We operate in a collaborative environment with a flat organizational structure and expect a high degree of integrity, autonomy and creativity from all members of the team.
About the Role
As a Manufacturing Technician, you're a member of a production crew building Lightship's all-electric RVs from the ground up. Lightship manufacturing runs low-volume, new-product-introduction builds - work instructions aren't always mature, and part of the job is building correctly and safely even when the paperwork hasn't caught up yet.
You'll start by executing detailed instructions under close guidance, and grow into handling ambiguity, working across multiple stations, and making judgment calls engineering and quality can trust. A combination of hard work, good judgment, and a good attitude will be essential to your success.
Day shift starts at 7:00 a.m. and finishes at 3:30 p.m. each day (Monday–Friday), with two 15-minute breaks and a half-hour lunch. This role is eligible for overtime pay, and occasional extra hours may be required.
There are multiple openings available, and we'll continue hiring on a rolling basis as we grow our team in 2026.
Beyond Your Station
At this stage of the company, no job description can capture everything that comes up on a given day, and "that's not my job description" isn't how this team operates. You may be asked to step outside your assigned station to help Service, support Test on a vehicle commissioning or shakedown, assist the field team on-site, or lend a hand on a customer's vehicle. When the need arises you're expected to bring the same ownership and care to that work as you do at your home station.
- Follow all 5S standards and job safety practices, including on-the-job safety, PPE, emergency procedures, and equipment-specific protocols
- Execute released work instructions accurately; ask before deviating, and flag gaps, errors, or missing steps in the instructions when you find them
- Inspect parts and prior work against quality standards and customer specifications; stop and escalate when something looks wrong
- Operate and maintain production equipment to meet plant production goals; assist with preventative maintenance on assigned equipment
- As your skills grow, take on work at additional stations, handle in-station ambiguity safely (a part or tool variation, a step that doesn't quite match the drawing), and help close the gap when a work instruction doesn't match reality
- Occasionally support Service, Test, the field team, or customer vehicle needs when asked
- Build positive working relationships across your team through clear communication, collaboration, and a high degree of integrity
- Partner with engineering and quality to strengthen work instructions and processes, and provide insight on improvement opportunities
- This position involves the operation of hoisting and other machinery. In accordance with Colorado and federal child labor laws, employees in this role must be 18 years of age or older at the time of hire.
- High school diploma or equivalent education
- 1+ year of experience in a mechanical, electrical, or related trade with demonstrated basic troubleshooting skills
- Basic computer skills and literacy
- Proficiency with hand and power tools
- Comfortable following detailed instructions today, with a willingness to grow into working from incomplete ones as your skills develop
- Able to lift 25 lbs and be on your feet for a full shift, with regular bending, reaching, and standing
- Prior work experience in a startup hardware manufacturing/production environment
- 3+ years in any of the following disciplines: Automotive, Fabrication, Composites, HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing or other relevant trades that align with EV/RV manufacturing
- Hot/Cold working conditions
- Loud/Noisy environment
- Standing and walking for prolonged periods of time
- Climbing (stairs, and other equipment as necessary)
- The preceding position description has been designed to indicate the general nature and essential duties and responsibilities of work performed by employees within this position. It may not contain a comprehensive list of all duties, responsibilities, and qualifications required of employees in this position.
- Actual pay rate will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
- Lightship compensation consists of the stated pay range plus equity, which gives you a stake in the company.
Employee Benefits & Philosophy - Applies to Full Time Employees only
- Healthcare, Dental, Vision
- 401k
- Flexible Paid Time Off - that we actually want you to use!
- 13 Company Holidays: 8 throughout the year + the company observes a week of scheduled downtime during the end of the year, allowing all employees to enjoy a break
- 12 weeks paid parental leave
- Yearly LightTrip stipend for an RV trip &/or professional development opportunities
Lightship offers all of its full time employees and their dependents full benefits including health, dental and vision insurance. We are on a mission to create a more healthful all-electric experience for a pastime that millions of families enjoy and believe strongly that our team should not have to worry about quality healthcare for themselves or their loved ones along the way.
