The OpenAI Audit Team is on a mission to build the future of internal audit from the ground up. Our ambition will be powered by a high-energy, technically exceptional team with the judgment, intellectual curiosity, and creativity to harness the latest advances in AI and design a truly next-generation audit function.
As AI reshapes how work is performed across the enterprise, Internal Audit will use AI, automation, and data analytics to identify and assess the most significant and emerging risks across the business, including technology, cybersecurity, finance, compliance, operations, and data.
We will build trusted partnerships at every level—from the Board of Directors and senior leadership to the teams delivering on OpenAI’s mission every day. We will operate as both an independent assurance provider and a trusted advisor, bringing an objective and pragmatic perspective to critical decisions. By engaging closely with management while preserving our independence, we will help the business innovate responsibly, move with confidence, and manage risk without creating unnecessary barriers.
About the Role
As the Finance & Operations Audit Leader, you will help shape the strategy, methodology, technology, and culture of a new audit function. You will lead complex audits, forensic and investigative reviews, and advisory work across financial reporting, accounting, finance, and business operations, while addressing related compliance risks. You will advise leaders on practical ways to strengthen governance, execution, accountability, and risk management.
You are an experienced, hands-on professional who combines deep finance and accounting knowledge with strong audit, risk, and business judgment. Your work will span across finance & accounting areas including treasury, tax, revenue, financial planning, business operations, and enterprise governance, with opportunities to apply forensic accounting techniques to complex transactions, anomalies, and potential misconduct.
You will move comfortably between executive-level governance questions and detailed examination of financial records, processes, controls, and transaction-level data. You will understand how risks intersect across functions and form clear, well-supported conclusions in fast-moving or ambiguous situations.
You will have meaningful influence over how the function develops, including how we apply AI, automation, and analytics to financial and operational risk assessment, audit planning, testing, continuous monitoring, and reporting. This is an opportunity to help build a state-of-the-art capability rather than inherit a traditional audit model.
This role is based in San Francisco, CA. We use a hybrid work model of 3 days in the office per week and offer relocation assistance to new employees.
In this role, you will:
Lead risk-based audits and advisory reviews across finance, accounting, and business operations, with related compliance risks considered as part of an integrated risk assessment.
Assess the governance and oversight of financial management and critical business operations, including major enterprise programs, third-party relationships, and operational resilience.
Evaluate financial processes and controls across financial reporting, accounting, treasury, tax, revenue, procurement, payroll, expense management, and financial planning, with a focus on accuracy, integrity, scalability, efficiency, and resilience.
Conduct or support forensic accounting and investigative reviews involving unusual transactions, fraud indicators, control circumvention, or other financial irregularities, and develop clear, evidence-based conclusions.
Evaluate operational processes and relevant compliance obligations, including risks arising from new products, markets, partnerships, organizational changes, and the use of AI in financial and operational workflows.
Use data analytics, automation, and AI to improve risk assessment, scoping, testing, continuous monitoring, and reporting, including analysis of transaction populations, anomalies, control weaknesses, and emerging risks.
Translate complex financial and operational observations into clear business implications and practical, timely advice that supports innovation, growth, accountability, and effective risk management.
Build trusted relationships across Finance, Accounting, Operations, Legal, Compliance, and other teams; support clear reporting to executive management, regulators, and the Board; and monitor relevant accounting, regulatory, and industry developments.
Coach colleagues, share finance, accounting, and audit expertise, and contribute to a culture of high standards, sound judgment, curiosity, ownership, and continuous learning.
You might thrive in this role if you have:
10-12+ years of relevant experience in internal audit, public accounting, corporate finance or accounting, forensic accounting, operational audit, or a related field.
Deep expertise in financial reporting, accounting, and internal controls, with strong knowledge of several areas such as treasury, tax, revenue, procurement, payroll, expense management, or financial planning.
Demonstrated experience leading complex financial and operational audits from risk assessment and scoping through testing, reporting, remediation, and issue validation.
Experience with forensic accounting, investigations, fraud risk, or transaction-level data analysis is highly valued.
A strong understanding of data and AI risks—including data quality, lineage, governance, access, and analytics—plus experience using automation or AI-assisted techniques in audit, finance, accounting, or control testing.
The ability to understand end-to-end business processes, analyze incomplete or conflicting financial and operational information, ask incisive questions, and reach well-supported conclusions.
The confidence to challenge constructively, communicate complex issues clearly to executives, and collaborate across Finance, Accounting, Operations, Legal, Compliance, Product, and senior management.
A relevant bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience, together with the initiative, curiosity, and adaptability to build a new capability in a fast-moving environment.
A CIA or CPA credential—or a comparable internationally recognized audit or accounting qualification—is strongly preferred.

