Staff Controls Operator
About Fluidstack
We exist to make humanity more free. For most of human history, you farmed or you starved. Technology gave people more time for the things they wanted to do, instead of things they had to do. Powerful AI will be the biggest lever for human choice we've ever built - but only if models are aligned with what humanity actually wants. There are groups building AI who don't share these goals. Whoever deploys frontier compute infrastructure fastest will decide whether AI expands human freedom or shrinks it.
We're singularly focused on delivering 10 to 100s of GWs of compute faster than anyone else, rethinking every layer of the stack. We acquire power, design and build data centers, and operate them - with teams spanning hardware and software. Speed and scale are our key differentiators. Come be a part of building civilization-scale infrastructure for AI.
We hire people who care deeply about this problem space. If that is you, please apply!
How We Operate
Extreme ownership. Full autonomy. Own things end to end often taking on scope outside your core role without being asked to get things done.
Velocity. We drive everything forward as fast as possible.
First principles. Challenge every assumption. Zero analogy thinking, no egos, the best idea wins.
Love of the game. The frontier of AI is the most interesting problem of our time. We put in long hours at high intensity to push the frontier forward.
The Data Center Operations Team
Examples of key problems the team is working on
Operate at the scale of a nation, not a building. The fleet you run will draw more power than some countries, on the way to tens of gigawatts.
Fly the plane while it's being built. Sites come online in pieces, and you keep the live ones running flawlessly while construction continues around them.
Write the playbook, don't inherit it. No prior operations org has run at this speed and scale, so the standards you set become the standard.
Role Scope
Run the building management and controls systems (BMS, SCADA, EPMS) that keep live gigawatt-scale data centers cooling and powered in real time.
Own real-time load and thermal control across sites coming online in pieces, keeping the live halls running flawlessly while construction continues around them.
Write the operating procedures, alarm response runbooks, and control sequences that become the standard for every site that follows.
Diagnose and resolve controls faults on the floor, from a misbehaving chiller sequence to a breaker mis-operation, before they touch a training run.
Tune control sequences and setpoints to hold PUE and reliability targets as load ramps and hardware generations change.
What We're Looking For
The below is a starting point. We always make space for exceptional people, so if you don't fit this role exactly, tell us where you would.
You've operated the controls for live mission-critical facilities, data center, industrial, or power, and kept them running through faults, ramps, and construction next door.
You know BMS, SCADA, and EPMS platforms deep enough to diagnose a bad sequence or a misconfigured point, not just read the alarm.
You've written operating procedures and alarm response runbooks that other operators actually run.
You've resolved a real controls fault under pressure, on a live floor, with load on the line.
You tune control sequences and setpoints and can explain the tradeoff between reliability, efficiency, and cost.
You catch the drifting sensor or the wrong setpoint before it becomes an outage.
Bonus: Hyperscale or colocation data center operations. Liquid cooling controls. Electrical power monitoring systems. Behind-the-meter generation. Building the controls standards for a new fleet.
We are committed to pay equity and transparency.

Role Scope
Set the technical direction for compute qualification: methods, tooling, and the standards the lab holds hardware to.
Own the hardest qualifications yourself: first silicon, new platforms, and the failures nobody can explain.
Build the automation: test harnesses and data pipelines that multiply the lab's throughput.
Represent Labs to vendors and the fleet: the technical voice on what's ready and what isn't.
What We're Looking For
The below is a starting point. We always make space for exceptional people, so if you don't fit this role exactly, tell us where you would.
You've been the senior technical voice in hardware validation or systems engineering.
You've qualified early hardware, engineering samples or first-run systems, and shipped the findings.
You've built test automation others still use.
Your failure analyses go to root cause, not to plausible.
You mentor engineers up the debugging stack.
Bonus: Accelerator architecture depth. Signal and power integrity exposure. Large-scale burn-in design. Vendor engineering relationships.
We are committed to pay equity and transparency.

Engineer the water systems: makeup, treatment, filtration, and blowdown designed into the reference design.
Set the coolant standards for direct liquid cooling: chemistry, materials compatibility, and lifetime.
Run the vendor programs: treatment suppliers held to results, not service visits.
What We're Looking For
The below is a starting point. We always make space for exceptional people, so if you don't fit this role exactly, tell us where you would.
You've engineered industrial water treatment or cooling water chemistry.

You understand materials compatibility across metals, plastics, and coolants.
You design monitoring that catches drift before damage.
Bonus: Direct liquid cooling coolant chemistry. Cooling towers at scale. Discharge permitting. CWT credential.

Role Scope
Own technical execution of network deployment: the standards, tooling, and hardest problems across every site turn-up.
Set the technical playbook: ZTP flows, validation suites, and acceptance criteria per fabric.
Take the escalations nobody else can close: the link that won't train, the fabric that won't converge.
Automate the turn-up: anything done twice by hand becomes tooling.

