Engineering Manager - Integrations
Location: Manchester
Type: Full Time
Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the country in which the role is being hired. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa at this time.
Mark43 is a public safety technology company trusted by over 200 police forces worldwide. We build AWS cloud-native software that police forces and emergency services rely on in their most critical moments, from managing custody records to dispatching officers in the field.
We're part of a 400-person global company, but the UK team operates with startup energy: small enough that your work is visible, big enough that you're backed by serious investment.
We're hiring an Engineering Manager to provide hands-on technical leadership for the team building integrations that make our platform work seamlessly with the systems public safety agencies depend on.
What You'll Do
We are seeking an Engineering Manager - Integrations who will serve as the technical leader for the engineers responsible for integrations between Mark43's core platform and mission-critical third-party systems. You'll combine people leadership with managing delivery timelines of business-critical integrations. Shaping architecture, leading complex implementation work, reviewing designs and code, and helping the team solve difficult distributed-systems problems. You'll partner closely with Product, Engineering, and other technical teams to turn customer and operational needs into reliable APIs, data pipelines, and messaging layers. This is a hybrid role requiring at least three days per week in our Manchester office to support strong team collaboration.
Coordination and collaboration with the US-based counterpart to ensure alignment with technology and business goals.
Making and guiding architecture decisions across REST APIs, message queues, data pipelines, webhooks, and event-driven workflows.
Lead the design and delivery of complex, high-impact integrations from discovery through production, breaking ambiguous problems into clear technical approaches and executable plans.
Stay hands-on through design reviews, code reviews, prototyping, debugging, and targeted implementation work, especially on the team's most complex or high-risk problems.
Drive technical excellence in reliability, scalability, security, performance, error handling, testing, observability, and operational readiness for mission-critical distributed systems.
Partner closely with Product, Engineering, customers, and partner technical teams to define API contracts, integration patterns, technical trade-offs, and sequencing for roadmap work.
Mentor engineers through technical coaching, pairing, feedback, and thoughtful delegation, helping them grow their judgement and take on increasingly complex ownership.
Manage and support the engineers on the team through regular 1:1s, clear expectations, feedback, career development, and a healthy, inclusive team environment.
What You'll Need
6+ years of professional software engineering experience, with significant experience designing and operating backend services, distributed systems, and system integrations.
Demonstrated technical leadership on complex engineering projects, including architecture, design reviews, implementation strategy, and mentoring other engineers.
Strong hands-on experience with APIs, webhooks, asynchronous messaging, data pipelines, and technologies relevant to our stack such as Java, TypeScript/JavaScript, RESTful services, SQL/MySQL, and cloud-native systems.
Experience leading engineers through a mix of technical direction, coaching, project leadership, and people management, with the judgement to know when to guide, delegate, or step in directly.
Nice to Have
Prior experience in public safety, government software, or regulated domains.
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, observability tooling, and cloud-native practices.
What We Offer
28 days holiday plus UK bank holidays
Private medical, dental, and vision insurance through AXA Health and BUPA, fully paid for you and your dependents
18 weeks paid parental leave for primary caregivers plus a ramp-back programme
Income protection (75% of salary) and death in service cover (4x salary), fully paid
Pension through Nest with 3% employer contribution
Gym reimbursement for you and your partner
Equipment allowance to set up your home office
AI tooling including Claude Code Enterprise licences
Spring Health membership with therapy sessions and mental wellness tools, fully covered
Company performance-based bonus
Paid sabbatical of one month at your five-year anniversary
Biannual hackathons, learning budget, and a team that genuinely invests in your growth
What We Value
Humility. You know the best ideas win, no matter where they come from. You ask questions before making assumptions and you're as happy being wrong as being right, because either way, the team gets to a better answer.
Inclusivity. You respect expertise in all its forms and actively seek out perspectives different from your own. You make space for others and assume good intent.
Excellence. You care deeply about technical quality in the systems you build, the designs you review, and the decisions you make. You set a high bar, lead by example, and help engineers develop the judgement to meet it independently.
Diligence. You take ownership, mind the details, and understand that the software this team builds is used in moments that genuinely matter. You stay close to the technical details, surface risks early, and make sure the team delivers responsibly without cutting corners.
Location
This role is based at our Central Manchester office and follows a hybrid work model.
Applicants must be authorised to work in the UK. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa at this time.