We are building a supply-chain organization capable of supporting our transition from laboratory-scale development to factory-scale operations. We are looking for an Inventory Manager to build and operate our inventory function from the ground up.
This is a highly hands-on role. In the near term, you may start with an empty room and be responsible for determining what racks, shelving, bins, labels, scanners, workflows, and systems are needed to turn it into a functional stockroom. You will receive material, organize inventory, perform counts, move parts between buildings, resolve discrepancies, and establish the processes others will eventually follow.
As we grow, you will have the opportunity to develop this foundation into a full-scale, multi-site factory inventory operation. You may hire and manage contractors or onsite inventory administrators, but this role will initially have a significant individual-contributor component and will remain accountable for day-to-day execution.
This role owns inventory and internal logistics. It does not own purchasing, production planning, or inbound and outbound supplier logistics.
This role is based in San Francisco, CA and requires in-person presence 5 days a week.
In this role you will:
Build inventory operations from the ground up across various OpenAI facilities.
Design and set up stockrooms, receiving areas, and material-storage locations, including selecting racks, shelving, bins, carts, labeling equipment, scanners, and other infrastructure.
Personally execute core inventory activities, including receiving, labeling, putaway, picking, kitting, issuing, cycle counting, transfers, returns, and inventory adjustments.
Establish practical receiving procedures that ensure incoming material is identified, recorded, inspected or quarantined when appropriate, and made available quickly.
Hire, train, and manage contractors or onsite inventory administrators as volume and facility needs grow.
Create location structures, naming conventions, barcode workflows, material-status controls, and standard work.
Maintain accurate visibility into what inventory exists, where it is located, and whether it is available for use.
Establish and maintain cycle-counting and physical-inventory programs, investigate discrepancies, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
Own internal logistics and material movement between company facilities, including transfer processes, delivery schedules, chain of custody, transaction accuracy, and reconciliation.
Develop appropriate controls for serialized, lot-controlled, high-value, consigned, returned, obsolete, and nonconforming material.
Serve as the business owner for inventory tools and workflows.
Partner with the systems team to translate operational needs into requirements, prioritize improvements, test new functionality, and drive adoption.
Create procedures and training that allow inventory operations to be replicated consistently at new facilities.
Identify inventory risks, shortages, excess material, unidentified material, and process breakdowns before they disrupt operations.

4+ years of experience in inventory management, warehouse operations, materials operations, internal logistics, or a related field.
Experience building or substantially improving an inventory operation, not only working within an established one.
Strong working knowledge of receiving, putaway, picking, kitting, cycle counting, material transfers, inventory reconciliation, and physical inventory controls.
Willingness to work directly in stockrooms, receiving areas, laboratories, and manufacturing spaces.

About the Role
As the Cybersecurity & Technology Audit Leader, you will help shape the strategy, methodology, technology, and culture of a new audit function. You will lead complex audits and advisory reviews of cybersecurity, technology, data, and AI-related risks while advising leaders on practical ways to strengthen governance, resilience, and risk management.
You are an experienced, hands-on professional who combines deep technical expertise with strong business judgment. You can quickly move between executive-level governance questions and detailed technical analysis, use data to identify and assess risk, and form clear, well-supported conclusions in fast-moving or ambiguous situations.
You will have meaningful influence over how the function develops, including how we apply AI, automation, and analytics to audit planning, testing, monitoring, and reporting. This is an opportunity to help build a state-of-the-art capability rather than inherit a traditional audit model.
This role is based in San Francisco, CA. We use a hybrid work model of 3 days in the office per week and offer relocation assistance to new employees.
In this role, you will:
Build and execute a risk-based audit and advisory strategy across cybersecurity, infrastructure, systems architecture, cloud environments, data, software development, change management, operational resilience, and AI.
Drive strong governance and oversight of critical technology programs and emerging AI risks, including model governance, data provenance and quality, privacy, security, responsible AI, third-party dependencies, monitoring, and human oversight.
Assess complex technical environments and control effectiveness across areas—such as architecture, access models, system logs, code repositories, cloud controls, vulnerability data, and security monitoring—with a focus on distinguishing material risks from lower-value compliance issues.
Translate complex technical findings into clear business implications and practical recommendations that enable innovation while supporting effective risk management.
Build advanced audit capabilities using data analytics, automation, and AI to improve risk assessment, audit scoping, testing, continuous monitoring, and reporting, including identifying anomalies, control weaknesses, and emerging risks.
Build trusted relationships across the organization and support clear, effective reporting to executive management, regulators, and the Board.
Monitor developments in technology, threat activity, regulation, and industry practices to keep the audit approach current and forward-looking.
Coach colleagues, share technical expertise, and contribute to a culture of high standards, sound judgment, curiosity, ownership, and continuous learning.
You might thrive in this role if you have:
12-15+ years of relevant experience in cybersecurity, technology audit, technology risk, security engineering, data risk, cloud security, or a related field.
Strong technical expertise across several areas, such as cloud platforms, identity and access management, application security, infrastructure, networks, vulnerability management, incident response, security operations, data platforms, or software development.
Strong knowledge of data architecture, provenance, lineage, quality, governance, access, and analytics, including the risks associated with using data in AI systems.
Knowledge of AI and machine-learning risks, along with experience using data analytics, scripting, automation, or AI-assisted techniques—or a demonstrated ability to develop these capabilities quickly.
The ability to understand complex systems, ask incisive questions, evaluate incomplete information, and reach well-supported conclusions with sound judgment.
The confidence to challenge constructively and a business-enabling mindset that balances innovation, speed, business impact, and risk.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills, including the ability to explain complex technical issues to executives and work effectively with technology leaders, engineers, risk professionals, and senior management.
Comfort operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment, with the initiative, curiosity, and adaptability to help build a new team and capability.
A bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity, computer science, information systems, engineering, data science, accounting, or a related discipline—or equivalent practical experience.
Relevant certifications, such as CISSP, CISA, CISM, CRISC, CCSP, cloud-provider certifications, or data and AI credentials are valued but not required.
