Lead Product Designer, Growth (Upper Funnel)
MURAL ·
Pay
$65k–245k
Setting
Remote
ABOUT THE TEAM
At Mural, we’re reimagining how teams think and create together. The Design and Research team brings clarity to complexity, shaping experiences that help people collaborate, ideate, and solve problems visually. We partner deeply with engineering, product, and research to invent the next generation of collaborative work combining craft, systems thinking, and bold exploration.
YOUR MISSION
As a Lead Product Designer focused on Growth, you’ll define how Mural earns user trust at the moments that matter most when someone first encounters the product's value, decides to go deeper, or chooses to stay.
This is end to end growth journey ownership. It's about designing the logic of how Mural grows: the moments where clarity converts, where friction is a design failure, and where the line between growth and product quality either holds or breaks. You'll work across discovery, activation, and pricing surfaces, onboarding paths, upgrade flows, lifecycle touchpoints, and in-product nudges. Most importantly, you'll orchestrate how those surfaces work together and set the standard for how growth design is practiced at Mural.
You'll succeed if you can bring full journey thinking, rigor and craft to a domain that often defaults to shortcuts and if you can help a cross-functional team understand what good growth design actually looks like.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Player Responsibilities (Individual Contributor Work):
- Define high-quality, user-centered discovery, activation, and monetization experiences across problem to success flows, upgrade flows, pricing surfaces, and lifecycle touchpoints — setting patterns that scale across the platform.
- Work from concept to production, delivering thoughtful UX, polished visual design, and vibe coded prototypes that help the organization understand direction, risk, and value.
- Use behavioral data as a primary design input: interpret funnel metrics, experiment results, and user signals to inform design decisions, not just validate them.
- Design and lead experiments across acquisition, activation, and expansion funnels — from hypothesis formation through read-out, in close partnership with product and data science.
- Establish reusable growth patterns in Mural's design system that balance clarity, persuasion, and long-term user trust.
- Partner with engineers to ensure accurate, high-quality implementation of flows and components.
Coaching Responsibilities (Practice Leadership):
- Directly manage one to three designers on the growth surface: run regular 1:1s, set goals, give performance feedback, and support their career growth.
- Balance IC output with people leadership — this is a hands-on management role, not a full-time management track. Expect the majority of your time to remain in design work.
- Model how to hold craft and commercial intent simultaneously — showing peers what it looks like to design for conversion without compromising user trust.
- Mentor designers working on growth-adjacent surfaces, developing their instincts around hierarchy, motivation, friction, and funnel thinking.
- Contribute to how the team understands growth design as a discipline: a principled approach to earning user commitment.
- Champion the relationship between growth quality and product quality, helping leadership understand when they align and when they're in tension.
- Partner with research, data science, and product to elevate experimentation quality across the organization.
Hybrid Responsibilities (Both Player & Coach):
- Reframe problems at the funnel level helping teams understand where value is earned or lost and why.
- Lead workshops or working sessions that bring clarity to pricing, packaging, onboarding, and upgrade moment opportunities.
- Collaborate with product, research, and data science to define success metrics, shape experiment hypotheses, and interpret outcomes.
- Advocate for user trust as a growth asset, not an obstacle to conversion — and model how design holds that line.
Design & Research Team Contribution:
- Share growth approaches for designing discovery, onboarding, and identity flows with peers through critique and collaboration.
- Partner with research, data, and product teams to elevate experimentation quality and improve how Mural understands user value signals.
- Contribute to a culture of design excellence, especially in areas where growth and monetization intersect with core product experiences.WHAT YOU'LL BRING
- 5+ years of product design experience working on complex applications, ideally in PLG, SaaS, or self-serve products.
- Comfort working in fast-moving, experiment-driven environments with frequent iteration and learning.
- Experience designing in-product discovery, onboarding, sign-up, or activation flows.
- Exceptional craft: visual clarity, spacing, motion, and interaction polish are second nature.
- Strong interaction design skills and a careful approach to visual polish, hierarchy, motion, and clarity.
- Ability to design within systems, understanding how decisions cascade across surfaces and journeys.
- Experience partnering with product and data teams to interpret behavioral insights, experiment results, or funnel metrics.
- Curiosity and proactive problem solving: you explore edge cases, anticipate constraints, and think beyond the immediate brief.
- Empathy for first-time users and sensitivity to trust, motivation, and cognitive load.
- Strong communication skills that help cross-functional partners make smart, user-centered decisions.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
- 8+ years of product design experience, ideally in SaaS, productivity tools, collaboration software, or product-led growth environments.
- A track record of leading growth, monetization, or conversion-focused design work — not just contributing to it.
- Deep fluency in funnel thinking: you understand acquisition, activation, retention, and expansion as a connected system, not isolated moments.
- Strong data instincts: you can read behavioral data, interpret experiment results, and use both to sharpen design decisions.
- Exceptional craft: visual clarity, spacing, motion, and interaction polish are second nature.
- Systems thinking: you understand how decisions cascade across surfaces, journeys, and user relationships over time.
- Experience mentoring or leading other designers, even informally — you know how to raise the quality of work around you.
- Strong communication skills that help cross-functional partners make smart, user-centered decisions.
- Comfort operating in spaces where patterns don’t yet exist and playbooks need to be written.
ALSO GREAT IF YOU BRING
- Experience with pricing architecture, packaging strategy, or monetization model design.
- Deep experience mapping and designing activation journeys — the full arc from first action to genuine value realization.
- Hands-on experience using AI-assisted tools and vibe coding to prototype growth flows, simulate behavioral nudges, and stress-test funnel logic in motion — treating code as a design material for rapid exploration.
- Background in organic acquisition or activation funnels at scale.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted experiences or contextual intelligence in growth flows.
- Experience working with data science teams on experimentation frameworks or causal inference.
- History of shaping 0→1 growth systems or redesigning broken acquisition or retention loops.
WHY YOU’LL LOVE MURAL
You’ll help shape how millions of people discover value in Mural, understand what the product can do for them, and make confident choices about their journey. You’ll design experiences that balance business goals with user trust, clarity, and delight. You’ll collaborate with thoughtful partners who care about evidence, craft, and outcomes.
At Mural, we “drink our own champagne” and use our product daily to collaborate, ideate, and prototype together. This role is Canada Remote. Your design work will shape how millions of people around the world collaborate.
Compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

