As Data Engineering Lead, you'll own our data warehouse and everything around it — the pipelines that feed it, the models built on top of it, the metering our billing depends on, and the reporting the company makes decisions from. This role is heavy on backend and infrastructure, specialized in data. It's hands-on and it's a lead role, and both halves are real. You'll be writing production code and setting the architecture, and you'll grow into leading the team we build behind it. If you want to own a layer of the company outright rather than pick up tickets on someone else's roadmap, this is that job.

The matters these firms bring to Patlytics are among their most critical: strategic patent prosecution, active litigation, and high-stakes licensing negotiations. Faced with record claim volumes and growing case complexity, practitioners trust Patlytics to scale their output without compromising the precision their clients, the courts, and their firms demand.
With teams across the globe we're building a global company fueled by exceptional talent and bold ideas. Our rapid expansion is driven by people who bring entrepreneurial energy, intellectual curiosity, and a shared commitment to setting the global standard for AI-powered IP intelligence. This is a rare chance to help define a new category in real time – the work is ambitious, the bar is high, and the opportunity for growth is unmatched.
Role Overview
The Head of People runs our people function: HR systems, compliance, compensation, performance, and hiring.
Day to day, that means administering Rippling and Ashby, running compensation and performance cycles, keeping us compliant across the states and countries we operate in, handling employee relations, and owning hiring for our most important roles. You'll extend our job architecture and comp bands as we add teams and geographies, and work with managers to make sure our programs are used consistently.
You'll work closely with our CEO on leveling and compensation decisions, org design, and sensitive employee situations. This is a hands-on role that we expect to grow into a team.
What You'll Do
- Own People Operations infrastructure end to end — HRIS (Rippling) administration and data integrity, job architecture maintenance, workflow automation, and the reporting leadership uses to make headcount and comp decisions.
- Run and evolve the compensation framework: leveling, bands by job family, equity guidelines, offer construction, and the annual review and refresh cycles that keep it credible.
- Operate the performance program — review cadence, calibration, promotion decisions, and manager enablement — and drive the adoption that determines whether it works.
- Own employment compliance across all jurisdictions, including I-9 and work authorization, wage and hour, leave, required trainings, policy upkeep, and the people-side evidence supporting SOC 2 and customer security reviews.
- Manage global employment operations across US and international entities, partnering with counsel, EOR providers, and finance on classification and benefits.
- Own recruiting: ATS (Ashby) administration, interview process quality, scorecards, pipeline reporting, and hands-on execution on the searches that matter most.
- Lead employee relations with judgment and discretion — performance management, investigations, terminations, and the conversations that require a steady, credible partner.
- Partner with the CEO and executives on workforce planning, organizational design, and the people implications of how the company grows.
What You'll Bring
- 8+ years in People Operations, HR, or Talent, including time owning the function at a high-growth technology company.
- Deep hands-on HRIS and ATS fluency — you administer these systems yourself rather than supervising someone who does. Rippling and Ashby experience is a strong plus.
- Experience running compensation cycles, leveling decisions, and job architecture in a venture-backed environment, including equity structures.
- Strong command of US employment compliance across multiple states, and ideally international entities.
- Sound judgment and discretion in employee relations. You've handled sensitive situations without drama and without exposure.
- Recruiting credibility across technical and go-to-market roles.
- The discipline to work inside an existing system — improving what's there and extending it as the company grows, rather than rebuilding it to your own preferences.
- Bonus: SOC 2 or similar audit experience; background in AI, legal tech, or another domain requiring specialized talent.

