructure fastest will decide whether AI expands human freedom or shrinks it.
We're singularly focused on delivering 10 to 100s of GWs of compute faster than anyone else, rethinking every layer of the stack. We acquire power, design and build data centers, and operate them - with teams spanning hardware and software. Speed and scale are our key differentiators. Come be a part of building civilization-scale infrastructure for AI.
We hire people who care deeply about this problem space. If that is you, please apply!
How We Operate
Extreme ownership. Full autonomy. Own things end to end often taking on scope outside your core role without being asked to get things done.
Velocity. We drive everything forward as fast as possible.
First principles. Challenge every assumption. Zero analogy thinking, no egos, the best idea wins.
Love of the game. The frontier of AI is the most interesting problem of our time. We put in long hours at high intensity to push the frontier forward.
The Production Engineering Team
Examples of key exciting problems the team is working on
Build the repair pipeline that keeps pace with a fleet of 10s to 100s of GWs: at our scale, a GPU failure isn't a ticket. It's a throughput problem. We're building the automation that takes a chip from fault detection through triage, RMA, and return to service without human intervention.
Qualify every new GPU generation inside a 6-month build window: our platform covers burn-in, performance baselining, and NPI execution. It has to define "production-ready" before a site goes live, not after. New hardware gets certified at speeds unheard of in the industry.
Migrate live compute at construction speed: we're converting clusters across production sites simultaneously, bringing new sites online, and making Kubernetes-orchestrated bare metal sustainable at the pace we're building – multiple GW annually.
See and own the entire fleet in real time, at any scale: build the observability and orchestration layer that makes hyperscale AI compute actually operable. Debug, tune, and performance-test infrastructure that grows by another site every few months.
Role Scope
Own compute fleet health end to end. Build the metrics pipelines, alerting, and unified health view that tell you the true state of every GPU in production — across Kubernetes-orchestrated workloads and bare metal, at scale.
Turn deployment/repair into a pipeline, not a procedure. Build and own the automation that takes a compute failure from detection through triage, parts management, and return to service. No one-off scripts, no heroics.
Design and expand the GPU qualification platform. Burn-in, performance baselining, and NPI execution for every new GPU generation. You define what "good" looks like before hardware goes into production.
Own Redfish and BMC tooling. Firmware-level telemetry, log collection at fleet scale, and the low-level access layer that repair automation and health tooling depend on.
Own end-to-end reliability, scalability, and operation of the compute fleet at-scale. Fluidstack is building one of the largest GPU fleets in the world and that can only be accomplished with aggressive automation, tooling, and incident discipline.
What We're Looking For
The below is a starting point. We always make space for exceptional people, so if you don't fit this role exactly, tell us where you would.
You treat toil as a bug. Manual steps in a repair workflow are a backlog item, not a job description.
You have an instinct for hardware. You're comfortable reasoning about failure modes at the firmware and silicon level, not just the software stack above it.
You move toward ambiguity, not away from it. You walk into the fog, build the map, and explain it to everyone else.
You learn at a steep slope. You reach real competence in an unfamiliar domain fast. We value this over existing expertise.
You carry a pager without flinching. You run the incident, write the postmortem, fix the systemic cause, and move on.
You're fluent with AI tooling. LLM APIs, MCP servers, and agentic frameworks, and you drive Claude Code, Cursor, or similar every day.
You've shipped production automation that other teams depend on, and you're comfortable in any language using AI coding tools.
Bonus: Hardware lifecycle management and RMA automation. BMC/Redfish or IPMI tooling. GPU qualification or burn-in frameworks. Workflow and orchestration engines (Temporal, Cadence). Metrics and alerting pipelines (Prometheus, Grafana). Go or Python...

