Company Mission
Photon gives patients ownership of prescriptions. Our platform enables clinicians to send prescriptions to patients via text, which saves them time by allowing their patients to shop between pharmacies. The vision is to help consumers save money by increasing transparency.
Who We’re Looking For
You've built people systems, processes, and ideally a whole function from scratch before — not just run one you inherited. But your instincts don't stop at HR: you think in systems generally, and you've done real systems and process work across a business, not just within a people team. You'd rather write a script or prototype a tool than manage another spreadsheet. You bring genuinely unconventional thinking about people and systems: you're not here to replay a playbook from somewhere else, and you're comfortable questioning whether the standard approach is even right for a company like Photon.
You start as an individual contributor, hands-on in the work itself, and you're motivated by the prospect of building the function — and eventually leading a team — rather than being handed one. You play long-term games: this function will look very different at 150 people than it does today, and you're as comfortable holding that longer-term vision as you are executing whatever the current stage actually requires.
Every person at Photon is responsible for the culture and vibe we've built here — but you're the one enabling it through systems. Photon should feel as good to work at 80 people as it does at 20, and that doesn't happen by accident at scale; it happens because someone designed for it. And in a moment when plenty of companies are focused on standing up and managing AI agents, your job is the opposite bet and just as important: making sure the humans at Photon are set up to do their best work, with the right systems, tools, and support around them.
Core Responsibilities
- Partner with the executive team on company-wide planning and priorities, bringing a people-and-systems lens to decisions beyond HR
- Build and own the full system for how Photon finds, evaluates, and closes talent — shaping how the company is perceived and experienced by candidates from first touch through offer
- Own the company's internal tool stack and AI operating system — what tools exist, what's enforced, what gets built, bought, or retired
- Own budgeting and forecasting for people programs, internal tooling, and team activities
- Own the rituals and cadence that bring the team together as it grows — from regular team moments to how the company comes together for bigger milestones
- Own onboarding and offboarding, and the overall day-to-day experience of working at Photon
- Design and evolve Photon’s approach to feedback and performance as the company grows — rather than importing a traditional review cycle by default
- Own comp and benefits administration, including plan selection, and leveling execution in partnership with the COO
- Own HR compliance across the states Photon operates in
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years building or running a people function, including experience building one substantially from scratch
- Demonstrated ownership of full-cycle recruiting, not just process administration
- Real, hands-on IT/systems fluency: tool selection and consolidation, access provisioning, internal automation
- Experience operating without established process, and building it as you go, ideally at a company under ~100 people
- A track record or clear point of view on developing people so they grow and stay, not just onboard and get managed
- Able to work in-office in NYC at least 3 days a week
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building internal tools yourself, whether through scripting, automation, or no-code/AI-assisted platforms
- Background in healthcare or health-tech
- Prior experience partnering closely with a CEO/COO on company-wide planning or rhythm of business
- Experience building teams and systems and doing hard operational work outside of a straight HR career path or a traditional startup environment — evidence you can build under real constraints, not just in a familiar playbook
Why Join Us
Photon is reimagining how prescriptions move through the healthcare system—making it simpler, faster, and more transparent for patients, providers, and pharmacies alike. You’ll:
- Own human systems at a company at a real inflection point — post-Series A — and define how the org scales from here
- Work on a problem almost everyone you know has experienced, and help fix a system that's broken in ways most people just accept
- Take on hard problems, with the growth and impact to match — we expect a lot, and we mean it
- Join a team that gives a shit — about the work, about each other, and about doing things the right way. High trust, high standards, and people who actually like spending time together

Company Mission
Photon gives patients ownership of prescriptions. Our platform enables clinicians to send prescriptions to patients via text, which saves them time by allowing their patients to shop between pharmacies. The vision is to help consumers save money by increasing transparency.
Who We’re Looking For
We're looking for a Head of Engineering to scale our engineering organization at Photon. This is the top technical leadership role. You'll be accountable for engineering across the platform: patient experience, customer integrations, the infrastructure that connects prescribers, patients, and pharmacies. You'll set technical direction, grow and develop a team, and own how we build across the org.
You'll work as part of the leadership team, partnering with the CEO, Product, Design, Commercial, and Ops to decide what we build, how fast, and at what cost. You'll be responsible for the things that don't show up in a single sprint: org structure, technical strategy, the bar for talent, and the reliability of infrastructure that millions of patients depend on.
If you've scaled engineering teams in a complex space, you can set direction without waiting to be told what to do, and you want ownership of a function at a real inflection point, this role is for you.