ABOUT THE TEAM
The AI Foundations Team at Mural is pioneering how generative AI transforms visual collaboration and decision-making. We’re a remote-first group of engineers, designers, and product thinkers focused on helping teams work together more effectively. Our goal isn’t to replace human creativity. It’s to amplify it, building AI that enhances how people align, communicate, and make decisions visually.
YOUR MISSION
You will design and build the core AI systems and platforms that enable Mural’s next wave of agentic, AI-driven collaboration experiences.
Rather than building isolated AI features, you’ll work on the core backend systems that power Mural’s agent platform, including agent orchestration, durable execution, contextual memory, tool integration, observability, and evaluation. Your work will enable intelligent agents to reason over product context, act on behalf of users, and operate reliably and safely at scale. Our stack at Mural includes Azure OpenAI, React, Node, MongoDB.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Build the core backend systems that power Mural’s agent platform, including orchestration, durable execution, tool execution, memory, observability, and evaluation infrastructure
- Design scalable services and APIs that allow AI agents to retrieve context, coordinate multi-step workflows, interact with Mural data, and act reliably on behalf of users
- Develop the agent memory layer, including systems for conversation context, product context, retrieval, summarization, compaction, and long-term context management
- Create infrastructure to monitor, debug, and improve agent behavior through traces, metrics, feedback loops, and offline evaluation
- Translate complex, open-ended product needs into clear backend architectures, service boundaries, data models, and implementation plans that align technical capabilities with user value
- Help define the technical direction for agentic AI at Mural, contributing to long-term architecture and strategy
- Champion engineering excellence, mentoring others and establishing best practices for building reliable AI systems
- Contribute to team growth through hiring, process improvements, and fostering a culture of curiosity, collaboration, and inclusivity