The Controls Team
Examples of key problems the team is working on
Deliver the controls behind 10s to 100s of GWs of data centers this decade.
Own real-time load control and MEP and behind-the-meter integration.
Automate Level 4 and Level 5 commissioning.
Drive autonomous, robotic deployment.
Role Scope
Lead the controls design development team, owning the template designs, SOOs, points lists, BOMs, and Division 25 specifications that every modular data center build inherits.
Set the technical direction for controls design, deciding the standards, platforms, and reference architectures the whole fleet builds from.
Drive design decisions to resolution across mechanical, electrical, commissioning, and construction, so controls design is never the thing holding up a site's schedule.
Grow the team, hiring controls engineers and raising the bar on the design work they produce.
Own the quality and repeatability of every design package that leaves the team, so the hundredth site is designed faster and cleaner than the first.
What We're Looking For
The below is a starting point. We always make space for exceptional people, so if you don’t fit this role exactly, .
You’ve led a controls or design engineering team, owning both the technical output and the people producing it.
You’ve set controls design standards, reference architectures, or specifications that others built from across multiple projects, not just delivered your own designs.
You’ve authored or owned Division 25 integrated automation specifications, and you know what separates a spec that holds up in the field from one that generates change orders.
You’ve written sequences of operations and seen them through to working code, so you can tell when a design is genuinely buildable and not just correct on paper.
You make design decisions fast and defend them across mechanical, electrical, and construction stakeholders who each want something different.
You’ve hired controls engineers and grown people from competent to excellent, and other teams trust the work your team ships.
-
Bonus: Modular or productized data center delivery. Data center mechanical and electrical systems (chiller plants, CRAH/CRAC, fan wall units, switchgear). BMS and SCADA platforms over BACnet and Modbus. CSI MasterFormat and Division 25 authorship. Building a controls design function up from a small team.
We are committed to pay equity and transparency.

Deliver the controls behind 10s to 100s of GWs of data centers this decade.
Own real-time load control and MEP and behind-the-meter integration.
Automate Level 4 and Level 5 commissioning.
Drive autonomous, robotic deployment.
Role Scope
Develop and test template PLC programs for the standard mechanical equipment across every data center, chiller skids, fan wall units, CRAHs, and the rest, so one validated program deploys fleetwide instead of being rebuilt site by site.
Write portable code across mixed PLC hardware, Siemens, Codesys, and virtualized PLCs, so a program built once runs regardless of the controller underneath it.
Develop and tune sequences of operations with the controls and mechanical teams, then implement those SOOs directly in PLC code.
Install and wire PLCs and sensors in a lab environment, standing up real hardware to validate programs before they ever run on live equipment.
Debug programs against real IO and failure conditions on the bench so field commissioning becomes a verification step, not a debugging session.
What We're Looking For
The below is a starting point. We always make space for exceptional people, so if you don’t fit this role exactly, .
You’ve written and tested PLC programs for mechanical equipment, chillers, air handlers, pumps, or similar, and watched them run on real hardware, not only in simulation.
You’ve programmed across more than one PLC platform, Siemens, Codesys, or virtualized environments, and you don’t treat one vendor’s toolchain as the boundary of what’s possible.
You’ve turned a sequence of operations into working PLC code, and you’ve caught the gaps and contradictions in an SOO before they reached the controller.
You’ve wired PLCs, IO, and sensors yourself, and you’ve traced a fault down to the physical layer when a program that looked right on screen misbehaved on the bench.
You write structured, reusable code that the next engineer can read, so the templates you build get reused rather than rewritten.
You test against failure and edge cases, not just the expected path, and you find the problems in the lab instead of in a running data center.
-
Bonus: Data center mechanical systems (chiller plants, CRAH/CRAC, fan wall units). Structured Text and the IEC 61131-3 languages. BMS or SCADA integration over BACnet and Modbus. Hardware-in-the-loop or virtualized PLC testing.
We are committed to pay equity and transparency.