About Patlytics
Patlytics is the fastest-growing AI-native patent intelligence platform, transforming how intellectual property is protected and monetized at scale. Our advanced LLMs and generative AI engine—custom-built for IP—power every phase of the patent workflow, from invention disclosure through litigation, delivering citation-backed insights with unprecedented accuracy and speed.
Backed by Google’s Gradient Ventures, Next47, and 8VC—with $21 million raised in just nine months—we’re trusted by Fortune 500 companies and leading Am Law 100 firms, including Quinn Emanuel, Google, Koch Industries, Xerox, and Foley & Lardner.
With teams across the U.S., Europe, and Asia, we’re rapidly building a global organization fueled by exceptional talent and bold ideas. Our growth is driven by people who bring tremendous work ethic, entrepreneurial energy, and intellectual curiosity—united by a shared commitment to setting the global standard for AI-powered IP intelligence. We’re creating a culture where diverse perspectives drive breakthrough innovation, and every voice contributes to transforming how the world protects ideas.
ABOUT THE ROLE
You'll own pipeline generation at Patlytics. The role has two speeds, and you'll need both. There's a growth-hacking element: scrappy experiments, fast iteration, finding unfair advantages before competitors do. And there's the systems element: turning what works into repeatable, scalable programs that compound quarter over quarter. Hackers who can't build systems stall out here. Systems people who can't hustle move too slow.
One thing this is not: volume marketing. We sell enterprise SaaS to patent litigators and Chief IP Counsel, a legally sophisticated audience that scrutinizes every claim we make. Growth here means putting qualified IP decision-makers into demos, and proving it with numbers.
You'll be the first dedicated growth hire on a lean team. You'll work directly with the VP of Marketing, events marketing, the broader GTM team, our content contractors, and AI agents that operate as real members of the working team. You'll ship fast, measure everything, and kill what doesn't work.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
• Own the demand gen engine end to end: paid, email nurture, webinars, and campaign execution that drives demo bookings
• Build and run ABM programs targeting Am Law 100/200 firms and Fortune 500 in-house IP teams
• Own SEO and AEO execution: keyword strategy, content briefs for contractors, technical health, and visibility in AI answer engines
• Build the measurement layer: attribution, funnel reporting, cost per opportunity, and pipeline contribution by channel
• Run experiments with clear hypotheses and success criteria, then turn winners into repeatable, documented programs and cut losers fast
• Turn case studies and proof points (like 90%+ time savings and $38K margin gains) into conversion assets: landing pages, email sequences, event follow-up
• Partner with sales on lead handoff, follow-up SLAs, and feedback loops so pipeline quality keeps improving
• Collaborate with events marketing and the broader GTM team so campaigns, events, and sales plays land as one coordinated motion, not parallel efforts
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
• 4+ years in B2B SaaS growth or demand generation, with at least 2 years in an enterprise, sales-led motion (six-figure ACVs, long cycles, no self-serve)
• High-growth scaleup experience marketing to enterprise buyers: you've built demand programs while the company scaled underneath you, and you know how to create structure without slowing down
• A track record you can show: pipeline sourced, demo volume grown, CAC improved. Specific numbers, not vibes
• Hands-on ABM experience targeting a narrow, senior buyer set
• Working command of the modern stack: marketing automation (HubSpot or similar), CRM, paid platforms (LinkedIn Ads especially), SEO tooling, and web analytics
• SEO/AEO fluency: you understand how buyers find answers through both search engines and AI assistants, and you know how to win in both
• Strong writing. Our audience notices sloppy copy. So do we
• Based in New York or willing to relocate. This role is in-office in NYC
• An AI-first mindset. This is a hard requirement, not a preference. AI agents are part of our working team alongside human talent, and your default should be “how do I build this with AI” before “how do I do this manually.” If you're still evaluating whether AI belongs in your workflow, this isn't the role
NICE TO HAVE
• Legal tech, fintech, or other regulated/high-scrutiny industry experience
• Early-stage experience: you've built programs from zero, not just optimized mature ones
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
• 10 days: Fully ramped on the buyer, the motion, and the current funnel. Audit of existing channels and data complete. Knows what's working, what's broken, and what's missing
• 20 days: Measurement foundation scoped and first experiments designed with hypotheses, budgets, and success criteria on paper
• 30 days: Measurement live. First ABM and paid experiments in market. SEO/AEO roadmap owned and moving
• 60 days: Early signal read. Doubling down on what's working, cutting what isn't. First demos attributed to owned programs
• 90 days: Repeatable programs running with clear channel attribution. Demo pipeline growing. A forecast for next quarter that sales believes
WHY THIS ROLE
You'll own a function, not a channel. You'll market a product with real proof behind it: verifiable accuracy, named customers like Quinn Emanuel and Rivian, and a category we're defining. And you'll do it at Series B speed with the resources to move fast.

This is a senior, judgment-heavy role for someone who can operate credibly with sophisticated technical and legal buyers. Own account mapping and prioritization across life sciences, pharma/biotech, medical device, and technical verticals – using patent filings, funding events, clinical pipelines, publications, litigation activity, and hiring signals to identify and rank buying intent.
Conduct deep technical and IP discovery on prospects – understanding their science, portfolio, and where Patlytics improves their patent and R&D workflows.
Build and maintain high-quality account intelligence and strategic briefs that arm Account Executives and Legal Engineers with context, hooks, stakeholder maps, and a clear point of view on the opportunity.
Lead targeted, research-driven outreach to senior technical and legal buyers (R&D leaders, IP counsel, patent strategists), engaging credibly on their terms and workflow challenges.
Act as the "Voice of the Market" for life sciences – synthesizing signals and patterns across the landscape to sharpen ICP definition and shape GTM strategy.
Partner closely with Sales, Marketing, Product, and Strategy to refine targeting, feed the pipeline, and iterate quickly as the market and product evolve.
Track competitive moves, emerging opportunity spaces, and shifts in the life sciences and technical IP landscape, and translate them into action.

