We're seeking a Chief Commercial Officer to own commercial strategy and revenue growth while helping define Matternet's overall business trajectory as autonomous delivery moves from early adoption to mainstream infrastructure.
This role extends beyond traditional sales leadership. The CCO will architect first-of-kind enterprise partnerships, structure complex multi-party deals, translate customer requirements into operationally viable networks, and help shape the company's financing narrative. It is a seat at the center of an industry inflection point, with accountability for converting a proven, certified platform into durable, scaled commercial networks. Key responsibilities include:
Strategic Partnership to the CEO
- Partner with the CEO on market prioritization, growth planning, and deal strategy.
- Contribute directly to Board discussions, fundraising narratives, and investor engagement.
- Assess how major partnerships affect deployment strategy, capital needs, unit economics, and positioning.
- Shape Matternet's external commercial narrative with investors, partners, and enterprise customers.
Commercial Strategy & Revenue Ownership
- Own commercial strategy and revenue across Matternet's target markets.
- Define target segments, customer prioritization, and market-entry sequencing.
- Establish repeatable go-to-market motions that convert pilots into multi-site and multi-city networks.
- Define pricing, packaging, and commercial frameworks aligned with the platform's economics.
- Operate a disciplined land-and-expand model in close partnership with Operations and customer leadership.
Deal Architecture & Strategic Partnerships
- Design and negotiate enterprise partnership structures spanning service, infrastructure, and technology arrangements.
- Lead the structuring of commercial terms, milestones, risk allocation, and rollout commitments.
- Develop customer-specific business cases defining value propositions, deployment assumptions, and success criteria.
- Navigate multi-stakeholder enterprise environments spanning operations, finance, legal, and executive leadership.
- Build and deepen strategic relationships with enterprise customers and ecosystem partners.
- Convert complex initial engagements into durable, repeatable commercial templates.
Financial & Economic Leadership
- Build and own decision-grade commercial models, including unit economics, ROI frameworks, deployment assumptions, and scaling scenarios.
- Ensure all deals meet Matternet's economic thresholds and long-term platform strategy.
- Translate customer demand into coherent operational and financial plans.
Organizational Leadership
- Lead and scale the commercial organization, managing a lean team initially and expanding as traction grows.
- Establish pipeline discipline, forecasting rigor, sales process, and performance metrics.
- Build a high-accountability operating cadence across functions.
- Recruit, develop, and retain high-performing commercial talent.
- Ensure executional alignment from deal signature through deployment.
- Senior commercial leadership with direct ownership of enterprise revenue, ideally in a venture-backed, high-growth environment.
- Track record structuring and closing complex strategic partnerships and first-of-kind enterprise agreements.
- Experience commercializing hardware-enabled, infrastructure-based, or operationally complex platforms — not pure software — including leading phased deployments from pilot through scaled rollout.
- Strong analytical capability, including building customer-specific business cases and unit-economics models; comfort working directly in Excel to support deal decisions and Board-level presentations.
- Experience operating in regulated or advanced-technology environments such as aviation, robotics, autonomy, infrastructure, or complex logistics.
- Built and grown go-to-market teams from lean to scale while remaining hands-on in execution.
- Experience launching new business models or category-defining offerings where commercialization required educating customers and creating market structure.

Compensation: The expected base salary range for this role is $275,000–$375,000, based on San Francisco Bay Area market data. This range reflects the target starting pay for candidates who meet the minimum qualifications for the role. Final compensation will depend on factors such as your experience, skills, level, location, and potential impact.

Senior Mechanical Engineer, Ground Systems
Matternet designs, builds, and operates autonomous drone networks for fast, low-cost, low-emission delivery. We’re seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design, prototyping, validation, and production of our ground systems.
Matternet Stations ground systems are a core part of our system, providing a safe, automated interface for drones to land, charge, and exchange payloads. They enable continuous, reliable operations and play a critical role in making autonomous delivery practical at scale.
In this role, you’ll own electromechanical subsystems end-to-end, working across electrical, software, safety, operations, and manufacturing teams. This is a hands-on position combining deep engineering analysis with rapid prototyping, testing, and field validation.
You Will:
- Lead concept-to-production mechanical engineering for Stations and other ground systems that support charging, payload handling, security and environmental protection.
- Translate system requirements into robust mechanical designs for enclosures, door and actuator systems, latching/locking mechanisms, landing-platform interfaces and FOD/propeller-safety features.
- Perform structural, vibration and thermal analyses (FEA, modal, thermal) and iterate designs to meet reliability and survivability goals for outdoor operation.
- Design and validate mechanical systems for reliable, high-cycle operation in a variety of environmental conditions (snow, ice, heavy rain, hail, wind) and for appropriate ingress protection.
- Integrate mechanical systems with power and charging hardware, backup power, cable routing and enclosure safety considerations.
- Define thermal management strategies for enclosures and battery or electronics compartments and validate those strategies with testing.
- Create and run validation plans and test campaigns (lab and field) and coordinate necessary electrical and safety testing.
- Drive producibility: design for manufacturability, tolerance control, tooling and test-fixture definition, supplier handoff and maintainability in the field.
- Mentor junior engineers, lead design reviews, and produce high-quality documentation and release packages.
- Participate in field installations, commissioning and flight/asset tests as needed.
- 7+ years of mechanical engineering experience designing electromechanical systems (experience in robotics, station/dock design, aerospace, automotive or similar is a plus).
- Strong hands-on design experience with CAD (SolidWorks or equivalent) and FEA tools.
- Proven ability to design actuated mechanisms, latching/locking systems, and motion/drive elements for reliable, repeatable operation.
- Experience designing enclosures and seals for outdoor use and familiarity with environmental protection strategies.
- Practical knowledge of thermal design for ensuring proper electronics packaging.
- Experience integrating mechanical designs with electrical systems, including safe routing and mounting of low-voltage (60VDC) and batteries that integrate with the grid.
- Track record of rapid prototyping, hands-on validation and closing issues discovered during test.
- Experience with design for manufacturability, supplier handoff and building production-ready documentation.
- Excellent cross-functional collaboration and communication skills; able to work closely with systems, EE, SW, operations and manufacturing.
- Comfortable working onsite in a fast-paced environment with frequent hands-on activity in lab and field.