The Supply Chain Team
Examples of key problems the team is working on
Supply compute at a scale of 10s to 100s of GWs, the largest build out of compute in history. Qualify and dual-source across every critical equipment category, with lead-time and capacity thresholds tied directly to the forward build pipeline.
Make supply chain the reason we build faster than anyone. Our modular build redefines speed in this industry, and it lives or dies on supply chain. Keep procurement permanently off the critical path so schedule compression stays our advantage, not our constraint.
Build the most accurate supply chain prediction modeling that exists. Use the frontier of AI to forecast lead times, demand, and disruption with a precision the industry has never had, and turn that foresight into a structural edge.
Role Scope
Own the facility's air permit program with the Maricopa County Air Quality Department (Non-Title V or Title V as applicable): track permit conditions, runtime limits, and emission thresholds, and complete record-keeping and emissions reporting with zero exceedances.
Own EPCRA Tier II reporting and the SPCC spill prevention program, running drills and maintaining a trained spill response team.
Stand up and maintain an ISO 14001 Environmental Management System, aligning facility procedures to the framework and driving toward certification.
Own the environmental compliance budget and manage sampling labs, consultants, and disposal vendors, and manage and develop the environmental specialists assigned to the program.
Serve as primary liaison to ADEQ, the Maricopa County Air Quality Department, EPA Region 9, and the Authority Having Jurisdiction for inspections, audits, and permit compliance, and keep the master compliance calendar at zero missed deadlines.
What We're Looking For
The below is a starting point. We always make space for exceptional people, so if you don't fit this role exactly, tell us where you would.
You've managed an air permit program end to end, including permit condition tracking, emissions calculations, and reporting that passed agency review without exceedances.
You've owned EPCRA Tier II reporting and an SPCC program, run the drills, and kept a spill response team trained and ready.
You've stood up or maintained an ISO 14001 Environmental Management System, and can point to a certification or audit you carried through.
You've managed and developed environmental specialists, or owned the sampling-lab, consultant, and disposal-vendor relationships and budget for a compliance program.
You hold a technical background in environmental engineering, environmental science, or a related field, because emissions calculations and permit interpretation depend on it.
You've been the primary point of contact for a state or county environmental agency (ADEQ or a county air quality department) during inspections or audits, and closed out findings on your own timeline.
You run a compliance calendar with zero missed regulatory deadlines, not a tracker you reconcile after an agency notice arrives.
Bonus: ISO 14001 Lead Auditor certification. Title V or synthetic-minor air permit experience. Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) or Registered Environmental Manager (REM) credential. Multi-state environmental compliance experience.
Offers equity in the form of stock options.
We are committed to pay equity and transparency.

Own machine risk assessments for robotic work cells, AGVs, conveyance systems, and cobot deployments on the production floor, specifying safeguarding controls per ANSI/RIA R15.06, R15.08, ISO 10218-1/2, ISO/TS 15066, and the ANSI B11 series.
Lead incident investigations using 5-Why and fault tree analysis, drive corrective and preventive actions to closure, and serve as the site liaison to ADOSH for inspections, citations, and OSHA 300/300A record-keeping.
Chair the facility's Joint Health and Safety Committee, run the routine inspection program of walkthroughs and Gemba observations, and report leading and lagging safety KPIs to plant leadership monthly.
Partner with Engineering during equipment commissioning and capital projects to integrate safety-by-design principles and validate lockout and tag out procedures.

You've managed and developed safety specialists, coordinators, or technicians, and owned a program budget and vendor relationships, not just directed contractors.
You've led root-cause investigations using 5-Why or fault tree analysis on a manufacturing floor, and closed out the corrective actions, not just filed them.

You've partnered with engineering teams during equipment commissioning to build safety into the design stage rather than bolting it on afterward.
You track leading and lagging safety metrics and use them to change what plant leadership prioritizes month to month.
Bonus: Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), held or actively pursuing. OSHA 30-Hour General Industry card. Experience with collaborative robots and AGV/AMR safety programs. Lean or Six Sigma exposure applied to safety work.
Offers equity in the form of stock options.

