Cloud computing is the future of computing, and yet today, that future is restricted to a rental-only service provider model that excludes the on-premises economy. Oxide has built a vertically integrated, rack-level cloud computer, delivering the efficiencies, automation, and developer experience of the cloud in a form that businesses can own. We’re seeking Solutions Architects to serve as a senior technical voice in customer engagements, with prospects, and with partners.
As a Solutions Architect working at Oxide you will:
Serve as Oxide’s technical representative to the customer’s application development, IT operations, and DevSecOps teams to help them evaluate, technically validate, adopt, migrate, operate, and then scale workloads onto Oxide.
Provide technical support for customer programs and initiatives for Oxide while working among application development, IT operations, DevSecOps, cloud operations and migrations teams for efforts like application migration planning, readiness reviews, observability analysis, etc. Prior experience with cloud migrations is helpful but not required.
Possess a very strong knowledge and understanding of both on-premises and cloud infrastructure including: compute, virtualization, containerization, network, storage technologies, infrastructure as a service, platform as a service, and DevSecOps technologies based on industry and previous experience.
Ensure Oxide is positioned as a strategic partner in target and customer accounts by working as a trusted advisor to the entire IT organization among the CIO, CISO, application development, operations, security, architecture, and administration teams.
You will thrive in this role if you:
Have 8+ years in enterprise infrastructure, cloud, or systems architecture roles; prior experience as Solutions Engineer or Solutions Architect is strongly preferred
Possess deep expertise across cloud, compute, storage, and security architectures with a proven track record of executive-level customer engagement and influencing large technology decisions.
Have exceptional communication, presentation, and storytelling abilities combined with strong business orientation that enables you to link technology vision to business value effectively.

Networking Deployment Engineer
Are you a software engineer with a disposition toward networked systems design or networking engineer with a disposition toward systems programming and software development? We are seeking engineers to join our networking team with a focus on modeling and verification of Oxide deployments, developing testbed technologies to emulate both Oxide systems and broader deployment environments, and work with our customer support team to prepare for new types of deployment environments.
As a cloud infrastructure company, our success is defined by our customers' success in deploying Oxide Cloud Computers that host critical business functions. There are many different types of environments our customers deploy Oxide systems into today and the heterogeneity and scale is growing rapidly. We take being prepared for any and all environments that Oxide Cloud Computers will deploy to very seriously. This role is all about that: being prepared. We view validation and verification of cloud infrastructure as an engineering discipline in its own right and are looking for engineers who share this viewpoint.
We are taking a very ambitious approach with respect to networking: not only have we developed our own compute sled and cabled backplane, we have also developed our own switch, and then the entire stack of software from the lowest levels of firmware to end-user experience — and everything in between! As a networking deployment engineer, you will:
Collaborate with other engaged, friendly systems engineers to understand customer use cases and ensure the Oxide platform is ready for a wide variety of deployment environments.
Develop tools to emulate and analyze complex networks, including those deployed in production at customer sites. Logging, tracing, and metrics are critical pieces of distributed systems, and you’ll get the chance to dig into them all.
Write code in Rust, P4 and more. The code you write will be open source (e.g., Falcon, a Rust-based framework for modeling and deploying networked systems with emulated Oxide racks), and across many different codebases.
Operate across multiple layers of the stack to model and verify how true rack-scales system interact their deployment environment, including our integrated switch, a custom compute sled, and all software connecting and orchestrating them.
You will thrive in this role if you:
Have experience deploying and operating large-scale mission-critical network and compute infrastructure.
Have previously worked with Rust or another low-level systems language such as C.
Have implemented networking protocols in environments that were constrained by performance and correctness.
Have experience designing, implementing, deploying and operating data center networks using dynamic routing protocols and overlay networks.
Have experience with BGP implementation or deployment.
Enjoy the idea of owning the inter-rack networking end-to-end (host OS + NIC + switch + switch OS) – and also of integrating that networking with a customer’s larger network.