- 7+ years of software engineering experience, with strong expertise designing, building, and operating reliable production systems, scalable services and APIs, and well-defined system architectures
- Experience designing and operating distributed systems for complex workflows, including orchestration, asynchronous processing, job execution, retries, event-driven architectures, long-running processes, and failure recovery
- Familiarity with AI, LLM, or agentic systems, including concepts such as tool use, context retrieval, evaluation, or model orchestration
- Strong focus on production quality, including observability, reliability, testing, security, maintainability, and incident response
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to produce clear technical documentation and collaborate cross-functionally
- Experience working full stack or collaborating closely on product-facing frontend experiences
- Deeper AI/ML experience, especially with LLM evaluation, experimentation, embeddings, retrieval systems
- Experience with knowledge graphs, graph-based data modeling, entity resolution, or relationship-aware retrieval systems

Senior Product Manager, Growth & Engagement
MURAL · United States

$177k–221k

ABOUT THE TEAM
At Mural, we're changing how teams collaborate, think, and make decisions together. The Growth & Engagement team owns the experiences that turn a single-player tool into a multiplayer habit: the loops that bring people back, help them find their work, and pull their colleagues into a mural. Mural's self-serve growth runs through these experiences, and engagement and retention are central to how the business grows.
YOUR MISSION
As Senior Product Manager, Growth & Engagement, you will own the end-to-end self-serve experience, from a user's first touch through activation, return usage, and conversion to paid. You will treat the full funnel as one system: acquisition, activation, engagement, retention, sharing, and monetization. You will run a high-tempo experimentation practice, partner deeply across Product, Engineering, Design, Data, Marketing, and Sales, and make the calls that turn occasional users into teams that rely on Mural every week. This is a role for someone who wants to own real growth outcomes, not just ship features.
You will own the surfaces that decide whether Mural's self-serve engine grows. Engagement and retention here move the business directly, and you will own the full loop across growth and engagement rather than a narrow slice of it. You’ll have a rare end-to-end view of the funnel, from acquisition through in-product engagement. You will work alongside thoughtful product, design, and engineering partners who care about craft and impact.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Own product strategy, roadmap, and execution for the self-serve growth and engagement experience, from first touch through activation and return usage
- Build and optimize the invite, sharing, and join experience
- Drive activation and retention by improving the moments that bring people back: home and dashboard, notifications, search, rooms and folders, comments, and more
- Partner closely with Marketing to connect acquisition and re-engagement with in-product activation across the full funnel
- Run a continuous experimentation practice and define the metrics and instrumentation that prove impact
- Own free-to-paid conversion and the pricing and packaging levers that grow self-serve revenue
- Collaborate with Sales on the transition from self-serve to sales-assisted growth
- Bring an AI-native point of view, using AI tools in your own workflow and shaping how AI improves onboarding, engagement, and the collaboration experience
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
- 5+ years of product management experience, including 2+ focused on growth, engagement, activation, or product-led growth
- A track record of measurable outcomes across the funnel (activation, retention, free-to-paid conversion), not just feature delivery
- Fluency in experimentation: forming hypotheses, designing A/B tests, reading results with rigor, and iterating quickly
- Strong data skills, comfortable with SQL and product analytics tools, able to hold your own with data and engineering partners
- A working understanding of PLG mechanics: onboarding, viral and invite loops, lifecycle, and the levers that move self-serve revenue
- Comfort using AI tools in your daily workflow, with a real point of view on what AI-native growth and collaboration look like
- Excellent communication across Product, Engineering, Design, Data, Marketing, and Sales, including with executive stakeholders
- A bias toward execution in an ambiguous, fast-moving environment, with the judgment to balance conversion gains against long-term retention, trust, and product quality
- Experience with collaboration, productivity, or canvas and whiteboarding products
- Experience owning monetization, pricing, or packaging in a self-serve model
- Experience partnering with or inside growth marketing to drive acquisition and re-engagement
- Experience bridging product-led growth to a sales-assisted or enterprise motion
EQUAL OPPORTUNITY
We will ensure that individuals with disabilities are provided reasonable accommodation to participate in the job application or interview process, to perform essential job functions, and to receive other benefits and privileges of employment. Please contact us to request accommodation.