Core Responsibilities
- Own the engineering organization from structure, prioritization, and how teams are organized across patient experience, integrations, platform, and internal systems
- Set and drive technical strategy and architecture direction in close partnership with Product
- Build the leadership layer: hire, develop, and manage engineering managers and senior engineers, and raise the bar on the talent we bring in and keep
- Own execution and delivery across the full product surface, with clear priorities, strong alignment, and consistent shipping
- Own engineering's operational health: reliability, uptime, on-call, and incident response for prescribing infrastructure that can't go down quietly
- Own the security, privacy, and compliance posture of engineering in partnership with the relevant teams (HIPAA and beyond)
- Partner with the CEO and leadership team on company strategy, roadmap, and the hard tradeoffs
- Build and steward a strong engineering culture rooted in ownership, accountability, and high standards
- Manage engineering tooling decisions and key technical vendor relationships
- Represent engineering to the board, investors, and partners when it matters
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of software engineering experience, with 4+ years leading engineering teams – including managing managers or owning a full engineering function
- Strong track record of building and scaling engineering teams at early or growth stage
- Experience owning technical strategy and architecture for a meaningful product or platform
- Familiarity with APIs, integrations, marketplaces, or distributed systems at scale
- Proven delivery across multiple teams or a full product surface area
- Ability to create clarity in ambiguous environments – across priorities, ownership, and decision-making
- Experience working closely with Product, Commercial, and Ops at a leadership level in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to address difficult situations directly and represent engineering to executives, the board, and partners
- Experience leveraging AI in engineering workflows or products
- Hands-on enough to stay technically credible and dive in when the situation calls for it
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in healthcare, fintech, or other complex, regulated environments
- Experience building or owning infrastructure platforms
- Familiarity with compliance frameworks (HIPAA, SOC 2)

Location: Brooklyn, NYC (3 days in-office) – Remote considered for exceptional candidates
Team: Sales (Reporting to Head of Sales)
Company Mission
Photon gives patients ownership of prescriptions. Our platform enables clinicians to send prescriptions to patients via text, which saves them time by allowing their patients to shop between pharmacies. The vision is to help consumers save money by increasing transparency. We recently secured $16M in funding during our Series A round to accelerate growth and expand our impact.
Who We're Looking For
We're looking for a seasoned health system seller - someone who has spent years navigating the complexity of hospital and integrated delivery network sales and knows that winning in this segment requires patience, precision, and genuine expertise. You understand how health systems evaluate technology, who the real decision-makers are, how IT governance works alongside clinical and operational leadership, and what it takes to close an enterprise deal with a 6-12 month cycle. You know that the stakeholder map spans pharmacy, clinical informatics, IT, and ambulatory clinical leaders, and that winning requires threading all of them.
This is a full-cycle role. You'll source your own pipeline, manage long and complex stakeholder maps, and carry deals from cold outreach to signed contract. The long sales cycles don’t phase you because you are inherently self-motivated and deeply believe i your ability to achieve what others deem improbable. You're comfortable in ambiguity, motivated by building something from scratch, and energized by the idea that what you close today directly shapes the company's trajectory. We’ll teach you Photon's product and value proposition, but you know how to sell to health systems better than we do. Epic fluency and experience selling into Epic-based environments is essential.
You'll report to the Head of Sales and work as part of a small, high-trust commercial team where everyone is expected to run their book of business like a pro.
Core Responsibilities
- Close deals while owning the full sales cycle for Epic-based health systems, from target identification and cold outreach through business case development, technical scoping, procurement, contract negotiation, signature, and go-live
- Self-generate and manage your own pipeline while running a disciplined outbound motion alongside relationship-driven sourcing
- Navigate complex stakeholder environments spanning pharmacy leadership, clinical informatics, IT, ambulatory clinical leaders, and C-suite sponsors while building multi-threaded relationships that keep deals moving across a long sales sales cycle
- Speak the language of our buyers while demonstrating tech literacy in conversations about pharmacy economics, Epic integration, and the workflow and patient experience implications of modernizing prescription networks - you will have technical resources to support deep dives
- Maintain CRM hygiene and accurate forecasting so the business can plan around your pipeline and board-level commitments reflect reality
- Feed intelligence back to the team by relaying what you learn about competitive dynamics, procurement patterns, and buyer priorities to sharpen positioning and product strategy
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of full-cycle enterprise sales experience selling directly into hospitals and integrated delivery networks (IDNs)
- Demonstrated success closing complex, multi-stakeholder deals with 6–12 month sales cycles
- Deep familiarity with Epic and comfortable in conversations about Epic integrations, app ecosystem, and clinical workflow implications
- Experience navigating health system governance structures including IT steering committees, clinical informatics, ambulatory clinical leadership, and C-suite decision-making
- Proven ability to self-generate pipeline without SDR support
- Based in or willing to relocate to the NYC metro area; able to work from our Williamsburg office 3+ days per week; remote considered for exceptional candidates
- Willingness to travel regularly for customer site visits and industry conferences
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience selling prescribing, pharmacy technology, clinical decision support, or healthcare interoperability solutions
- Existing relationships with pharmacy leadership, clinical informatics, ambulatory clinical leaders, or executives at health systems
- Experience displacing a deeply embedded incumbent or legacy vendor in a regulated clinical environment - you understand how to make the case for change when switching costs are real
- Experience working in an early-stage company where you've helped improve an initial sales process and playbook, not just execute within one
Why Join Us
Photon is building the modern prescription network and health systems are a critical part of that vision. You'll be working at the intersection of clinical workflow, pharmacy strategy, and healthcare infrastructure at a company that has already demonstrated traction with health system customers. This is a rare opportunity to own a segment, build relationships that last decades, and be part of a team that genuinely believes the status quo in prescription technology is broken and knows how to fix it.

