Technical Lead Manager, AI Platform

THE ROLE
We have 15 engineers and more than $100M in ARR, and we're scaling the engineering team roughly 3x over the next year. The AI Platform team is where our data advantage becomes product: it owns the matching, ranking, and agentic systems that decide which recruiter sees which role, which candidate reaches which company, and how much of the hiring process runs without a human touching it.
We're hiring a technical leader to own the AI Platform engineering team. This is a TLM role: you'll manage a pod of applied AI and ML engineers while staying deep in the core ML work yourself, from data and model design to the hardest ranking and matching problems. You'll partner closely with product and data science and be accountable for outcomes, not output: match quality, automation rate, and the hiring velocity our systems create for customers. Title (Tech Lead Manager or Technical Director) depends on your experience; the ownership doesn't.
Expect to spend at least a third of your time building, more in the early days. You'll read PRs, review evals, and ship production code yourself, every week, not occasionally. The management load grows as the team does, but the technical bar you set personally is a core part of the job.
WHAT YOU'LL OWN
- The team. Hire, coach, and level a pod of applied AI and ML engineers. We run small autonomous teams with high judgment expectations, and we promote on judgment, not lines of code.
- Core ML, hands-on. The matching, ranking, and retrieval models are yours at the code level: data and labeling strategy, feature and embedding design, model selection, training, and fine-tuning. When match quality plateaus, you're the one who finds the next win.
- The hardest modeling problems. The ambiguous, high-risk ML work that isn't ready to delegate: a ranking model that stops improving, an offline eval that disagrees with production, a cold-start problem with no clean labels. You take these on and ship the fix yourself.
- Matching and ranking. The models at the core of the marketplace: retrieval, ranking, and personalization systems that decide how supply meets demand. Improvements here move revenue directly.
- Agentic systems. LLM-powered workflows and automation that take real work off recruiters, hiring managers, and our own ops team. Reliability matters as much as capability; these systems act on behalf of real businesses.
- Trust & safety. The systems that keep the marketplace honest: fraud and spam detection, submission quality enforcement, and guardrails that keep AI outputs accurate and fair when they touch real candidates and real hiring decisions.
- Evaluation rigor. Nothing ships on vibes. You'll own the eval frameworks that measure quality, reliability, and business impact in production, and build the team's muscle for knowing when a model change is actually better.
- The quality/cost/latency frontier. Deciding when an LLM is the right tool and when traditional ML wins, and keeping the whole system fast and economical as usage scales.
- Roadmap and delivery. Turn ambiguous business goals into a quarterly plan the team believes in, then ship it.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Staff-level IC depth in ML or applied AI: you're the person others pull in when the problem is genuinely hard, and you've stayed technical while leading
- 1+ years managing or formally tech-leading engineers (Tech Lead Manager) or 4+ years including setting technical direction across multiple teams (Technical Director)
- You've shipped production ML or LLM systems used by real people at scale: retrieval, ranking, recommendation, agentic workflows, or similar
- Eval-driven: you know how to measure model quality against business outcomes, not just offline benchmarks, and you can tell a real win from noise
- Data-fluent: you can pull your own SQL, sanity-check an experiment readout, and push back on a bad metric
- AI fluency is a floor here, not a differentiator. You use AI tools in your own work and you know how to raise a team's leverage with them
- You write things down. Operating norms, decision docs, postmortems. Clarity in writing is how small teams stay fast as they grow
- You still want to build. If writing production code every week sounds like a step backward, this isn't the role
WHY THIS ROLE
AI Platform is where Paraform's moat gets built. We have proprietary hiring data no one else has, and the systems your team builds turn it into better matches, faster fills, and automation the rest of the industry can't replicate. You'll set the technical direction for AI at the company while the org is still small enough that your decisions compound.