The Security Team
Examples of key problems the team is working on
You're securing the frontier of AI. The model weights training on our infrastructure are the most valuable and most targeted artifacts in technology, and we're standing up the compute to hold them faster than anyone ever has. A breach isn't a leak, it's the frontier walking out the door.
Build the entire security program from scratch. Most leaders inherit someone else's system and spend a career patching it. Here you own it end to end, bare metal to boardroom, as we scale across continents.
Your threat surface is measured in gigawatts. The customers running on our infrastructure are building the most consequential technology in human history, and being responsible for the physical and logical security of that work makes everything else feel small.
Role Scope
Own security for the cloud and bare-metal control planes customers' training runs depend on: hardening, identity, and workload isolation.
Build guardrails as code: policies, scanning, and paved roads that make the secure path the fast path for engineers.
Engineer detection and response across cloud infrastructure, from API abuse to compromised credentials to tenant escape.
Secure the multi-tenant boundary where customer workloads, some of the most targeted in AI, share infrastructure.
What We're Looking For
The below is a starting point. We always make space for exceptional people, so if you don't fit this role exactly, tell us where you would.
You've secured production cloud or bare-metal infrastructure hands-on, not just audited it.
You've shipped security tooling engineers actually adopted.
You've found and fixed real isolation or privilege-escalation issues.
You write production-quality code and treat policies as software.
You've run incident response on infrastructure you helped build.
Bonus: Kubernetes and container security. Hardware root of trust and measured boot. eBPF-based detection. GPU and HPC environments.
We are committed to pay equity and transparency.

Role Scope
Own the paint line and surface treatment: pretreatment, coating application, and cure at production rate.
Engineer the process: chemistry, film builds, and transfer efficiency dialed against spec and cost.
Commission the line and qualify coatings with suppliers to the performance standard the product needs.
Hold quality and environmental compliance together: appearance, adhesion, salt spray, and permits.
What We're Looking For
The below is a starting point. We always make space for exceptional people, so if you don't fit this role exactly, tell us where you would.
You've engineered industrial paint or coating operations, liquid or powder, at scale.
You've solved adhesion, contamination, or cure problems to root cause.
You know pretreatment chemistry and manage it with your supplier, not by faith.
You've run a line under air permit constraints and kept it compliant.
You test to standards and act on the results.
Bonus: Powder coating at heavy scale. E-coat exposure. Paint robot programming. Steel substrate coatings.

The Accounting Team
Examples of key problems the team is working on
Build the financial infrastructure from the ground up (NetSuite, Zip, Shareworks, Pigment).
Stand up a lean finance org for the fastest-growing data center hyperscaler.
Own the full stack from vendor invoice to cap table.
Role Scope
Own technical accounting positions across revenue recognition, leases, project finance, and equity, writing the memos that document how the company accounts for first-of-a-kind data center transactions.
Run the financial reporting close and produce accurate financial statements on a fast cycle as the company scales toward audit and public-company readiness.
Stand up technical accounting policies and controls from the ground up on a lean finance stack (NetSuite, Zip, Shareworks, Pigment).
Manage the external audit relationship, preparing the support and positions that let auditors sign off without surprises.
Partner with strategic finance, legal, and commercial teams to structure and account for complex, high-value transactions correctly the first time.
What We're Looking For
The below is a starting point. We always make space for exceptional people, so if you don't fit this role exactly, tell us where you would.
You've written technical accounting memos on complex areas such as revenue recognition, leases, business combinations, or equity, and they held up under audit scrutiny.
You've owned a financial reporting close and produced GAAP financial statements on a demanding timeline.
You've built accounting policies, processes, or controls from scratch rather than maintaining a mature function.
You've managed external auditors through a full audit and resolved contentious positions without the timeline blowing up.
You've worked through the accounting for genuinely novel or complex transactions where the precedent was thin.
You explain technical accounting conclusions clearly enough that non-accountants can act on them.
Bonus: CPA. Big Four technical accounting or national-office background. Capital-intensive industry experience (data centers, energy, real estate, infrastructure). NetSuite or comparable ERP implementation. Pre-IPO or audit-readiness experience.
We are committed to pay equity and transparency.

Design and defend the network security architecture across data centers, corp, and cloud: segmentation, firewalls, and east-west controls at gigawatt scale.
Build network detection: telemetry, flow analysis, and alerting across training fabrics, OT networks, and the WAN.
Harden the OT and BMS side, where the network touches physical plant, against threats most security teams never see.
Automate network security controls so new sites inherit the architecture on day one.
What We're Looking For
The below is a starting point. We always make space for exceptional people, so if you don't fit this role exactly, tell us where you would.

You've deployed and tuned NDR or flow-based detection that found real intrusions.
You work infrastructure-as-code: your firewall rules live in a repo, not a GUI.
You've partnered with network engineering without becoming the department of no.

You track budget and schedule closely enough to flag a slip while there's still time to fix it.
You've handled permitting, inspections, and AHJ sign-offs and know how to keep them off the critical path.
You keep RFIs, submittals, and punch lists organized so nothing falls through the cracks on a busy project.
You close projects cleanly, with documentation done and no loose ends handed to the next team.
Bonus: Data center, mission-critical, or manufacturing environments. Multi-site or multi-state buildouts. Program controls or PMO tooling (P6, Procore). Office and lab TI at speed.
We are committed to pay equity and transparency.