MURAL · United States

$100k–230k
Setting

ABOUT THE TEAM
Mural’s Admin & Security portfolio owns the experiences that let organizations adopt, govern, and measure the value of Mural at enterprise scale. The portfolio spans three domains: Admin & Identity Management, Enterprise Security, & Customer Insights. This role leads Customer Insights and supercharges it into a surface that turns Mural’s product data into the narratives that drive renewals, fund expansion, and prove the ROI of collaboration to Admins and buyers.
YOUR MISSION
Own the Customer Insights product area end-to-end. Build the user facing experiences and the data foundation to turn raw data into shared, clear, and actionable narratives. Define Mural’s POV on what AI-native insights look like as the category shifts from static dashboards to proactive, conversational, agentic interfaces.
You’ll work across three layers in parallel:
- The canonical usage data layer: This is the foundation that powers Company Insights today and needs to be deliberately built and enriched so other surfaces such as engagement, growth, AI, can consume it tomorrow.
- The customer-facing surface: This is how the data is presented in-product, whether it’s on an insights page, a dashboard, scheduled and ad hoc reporting, audit logs, or APIs that can be consumed by Admins, end users, execs, and Mural teams.
- The AI-native expansion: How Mural incorporates natural language queries, agentic workflows, and proactive analytics to evolve and extend the insights surface.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Own product strategy, roadmap, and execution for Customer Insights from data model through customer-facing experience
- Define the usage data layer in partnership with Engineering and Data including the metrics that anchor renewal and expansion narratives
- Evolve customer-accessible audit logs to be enterprise ready
- Define Mural's POV on AI-native insights and ship the first set of AI-powered capabilities on this surface
- Partner with Sales and Customer Success to translate insights into the narratives that win renewals and unlock expansion
- Engage directly with enterprise Admins, IT, and Security stakeholders to validate priorities and stress-test the roadmap
- Co-own the seams with Admin & IAM and Enterprise Security PMs so the insights surface composes cleanly with permissions, access controls, and compliance posture
- Translate ambiguous business questions into clear product surfaces
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
- 4+ years of product management experience, with at least 2 building analytics, reporting, or data products for a business or admin audience
- Strong data fluency from shaping data models, instrumentation strategy, and can hold your own with engineers on freshness, granularity, aggregation, and pipeline tradeoffs
- AI product sense from using AI tools regularly, and can hold a real point of view on what AI-native data products look like
- A track record of turning ambiguous business questions into clear product surfaces
- Experience partnering with Sales and Customer Success on renewal and expansion narratives
- Excellent communication across data, design, engineering, and revenue-facing stakeholders
BONUS
- Experience with enterprise admin or governance products (IAM, security, compliance, audit)
- Background in BI, analytics platforms, or data products
- Experience designing customer-facing APIs for analytics and reporting
WHY YOU'LL LOVE MURAL
Customer Insights sits at the intersection of three valuable surfaces - and the surface you’ll own directly drives the conversations that grow Mural’s largest accounts. Not only that, but you will also set the strategic ambition for the analytics surface itself - defining where insights extends across Mural as a product over time.
EQUAL OPPORTUNITY
We will ensure that individuals with disabilities are provided reasonable accommodation to participate in the job application or interview process, to perform essential job functions, and to receive other benefits and privileges of employment. Please contact us to request accommodation.