The vision is to help consumers save money by increasing transparency. We recently secured $16M in funding during our Series A round to accelerate growth and expand our impact.
Who We're Looking For
We're looking for an experienced enterprise seller who knows the scaled digital health landscape - the companies, the buyers, the procurement cycles, and how to get deals across the line in a market facing rapid change. You've sold into mid-market and enterprise digital health companies across multiple business models and you know how to navigate multi-stakeholder sales processes where clinical leadership, clinical operations, product teams, and technical leaders all have a seat at the table.
This is a full-cycle role. You'll source your own pipeline, run your own process, and close your own deals. You thrive in that model because you are an inherently self-motivated individual who builds genuine relationships, creates opportunities others miss, and believes deeply in the art of the possible. You're comfortable in ambiguity, motivated by building something from scratch, and energized by the idea that what you close today directly shapes the company's trajectory.
You'll report to the Head of Sales and work as part of a small, high-trust commercial team where everyone is expected to run their book of business like a pro.
Core Responsibilities
- Close deals while owning the full sales cycle from prospecting and discovery through contract and close for scaled digital health companies; this is a full-cycle role with no SDR support
- Run a disciplined sales process that surfaces real pain, builds multi-threaded stakeholder relationships, and creates urgency without manufacturing it
- Serve as a category educator in conversations with clinical leadership, clinical operations, and product buyers who may be unfamiliar with modern e-prescribing infrastructure — and hold your own when technical leaders are in the room
- Maintain CRM hygiene and forecasting accuracy so the business can plan around your pipeline with confidence
- Provide market feedback by relaying what you hear from prospects to inform product roadmap, positioning, and competitive strategy
- Support existing customers as needed, specifically during your ramp period to help you learn the product and value propositions of Photon
Required Qualifications
- 4+ years of full-cycle enterprise SaaS sales experience, including consistent quota attainment
- Demonstrated experience selling into scaled digital health companies (telehealth, digital therapeutics, virtual care, or adjacent verticals)
- Proven ability to self-source pipeline - you've owned your own outbound motion and don't rely on SDR support
- Experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder deals with 3–6 month sales cycles, including navigating clinical, product, and operations stakeholders
- Based in or willing to relocate to the NYC metro area; able to work from our Williamsburg office 3+ days per week; remote considered for exceptional candidates
- Willingness to travel to industry conferences and for on-site customer meetings
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience selling healthcare interoperability, prescribing, pharmacy, or clinical workflow solutions
- Existing network within scaled digital health companies at the clinical leadership, VP of Product, or C-level
- Familiarity with how digital health companies integrate third-party clinical infrastructure and the procurement and technical processes that govern those decisions
- Experience displacing a deeply embedded incumbent or legacy vendor - you've won deals where the status quo had structural advantages
- Experience working in an early-stage or Series A/B company where the initial process and playbook are still being refined
Why Join Us
Photon is reimagining how prescriptions move through the healthcare system — making it simpler, faster, and more transparent for patients, providers, and pharmacies alike. You'll join at a pivotal moment, with a proven product, a growing roster of health system and digital health customers, and a team that takes both the mission and the craft seriously. You'll have real ownership over your segment, a voice in how the commercial motion evolves, and the kind of upside that only comes from getting in early.

Who We’re Looking For
We’re looking for an Engineering Manager to lead and scale our engineering team across Photon.
This is a high-impact, cross-cutting role responsible for people management, execution, and team effectiveness across engineering—from patient experience to customer integrations and internal systems. You’ll work closely with the CTO to ensure we’re building the right things, while also improving how teams operate: increasing clarity, alignment, and consistency as we scale.
You’ll play a key role in developing engineers, strengthening team performance, and identifying where structure, ownership, or processes need to evolve. This includes addressing challenges directly, improving how teams work together, and ensuring the organization is set up to operate effectively.
If you’re excited about building strong teams, improving how work gets done, and shipping meaningful products in a complex space like healthcare, this role is for you.
Core Responsibilities