Design, deliver, and evaluate safety training across new hire orientation, annual refreshers, and specialized certifications for a high-automation manufacturing workforce.
Coach supervisors and team leads on safety observation techniques, near-miss reporting, and behavior-based safety principles.
Own the facility compliance training calendar and LMS, tracking required training frequencies and certification expirations so no employee or role falls out of ADOSH or OSHA compliance.
Own the training program budget and manage outside training providers and certification vendors, and mentor safety committee members and junior safety staff into program owners.
Develop leading and lagging training KPIs and report completion, competency, and compliance trends to plant leadership monthly.

Workplace Health Manager
The Manufacturing Team
Examples of key problems the team is working on
Scale manufacturing. Grow manufacturing capacity and capability across the full production process, with the range to take on more products and higher volume at an industry leading pace.
Manufacture infrastructure. Build and operate a manufacturing ecosystem that delivers gigawatts of infrastructure per year.
Be an engine for growth. Solve problems faster, think bigger, and develop yourself and your team as quickly and dynamically as the company around you.
Role Scope
Run the facility ergonomics program: conduct job hazard analyses and ergonomic assessments using NIOSH, RULA, and REBA methodologies, and drive workstation redesigns that cut musculoskeletal disorder risk.
Plan and oversee industrial hygiene testing, including baseline and periodic exposure monitoring for noise, chemical vapors, and dusts, and interpret results against OSHA PELs, NIOSH RELs, and ACGIH TLVs.
Administer the PPE hazard assessment and respiratory protection program across the shop floor, including fit testing and medical clearance tracking.
Own the industrial hygiene budget and manage third-party IH labs and consultants, and manage and develop the occupational health specialists assigned to the program.
Collaborate with Industrial Engineering on line balancing and rotation schedules to minimize repetitive-motion exposure, and report ergonomic ROI metrics to plant leadership.
What We're Looking For
The below is a starting point. We always make space for exceptional people, so if you don't fit this role exactly, tell us where you would.
You've run a job hazard analysis and ergonomics program using NIOSH, RULA, or REBA methodologies, and turned findings into workstation redesigns that actually shipped.
You've designed and executed industrial hygiene sampling plans, including noise dosimetry and air sampling for vapors and particulates, and interpreted results against OSHA PELs, NIOSH RELs, or ACGIH TLVs.
You hold a technical background in industrial hygiene, occupational health, or a related science or engineering field, because interpreting exposure data and setting controls depends on it.
You've managed and developed occupational health or IH specialists, or owned the vendor relationships and budget for an IH program.
You've administered a respiratory protection and PPE hazard assessment program in a manufacturing environment, including fit testing and medical clearance tracking.
You've worked directly with industrial engineers on line balancing or rotation schedules to cut repetitive-motion exposure. You track improvement projects to ROI, not just completion, and report those numbers to leadership on a set cadence.
You track improvement projects to ROI, not just completion, and report those numbers to leadership on a set cadence.
Bonus: Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), held or actively pursuing. Certified Professional Ergonomist (CPE) or equivalent. Workers' compensation claims management experience. Familiarity with ISO 45001 management systems.
Offers equity in the form of restricted stock units.
We are committed to pay equity and transparency.