Quality Manager
Are you a systems thinker who thrives on making things measurably better? We’re looking for a Quality Manager to help us scale and sustain production of our rack-scale computer. You’ll work closely with design, manufacturing, and supplier teams to drive quality across every stage of the product lifecycle, from first article builds to customer deployments.
While Oxide is a remote-friendly company, we’ve found that being physically present at a manufacturing facility can be essential to assuring product quality. This role will involve a significant amount of travel to our contract manufacturers in Minnesota and other suppliers as required.
As a supplier quality manager, you will:
Work closely with our suppliers to develop processes, procedures, and documentation for our product
Collaborate with Oxide engineers and quality engineers at our contract manufacturer to ensure test processes support quality initiatives
Review work instructions developed by the contract manufacturer to ensure our product is correctly assembled
Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions when issues arise in build or test, including component failures and process deviations.
Support first article builds, bring-up, and ongoing production, acting as a hands-on lead from prototype to scale.
Own customer and supplier quality issues. This ranges from working with our warranty and support engineering team to address customer quality issues and following through with suppliers with Non-Conformance Reports (NCR).
Work with our operations team to develop, identify, and deploy a Quality Management System
Develop and maintain quality control plans, incoming inspection procedures, and in-process checks for complex electromechanical systems
Work with Oxide’s infrastructure team to develop a quality portal to communicate requirements to suppliers
Review test results and production data to identify trends, drive root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs)
Collaborate with quality engineers at our contract manufacturer to resolve line-down issues with urgency.
Evaluate supplier capability, monitor incoming quality performance, and drive continuous improvement with key partners
Define and manage supplier qualification criteria, including PPAP/FMEA documentation where appropriate
Support on-site customer audits as required. Act as the quality liaison between Oxide engineering and external vendors for mechanical, electrical, and assembly-related issues
Participate in design reviews with a focus on inspection feasibility, failure modes, and long-term reliability
Help define meaningful quality metrics and implement scalable systems to track and act on them
Write and maintain clear quality documentation, from procedures and manuals, to issue trackers and failure reports
Build trusted relationships with hardware, software, and manufacturing teams to align on what “good” looks like and how we measure it
You will thrive in this role if you:
Approach quality issues with urgency to identify problems and drive resolution with internal and external teams
Have experience working with contract manufacturers in the electronics industry, from printed circuit board fabrication and assembly all the way to system integration and test.

Field Technical Delivery Engineer
At Oxide, we see every issue in the datacenter as our own, whether it’s hardware, software, or the interaction between the two. Supporting customers in the field goes beyond just replacing hardware: we’re solving problems end-to-end, building trust, and making sure our systems deliver as promised. We are looking for candidates located in the Midwest.
Working at Oxide in Field Delivery you will:
Work closely with customers to deliver timely onsite support — from rack installation to hardware replacements and upgrades — while also troubleshooting complex hardware and software issues to quickly remediate failures.
Perform hands-on work directly on production racks, balancing care, precision, and speed while ensuring minimal disruption to customer operations.
Work closely with our Manufacturing and Operations teams to coordinate replacement parts — ensuring the right components are ordered, shipped, and ready when you arrive onsite.
Manage and triage inbound customer communications, ensuring timely responses, updates, and resolution within SLA commitments.
Collaborate with Support Engineering and other teams to drive resolution, share learnings, and inform product improvements.
Document troubleshooting steps, solutions, and best practices for both internal and customer-facing knowledge bases.
Provide direct feedback from the field to help improve product quality, reliability, and usability.
Act as a trusted technical point of contact for customers, whether onsite or remote, building long-term credibility and trust.
Participate in regular on-call rotations to provide support (onsite and remote) for critical customer issues.
Technical Skills & Experience
Strong proficiency with Unix/Linux system administration (Solaris/illumos experience a plus).
Solid understanding of server architecture, including compute, storage, and networking fundamentals.
Hands-on experience working safely and confidently on racks in production environments.
Hands-on experience with scripting languages (Python, Bash, or similar) for automation and troubleshooting.
Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, or similar).
Exposure to cloud orchestration platforms and API-driven operations.
Experience debugging distributed systems and working across hardware/software boundaries.
Knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing) and system performance tuning.
Ability to interpret logs across the stack to diagnose and resolve issues.

Performance Engineer
Are you an engineer who loves understanding and improving the performance of systems? We are seeking versatile engineers to work on the performance of Oxide systems wherever suboptimality is to be found: from the depths of hardware, through the operating system kernel and hypervisor and into the guest operating system — and to the highest levels of the application stack.
As an engineer focused on systems performance, you will:
Work rigorously to understand existing limiters to performance, wherever those limiters may lie.
Prototype improvements to the system, be they small fixes, larger scale re-writes, or entirely de novo subsystems.

Operating System Virtualization Engineer
Do you love operating systems implementation, digging into the gritty interface where software meets machine? We are seeking a software engineer to work on our illumos-based host operating system, Helios and our Rust-based VMM, Propolis. These technologies sit at the center of the Oxide technology stack, interfacing directly with a wide range of hardware, embedded software, and third-party firmware to support the Oxide control plane and its virtual machine instances. The host OS is holistically designed to begin execution with the processor’s first instruction; it uniquely subsumes and replaces functionality that UEFI and ACPI firmware provide in other architectures. The Rust-based VMM is a de novo implementation based on the bhyve hypervisor.
As an engineer working on host system software and virtualization, you will:
Work with a helpful and experienced team to design, build, and bring up host system software, in-kernel virtualization, and the user-space VMM on current and future Oxide computers
Read and write code in C (for the operating system writ large), in Rust (for Propolis and for some in-kernel components), and/or microprocessor assembly. All the code you write will be open source.
Grow and apply your understanding of microprocessors, through deep familiarity with available documentation, interacting directly with real hardware, and producing your own documents where the vendor’s fall short

Product Assurance Engineer
