Controls Engineer, Robotics
About Fluidstack
We exist to make humanity more free. For most of human history, you farmed or you starved. Technology gave people more time for the things they wanted to do, instead of things they had to do. Powerful AI will be the biggest lever for human choice we've ever built - but only if models are aligned with what humanity actually wants. There are groups building AI who don't share these goals. Whoever deploys frontier compute infrastructure fastest will decide whether AI expands human freedom or shrinks it.
We're singularly focused on delivering 10 to 100s of GWs of compute faster than anyone else, rethinking every layer of the stack. We acquire power, design and build data centers, and operate them - with teams spanning hardware and software. Speed and scale are our key differentiators. Come be a part of building civilization-scale infrastructure for AI.
We hire people who care deeply about this problem space. If that is you, please apply!
How We Operate
Extreme ownership. Full autonomy. Own things end to end often taking on scope outside your core role without being asked to get things done.
Velocity. We drive everything forward as fast as possible.
First principles. Challenge every assumption. Zero analogy thinking, no egos, the best idea wins.
Love of the game. The frontier of AI is the most interesting problem of our time. We put in long hours at high intensity to push the frontier forward.
Role Scope
Engineer controls for robotics in the data center: motion, safety, and integration with facility systems.
Own the robot control stack integration: fleet management, task dispatch, and telemetry into the platform.
Design the safety architecture: zones, interlocks, and functional safety for robots working among people and plant.
Commission robotic systems at sites and hold them to availability targets.
What We're Looking For
The below is a starting point. We always make space for exceptional people, so if you don't fit this role exactly, tell us where you would.
You've engineered controls for robotic or automated systems in production.
You've implemented functional safety around robots: risk assessments and safety PLCs.
You've integrated robot fleets with external systems.
You commission on-site and debug across mechanical, electrical, and software.
You hold availability numbers, not demos.
Bonus: ROS or fleet managers. AMR platforms. Robot safety standards (ISO 10218, ISO 3691-4). Data center environments.
We are committed to pay equity and transparency.

Run the punch and turnover process so operations gets space that actually works.
Manage the paperwork spine: RFIs, submittals, and change orders logged, answered, and closed.
What We're Looking For
The below is a starting point. We always make space for exceptional people, so if you don't fit this role exactly, tell us where you would.
You've coordinated commercial or industrial construction from the owner or GC side.
You've managed TI work inside an operating facility without stopping production.
You keep RFI and submittal logs current enough to run the job from.
You walk the site daily and your punch lists close.
You escalate schedule threats with evidence and options.
Bonus: Manufacturing fit-outs. Procore or equivalent. Permitting basics. MEP coordination.
We are committed to pay equity and transparency.

Build the financial infrastructure from the ground up (NetSuite, Zip, Shareworks, Pigment).
Stand up a lean finance org for the fastest-growing data center hyperscaler.
Own the full stack from vendor invoice to cap table.
Role Scope
Own indirect tax globally: VAT, GST, and sales and use tax across a multi-entity, multi-country footprint.
Build compliance from the ground up: registrations, filings, and reclaim processes in every jurisdiction we build in.
Advise on transaction structuring, equipment imports, cross-border services, and intercompany flows before the invoice exists.
Automate determination and filing so compliance scales with entities, not headcount.
What We're Looking For
The below is a starting point. We always make space for exceptional people, so if you don't fit this role exactly, tell us where you would.
You've owned VAT or indirect tax for a multinational, in-house or in advisory.
You've stood up registrations and filings in new countries under deadline.
You've recovered material VAT through reclaim processes you built.
You give business teams the answer before the transaction, not the correction after.
You work the systems: tax engines, ERP tax codes, and e-invoicing mandates.
Bonus: US sales and use tax on data center equipment. EU and UK VAT depth. Avalara or Vertex. Customs interplay.
We are committed to pay equity and transparency.

Build and maintain the site-level forecasts: capex curves, opex ramps, and cash timing per building.
Own the monthly forecast cycle: inputs gathered, variances explained, and the bridge to the last version clean.
Model scenarios fast when a deal, delay, or design change moves the numbers.
Automate the pipeline from source systems so the forecast updates in hours, not weeks.
What We're Looking For
The below is a starting point. We always make space for exceptional people, so if you don't fit this role exactly, tell us where you would.
You've built capex and opex forecasts for large projects or infrastructure portfolios.
Your variance analysis finds causes, not just differences.
You're expert in Excel and dangerous in SQL.
You turn a vague what-if into a modeled answer same-day.
Your models are auditable: sources cited, assumptions labeled.
Bonus: Construction draw schedules. Pigment or Anaplan. Power cost modeling. Accounting fluency.

Set the automation architecture, PLCs, safety systems, and integration standards, before the equipment is bought.
Lead integrator selection and hold them to acceptance criteria you write.
Commission cells to rate and keep them there: OEE owned at the system level.

You're hands-on with PLCs, HMIs, and industrial networks when it matters.
You design safety in from the start: risk assessments, guarding, and functional safety.
You debug at 2am when the launch needs it and fix the root cause after.
Bonus: Rockwell or Siemens platforms. Robot programming (Fanuc, ABB, KUKA). Weld or steel automation. Greenfield launches.

Engineer demand management controls: the logic that flexes gigawatts of load against grid signals and price.
Build control strategies coordinating IT load, cooling, and behind-the-meter generation without touching an SLA.
Integrate with markets and utilities: signals in, verified response out, settlement-grade data behind it.
Prove strategies in simulation, then deploy them across the fleet.

Build support in the communities where we build: town halls, briefings, and the relationships that keep projects moving.
Run the response when a project draws attention, media, hearings, and opposition, with a plan instead of a scramble.
Partner with development, legal, and government relations so the external story matches the project reality.

The Security Team
Examples of key problems the team is working on
You're securing the frontier of AI. The model weights training on our infrastructure are the most valuable and most targeted artifacts in technology, and we're standing up the compute to hold them faster than anyone ever has. A breach isn't a leak, it's the frontier walking out the door.
Build the entire security program from scratch. Most leaders inherit someone else's system and spend a career patching it. Here you own it end to end, bare metal to boardroom, as we scale across continents.
Your threat surface is measured in gigawatts. The customers running on our infrastructure are building the most consequential technology in human history, and being responsible for the physical and logical security of that work makes everything else feel small.
Role Scope
Design and defend the network security architecture across data centers, corp, and cloud: segmentation, firewalls, and east-west controls at gigawatt scale.
Build network detection: telemetry, flow analysis, and alerting across training fabrics, OT networks, and the WAN.
Harden the OT and BMS side, where the network touches physical plant, against threats most security teams never see.
Automate network security controls so new sites inherit the architecture on day one.
What We're Looking For
The below is a starting point. We always make space for exceptional people, so if you don't fit this role exactly, tell us where you would.
You've secured production networks at scale, and you read a packet capture as comfortably as a dashboard.
You've designed segmentation for environments that mix IT, OT, and high-value compute.
You've deployed and tuned NDR or flow-based detection that found real intrusions.
You work infrastructure-as-code: your firewall rules live in a repo, not a GUI.
You've partnered with network engineering without becoming the department of no.
Bonus: OT and ICS security. Data center or cloud provider environments. BGP and routing security. Zeek or Suricata.
We are committed to pay equity and transparency.