AWS Cloud Security Operations Engineer
Location: Manchester
Type: Full Time
Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the country in which the role is being hired. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa at this time.
Mark43's mission is to empower communities and their governments with new technologies that improve the safety and quality of life for all. We build powerful, scalable, and elegant software that sets a new standard for the tools upon which first responders rely. Our users are diverse, and we are committed to embracing diversity of thought and experience within our team.
We are looking for a AWS Cloud Security Operations Engineer to join our team in Manchester. You will own vulnerability and threat management for an environment where the stakes are real — the software you help protect supports law enforcement and emergency services across the US and UK. This is a hands-on, execution-focused role: you will run a serious security program, respond to real incidents, and be the on-the-ground security presence in our Manchester office, working closely with a wider Cybersecurity team based in the US.
What You'll Do
If you were part of our team, here are some things you would have done last week:
Driven our vulnerability management program end to end: running scans across cloud infrastructure, networks, and applications, prioritizing findings by risk, and tracking remediation through to closure.
Researched emerging threats relevant to our environment, turning threat intelligence into clear, actionable guidance on what to patch, watch, or harden next.
Led the response to a security alert: triaging it, containing the issue, coordinating with the wider Cybersecurity team, and writing up the post-incident review so we are stronger next time.
Reviewed cloud security configurations across our AWS environment, identifying misconfigurations and hardening controls in line with security best practices.
Supported colleagues in the Manchester office with day-to-day IT needs — account access, hardware, new starter setup — as the on-site technical presence.
Taken your turn on the on-call rota, ready to respond when a critical security incident does not keep office hours.
What You'll Need
We are looking for a cybersecurity professional with a minimum of 5 years of experience, with a strong focus on vulnerability management, threat research, and cloud security. You have the judgement that comes from time in the field: you know which vulnerabilities to escalate, how to run an incident calmly under pressure, and when to ask for help. Experience with cloud environments — particularly AWS — and familiarity with vulnerability scanners, endpoint protection, and SIEM tooling are important. An awareness of UK data protection requirements and frameworks such as Cyber Essentials or ISO 27001 is a plus. Solid general IT support skills across Windows environments and networking matter too, since you will be the on-site technical resource in Manchester. You should be comfortable on an on-call rota and collaborating across time zones.
Security Clearance
Given the sensitive nature of the work we do and the law enforcement agencies we serve, the successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain NPPV3 and SC (Security Check) clearance. We will support you through the process, but please note that an offer is conditional upon successfully obtaining the required clearances. This typically requires a minimum of 5 years' recent UK residency — please raise eligibility questions with us during the process.
Who Thrives Here
Hands-on and execution-focused. You are more comfortable running a vulnerability program than writing a policy about one. You get things done.
Calm and decisive under pressure. When an incident hits, you hold steady, work the problem methodically, and make sensible calls with imperfect information.
Self-directed and dependable. As the senior security presence in the Manchester office, you take ownership without waiting to be told and follow through so colleagues can trust that things are handled.
A clear communicator. You can explain a security risk to a senior leader and help a colleague with an access issue in the same afternoon, adjusting how you communicate to whoever is in front of you.
Location & Logistics

Private medical, dental, and vision insurance through AXA Health and BUPA, fully paid for you and your dependents

Excellence. You care about quality in your code, your reviews, and how you communicate. You're not satisfied with "it works" when it could be better, and you encourage the same standard in those around you.
Diligence. You take ownership, mind the details, and understand that the software we build is used in moments that genuinely matter. You don't cut corners when people are depending on the outcome.

Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the country in which the role is being hired. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa at this time.
Mark43’s mission is to empower communities and their governments with new technologies that improve safety and quality of life for all. We build powerful, scalable, and elegant software that sets a new standard for the tools on which first responders rely. Our users are diverse, and we are committed to embracing diversity of thought and experience within our team.
We’re looking for a Data Migration Engineer (ETL Developer) to join our team. You’ll be at the heart of the customer transition experience, designing and executing complex data migrations that enable agencies to adopt Mark43’s systems with confidence. You’ll work across internal teams and with external partners to help deliver clean, meaningful, and high-quality data into Mark43 products.
This role is a great fit for someone who thrives on solving complex puzzles, is energized by working with public safety data, and enjoys balancing technical depth with customer-facing collaboration.
What you can expect to work on:
If you were part of our team last week, you would have:
Designed and executed a SQL-based ETL process to migrate decades of public safety data from a legacy system into the Mark43 platform
Collaborated with our data migration contractors, reviewing technical deliverables and providing guidance to help them succeed
Met with a customer’s records management team to understand their legacy data structure and translate it to the Mark43 schema
Dug into a uniquely formatted source database to uncover edge cases and ensure data fidelity
Worked alongside Mark43 deployment, engineering, and product teams to iterate on and improve our migration tooling and process
Balanced project timelines and quality standards while maintaining strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
What we expect from you:
We’re looking for a data migration engineer with 2+ years of experience in ETL development or SQL-based data engineering roles. You should have a comprehensive understanding of data migration processes and be comfortable owning projects from discovery through delivery. Your attention to detail and ability to navigate ambiguity will be key to success.
People who thrive on our team also tend to share the following traits:
Curious and resourceful. You enjoy figuring out how systems work and how to make them work better.
Clear and collaborative. You communicate technical details to non-technical stakeholders and work well across teams.
Committed to quality. You take pride in your work and sweat the details.
Qualifications:
2+ years of experience in a data migration, ETL development, or SQL development role
Deep understanding of SQL and relational database design
Demonstrated experience writing complex SQL scripts
Ability to analyze and translate legacy data models into new schemas
Experience managing contractor deliverables is a plus
Interest in public safety data and the impact of high-quality migrations on customer success
Prior work with public safety or government systems is a bonus
What you can expect from us:
Constant collaboration with numerous Mark43 teams, including Global Services, Engineering, and Product
Building mission critical and socially responsible software to enable first responders to better serve their communities
A team that respects and embraces your ideas and expertise
Coworkers that are motivated by pursuing excellence, rather than the prospect of personal gain
A workplace dedicated to supporting and bettering public safety and government agencies
We feel passionately about equal pay for equal work, and transparency in compensation is one vehicle to achieve that. Total compensation for this role is market competitive, including a target base annual salary range of $80,000 - $110,000, plus bonus opportunity, company stock options, and a full benefits package, including health insurance, paid time off, and a 401k with a company match. Please note that the higher end of this range will be reserved for candidates with appropriate experience who reside in high cost of labor locations.
Mark43 is approved to hire in Canada, the UK, and 36 U.S. states, including Alabama, Arizona, California (excluding San Francisco), Colorado, Connecticut, Washington D.C., Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Carolina, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Vermont, Washington, Wisconsin, and West Virginia. Performing post-implementation tasks, on-site with our clients, while working on a dynamic Customer Experience team.
Collaborating with the Customer Support, Account Management and Implementation teams to ensure a smooth post-implementation experience for our clients.
Working with our clients to learn and understand their current workflows.
Keep diligent records of all client meetings, tasks, and deliverables.
Seeking out and nurturing relationships with power-users and influencers within client sites.
Tracking user feedback to help influence the product roadmap and maintain communication with clients to resolve product issues.

What we expect from you:
5-10 years of account management, customer success, consulting, project management, and/or customer success experience.
Four-year university/college degree preferred.
Proven experience participating in a complex project from start to finish.
Knowing when to problem solve, either independently or by asking smart questions of your teammates.
Outstanding written and oral communication skills - you’ll often be writing materials that will go directly to our clients and will need to adjust internal jargon for external.
Detail oriented and the ability to document and track tasks.
Excitement about working with cross-functional teams in a matrix organization.
Ability to multitask and work on multiple projects concurrently.
Ability to travel up to 50-80% and comfort working directly from client sites.
Willingness to operate outside of assigned projects and pitch in wherever necessary.
Interest in working with a public sector client, such as law enforcement (LE), at the local, state, or federal level.
Comfortable working remotely.
Experience providing (while comfortable also receiving) feedback across levels of leadership and peers.
A change champion able to adapt to changing processes and needs while comfortable asking questions and creating dialog.
What you can expect from us:
Mentorship from experienced Customer Experience team members.
Constant collaboration with numerous Mark43 teams, including Customer Support, Implementation, Product, Engineering, and Executive leadership.
Building mission critical and socially responsible software to enable first responders to better serve their communities.
A team that respects and embraces your ideas and expertise.
Coworkers that are motivated by pursuing excellence, rather than the prospect of personal gain.
A workplace dedicated to supporting and bettering public safety and government agencies.
An effort to balance autonomy and guidance.
The chance to participate in development opportunities, including through services like Udemy, from day one.