8+ years of relevant experience, including meaningful depth in IP and life sciences.
Deep fluency reading and synthesizing technical and legal material (patents, papers, clinical pipelines) and translating it into concrete commercial insight and strategy.
Executive presence and the ability to engage credibly with senior technical and legal decision-makers and build trust quickly.
Strong research and commercial judgment, with comfort operating with ambiguity in a fast-moving, high-bar environment.
Extreme ownership and a proactive mindset – taking responsibility for outcomes and driving clarity rather than waiting for direction.
Outstanding written and verbal communication – able to make a rigorous technical case compelling to sophisticated, busy buyers.
Clear dialogue and strong cross-functional collaboration – able to work effectively with Sales, Marketing, Product, and Strategy, especially in fast-moving cycles.
Curiosity and judgment about AI in technical and legal workflows, including how AI is changing patent practice.
Bonus: USPTO registration; familiarity with patent databases and IP workflows; prior GTM, business development, or client-facing experience.

About the Role
Patent attorneys are among the most analytically demanding users you'll ever design for. Their workflows are high-stakes, deeply nuanced, and largely unchanged for decades, until now. You're the person who makes AI feel intuitive, trustworthy, and indispensable in their hands.
You won't be pushing pixels in isolation. You'll be embedded with the customers who use Patlytics every day: litigators building claim charts under deadline pressure, prosecution teams managing sprawling portfolios, IP strategists making million-dollar decisions on prior art. Your job is to understand how they think, where they struggle, and what "better" actually looks like in their world, then design the experiences that get them there.
This is a role for a designer obsessed with how people actually use products, not just how they look. You're drawn to the messy, human side of design: the research sessions that upend your assumptions, the deployments that break in ways you didn't anticipate, the moment a skeptical user says "this actually works." You'll do that here full-time, at the frontier of AI, in one of law's most consequential domains.
What You'll Do
Design end-to-end experiences: Own Patlytics' core workflows, including patent search, claim charting, portfolio analysis, prosecution, and litigation support. Every interaction should help users leverage AI with confidence and clarity.
Be the voice of the customer: Conduct user research directly with patent attorneys, IP counsel, and legal operations teams. Sit in on deployments. Watch real usage. Let what you learn reshape what you build.
Make AI legible: Design interfaces that surface AI-generated insights (prior art results, claim mappings, portfolio analytics) in ways that are transparent, verifiable, and actionable. Help users understand what the AI did, why, and how to act on it.
Stay at the forefront of AI interaction design: Keep up with the latest in LLM-powered interfaces, retrieval-augmented generation, agentic workflows, and emerging patterns for human-AI collaboration, then bring those ideas into the product.
Own the full lifecycle: Drive design from early discovery and concept exploration through high-fidelity prototyping, usability testing, and post-launch iteration. Own the quality of the shipped experience, not just the mockup.
Create scalable systems: Build design patterns that bring consistency across a rapidly expanding product surface while staying flexible for the specialized needs of different IP workflows.
What You Need
6+ years of product design experience, with a strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end ownership of complex, workflow-heavy products, ideally in B2B SaaS, legal tech, professional services, or enterprise tools for expert users.
Proven ability to design for AI-powered products. You understand the unique UX challenges of LLM-based systems (handling uncertainty, surfacing confidence, designing for variable outputs, managing user trust) and you've shipped solutions that address them.
Precise communication that adjusts for audience, whether you're walking an attorney through a prototype, aligning with a PM on scope, or presenting a design rationale to leadership.
Extreme ownership. You drive projects to completion without waiting for direction, close feedback loops proactively, and hold yourself accountable for the experience customers actually have, not just the one you designed on paper.
Nice-to-Haves
Direct experience with vertical AI / LLM products or agent-based systems.
Experience in a startup or early-stage environment where you built process from scratch.
Familiarity with the patent lifecycle: prosecution, litigation, portfolio management, search and analytics.
Don't check every box? We'd still love to hear from you. Many exceptional candidates don't meet every requirement on paper, and some of the best hires far exceed them.
Why Patlytics