Supply Support Specialist

$80k–100k

THE ROLE
You'll be the front line for recruiters on the platform — the person they reach when they're getting started, hit a wall, or need something resolved fast. Day to day that means recruiter onboarding, platform and process help, submission and approval issues, payout questions, and disputes. You'll work in the platform Support chat, Slack, and email, and partner closely with the teams around you: Sourcing/onboarding, Activations, and Account Managers.
This is an early, high-ownership seat. Support at Paraform is still largely manual today, so a big part of the job is not just answering questions but designing the recurring ones out of existence — better onboarding, better self-serve, better systems. The work sits close enough to the rest of the business that you'll be expected to reason about the marketplace, not just clear a queue.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Be the first, fastest, and friendliest point of contact for recruiters across chat, Slack, and email.
- Triage and prioritize a high volume of competing requests — knowing what to answer first and why.
- Resolve platform, submission, approval, and payout issues, escalating cleanly when you can't.
- Help newly approved recruiters get to their first submissions and understand where they're competitive.
- Spot patterns across incoming questions and build structural fixes — onboarding improvements, Help Center content, self-serve flows — that reduce repeat volume.
- Partner with Sourcing, Activations, and Account Managers to keep recruiters engaged and active.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
The traits below map to how we evaluate throughout the process:
- Recruiter-first mindset — you instinctively reason from the customer's incentives and experience, and you protect their trust, especially around money and fairness.
- Sharp communication — clear, warm, professional writing with a casual-but-polished tone and no careless slips.
- Prioritization & judgment — you triage ambiguity with a defensible rationale and name what you don't know instead of guessing.
- Business & systems thinking — you connect a support pattern to the underlying business dynamics and think in systems and unit economics, not one-off tickets.
- Ownership & bias to build — you want to design problems away and drive self-serve; you learn fast and are comfortable building in a role that's still manual today.
NICE TO HAVE
- Experience in a high-volume, customer- or recruiter-facing role (support, ops, recruiting, account management).
- Exposure to marketplaces, recruiting, or ATS tools (e.g. Ashby, Greenhouse).
- Experience with payment processing and/or fintech.
- A track record of improving a process, not just staffing one.

DIRECTOR, SUPPLY ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT
About Paraform. Paraform powers the next generation of recruiting firms — helping top recruiters build six- and seven-figure businesses while they hire for companies like Ramp, Decagon, and Hightouch. We treat recruiters as entrepreneurs, not vendors, and we build the infrastructure that powers their businesses. We're an early-stage, fast-moving team combining a network of expert recruiters with agentic AI tooling.
The role. We're looking for a builder-leader to own and scale the account-management engine on our supply side. This is not SaaS customer success; there are no annual contracts and no renewals. Your job is the economic health of thousands of independent recruiter businesses: how many are active, how fast they place, and how much of their effort lands on our platform. You'll design a tiered, verticalized account motion for our concentrated top of supply and build a programmatic, product-led motion for the long tail that no human can cover. You'll manage a growing team of managers and ICs, promote your own bench, and partner with Product to turn operational friction into automation.
What you'll do
- Build the tiered + verticalized architecture. Design high-touch incubation for the recruiters who drive most of our placement volume, segmented by vertical, and build automated, milestone-triggered engagement for the long tail — without burning out the team on recruiters a human can't move.
- Own supply activation and retention economics. Maximize active, placement-producing recruiters and defend against the silent killer of a marketplace: dormancy in the tail.
- Lead leaders and build the bench. Promote high-output ICs into first-time managers, de-risk those bets, and hire elite external operators. Manage through layers as the org grows past its current shape.
- Act as a product partner and demand-side delivery partner (ops as product). Treat recurring recruiter problems as systems problems. Turn manual plays into specs, features, and AI-agent capabilities instead of asking for more headcount. Work closely and collaboratively with demand-side counterparts to drive liquidity in the marketplace.
- Diagnose with data. Use modern AI data tools to find where liquidity is leaking — cohort drop-offs, over-exploited top recruiters, under-fed new supply — and run precise interventions.
What we're looking for
- 6+ years scaling supply-side operations or account management in a marketplace or high-growth, target-carrying commercial environment — and real time managing managers, not just flat IC teams.
- Marketplace native. You think in liquidity, activation, earnings distribution and switching costs, not NRR and health scores. You see recruiters as small-business owners with zero switching costs.
- Builder who scales. You've built a playbook from scratch, run it yourself, and handed it to a team — and you can show the evidence it scaled. You're allergic to permanent manual friction.
- Leader of leaders in rapidly scaling environments. You've promoted first-time managers and hired externally in a fast, under-structured environment — and you can name the bets that worked and the ones that didn't.
- Data curiosity. You don't need to write SQL, but you know exactly what to ask the data, how to validate it, and how to design hypothesis-driven experiments to inflect it.
Why you'll love it
- Company-defining leverage. The supply you steward enables platform GMV. Driving breadth and depth of recruiter engagement is a top-line lever.
- Build 0 to 1. Like Uber's early driver ops or DoorDash's merchant success, you'll build a marketplace supply org's operating system — then automate it.
- Real ownership. You own the architecture, the team, and the number.