Role Scope
Own all production output at the Phoenix-area facility: throughput rate, takt adherence, quality escape rate, line uptime, and on-time shipment against customer delivery commitments.
Drive continuous improvement across all production lines, including root-cause analysis and corrective action on every throughput or quality deviation, from the line floor up.
Hold final product acceptance authority: nothing ships without your sign-off or explicit delegation, and you own the workforce interface with the on-site staffing partner to enforce that standard.
Own site readiness across tooling, fixturing, material flow, equipment, utilities, and floor layout, including all contractor and vendor relationships and full OSHA, NFPA 70E, and air quality permit compliance.
Build and develop the on-site manufacturing team, including production managers, supervisors, quality, and facilities staff, and own workforce planning across headcount ramp, shift structure, skill mix, and certification tracking.
What We’re Looking For
The below is a starting point. We always make space for exceptional people, so if you don’t fit this role exactly, .
You have run a high-volume discrete manufacturing facility end to end and can point to a specific output record: units per shift, defect rate, on-time delivery, or throughput improvement you personally drove.
You have managed a large on-site workforce through a third-party staffing provider and held that partner accountable to production and quality targets, not just headcount.
You have taken a facility from construction handover through first production to steady-state output and can walk through how you handled the ramp, what broke, and how you fixed it.
You design production systems rather than inherit them: you have personally set takt times, balanced lines, written standard work, and built visual management boards for a real facility.
OSHA 1910, NFPA 70E, and environmental permit compliance are active parts of your daily management system, not a separate function you hand off.
You build the culture on your floor through standard work and clear escalation paths, not through personality, and your supervisors know exactly what is expected and what triggers an escalation to you.
Bonus: Structural steel fabrication, heavy equipment assembly, or modular construction manufacturing. Lean or Six Sigma Black Belt. Experience commissioning robotic weld cells, CNC processing lines, or AGV material handling systems.
Salary & Benefits
Competitive total compensation package (salary + equity)
Retirement or pension plan, in line with local norms
Health, dental, and vision insurance
Generous PTO policy, in line with local norms
Total compensation may also include equity in the form of stock options.
We are committed to pay equity and transparency.

The Security Team
Examples of key problems the team is working on
You're securing the frontier of AI. The model weights training on our infrastructure are the most valuable and most targeted artifacts in technology, and we're standing up the compute to hold them faster than anyone ever has. A breach isn't a leak, it's the frontier walking out the door.
Build the entire security program from scratch. Most leaders inherit someone else's system and spend a career patching it. Here you own it end to end, bare metal to boardroom, as we scale across continents.
Your threat surface is measured in gigawatts. The customers running on our infrastructure are building the most consequential technology in human history, and being responsible for the physical and logical security of that work makes everything else feel small.
Role Scope
Lead incidents as a senior incident commander in the on-call rotation, and serve as the escalation backstop when a case rises above the responders on call.
Own the 24/7 coverage model, rotation discipline, and response SLAs for your US region, keeping the program humane and the bar high at the same time.
Build and develop a team of senior incident responders, setting the on-call expectations and quality bar they operate to.
Drive executive, legal, and customer communications during declared incidents, including regulated reporting and disclosure timelines.
Own the joint operating relationship with Physical Security and Data Center Operations for incidents that cross cyber, physical, and OT surfaces.
Run the post-incident review cadence and drive remediation to completion across detection, response, and infrastructure.
Hold the bar on the agentic triage layer, defining what the agent escalates and feeding incident learnings back to detection engineering and threat intelligence.
What We're Looking For
The below is a starting point. We always make space for exceptional people, so if you don't fit this role exactly, .
You've led material incidents end to end as a senior incident commander at organizations with sophisticated, well-resourced threat actors.
You've managed and grown a team of senior responders while staying in the on-call rotation yourself.
You've designed or run a 24/7 on-call program: coverage models, rotation discipline, acknowledgement and response SLAs, and escalation chains.
You move between technical containment and executive, legal, or customer-facing communications during a declared incident without losing the thread.
You've made disclosure-grade calls under regulatory and customer reporting clocks.
You've built operating relationships across security, infrastructure, and physical or facilities teams, and led incidents that crossed those boundaries.
You have well-founded opinions on what makes an on-call program humane and an incident response process effective, and you're ready to build one from a small senior core.
Bonus: Incident response bridging cyber, physical, and OT or ICS surfaces. Experience at critical-infrastructure operators, data centers, or 24/7 high-availability environments. Standing up or scaling an IR team and on-call program from scratch. Operating under FedRAMP, SEC, or similar regulated incident-reporting regimes. Agent-augmented IR, including triage, investigation, or response automation.
