We believe that the way people interact with their finances will drastically improve in the next few years. We’re dedicated to empowering this transformation by building the tools and experiences that thousands of developers use to create their own products. Plaid powers the tools millions of people rely on to live a healthier financial life. We work with thousands of companies like Venmo, SoFi, several of the Fortune 500, and many of the largest banks to make it easy for people to connect their financial accounts to the apps and services they want to use. Plaid’s network covers 12,000 financial institutions across the US, Canada, UK and Europe. Founded in 2013, the company is headquartered in San Francisco with offices in New York, Washington D.C., London and Amsterdam.
Plaid Protect is a real-time fraud intelligence product built on a unique advantage: Plaid’s network-level visibility across bank accounts, devices, identities, sessions, institutions, applications, and financial behavior. Protect helps customers detect first-party fraud, synthetic identities, account takeovers, and coordinated attacks that are difficult to see from a single application, account, or transaction.
Trust Index turns that fraud intelligence into real-time fraud scores and actionable attributes. This team builds the systems that make this intelligence possible: low-latency inference, new data and model integrations, customer-facing APIs and attributes, safe rollouts, and feedback loops.
Ti3 expanded Plaid’s fraud graph nearly 10x and, in early testing, detected up to 41% more fraud at the same false-positive rate. Learn more about Ti2 https://plaid.com/blog/plaid-protect-trust-index/ and Ti3 https://plaid.com/blog/introducing-trust-index-3-fraud-detection/.
We are a small, high-agency team working closely with Product, Data Science, and Machine Learning. We value demos over docs, conviction over consensus/alignment, builder schedule over meeting-heavy calendars. We’re scrappy and a talent-dense team that has high agency and high ownership.
As a Staff Software Engineer on the Protect Core team, you will set the technical direction for the systems that serve Trust Index scores and fraud attributes in real time. You will lead ambiguous, multi-quarter initiatives while staying hands-on in architecture, critical production code, data investigation, and production debugging.
You will work closely with DSML teams, product, and fraud researchers to identify opportunities for new fraud signals and product expansions. You will shorten the path from a promising fraud insight to measurable customer value. You will iterate on Protect, from API changes to new integration modes and product modules.
This role is best suited to a hands-on builder who enjoys fast feedback loops, direct debate, and making principled tradeoffs between rapid experimentation and durable systems.
This role is not for engineers who prefer long-lead design specs, consensus-driven committee decisions, or 'process-heavy' environments. We prioritize shipping over alignment, and we expect you to push back when the process gets in the way of building.
Responsibilities:
- Care deeply about the product and the value you create for our customers.
- Learn how customers use our product and the specific fraud challenges they face; build solutions to address them.
- Identify new frontiers in fraud detection, build focused prototypes to test the riskiest assumptions, and turn validated ideas into reliable production systems.
- Collaborate closely with the DS/ML team. Better yet, navigate our data landscape, run Jupyter notebooks and Spark jobs, or develop in Tecton to deliver business impact independently.
- Lead the team by example on AI assisted engineering: write skills and linters, automate things, push code in unfamiliar languages, systems and repos.
- Raise the technical bar through mentorship, design reviews, and hands-on leadership across the organization.
Qualifications:
- Extensive experience, typically 8+ years, building and operating backend or distributed systems at scale.
- Must be comfortable working hands-on directly in the codebase. This is a builder archetype position; the individual will spend considerable time designing and building the actual system they work on.
- Strong product judgment: the ability to translate ambiguous customer problems into deliverables, make principled tradeoffs between rapid validation and durable architecture, and define measurable outcomes.
- [Nice to have] Strong opinions, conviction, and good product taste.
- [Nice to have] Previous experience building data and/or API products.
- [Nice to have] Prior experience in the fraud domain
- [Nice to have] Prior experience in or interest in building agentic systems.
Our mission at Plaid is to unlock financial freedom for everyone. To support that mission, we seek to build a diverse team of driven individuals who care deeply about making the financial ecosystem more equitable. We recognize that strong qualifications can come from both prior work experiences and lived experiences. We encourage you to apply to a role even if your experience doesn't fully match the job description. We are always looking for team members that will bring something unique to Plaid!

You will partner with our Product, Data Science, and Machine Learning team to iterate on and productionize new insights that enable our customers to make more holistic lending decisions.
Responsibilities:
- Leading technical architecture and execution across credit insights products: everything from data fetching and online feature serving for API requests, to offline production pipelines and tooling for model training.
- Scaling and evolving the architecture through an expected ~100x increase in load from deterministic factors
- Collaborating closely with Product, Data Science, and Machine Learning partners to develop and scale insights products that enable Credit underwriting use cases
- Mentoring engineers and contributing to a strong, inclusive team culture.
Qualifications:
- Strong experience building and scaling backend products
- Strong technical leadership skills, including mentoring peers, leading projects and driving architectural decisions

You'll join as our first dedicated video and audio producer, reporting to our incoming Content Lead. You'll jump in immediately to produce Intelligent Finance, our flagship podcast and video series hosted by CEO and co-founder Zach Perret, already in production, so you'll pick up the reins without a long ramp-up period. Responsibilities:
- Immediately step in to produce Intelligent Finance, our already-underway podcast and video series, with no ramp-up period.

- Ability to operate independently, move quickly, and step into an already-live production with no ramp-up period.
- Ideally, a B2B or fintech background and prior experience producing a podcast.
- Nice to have: experience developing a show or content franchise around an executive or founder host.

Our Fraud Intelligence team's mission is to turn fraud signals into insight that our EPD teams transform into improvements across Protect, IDV, Signal, and Guaranteed Payments. We believe transaction patterns, device signals, identity linkages, and behavioral data are dramatically underleveraged tools in fraud prevention, and we ground our products in what adversaries are actually doing right now.
As the Fraud Intelligence Lead, you will build and run a small, high-leverage team of Fraud Intelligence Analysts (and eventually a Staff Researcher) responsible for live casework across Protect, IDV, and Payments/ACH. You'll operate as a player-coach, hiring and coaching your team while staying close enough to the work to personally pick up casework and SEV response when needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Team Building & People Leadership
- Set the casework quality bar: define what rigorous investigation, triage, and reporting look like for the team
- Coach analysts on investigation technique, pattern synthesis, and translating findings into product/model input
Operating Model & Cross-PA Partnership
- Own coverage allocation across the Protect/IDV and Payments/ACH pods, including flexing assignments as volume shifts
- Manage matrixed staffing and time allocation clearly between the Fraud PA and Payments PA
- Represent the Fraud Intelligence team in product and model roadmap discussions, translating casework patterns into strategic priorities
Reporting & Escalation
- Report team health, casework trends, and emerging risks to the Head of Fraud
- Own escalation paths for SEVs and incidents requiring legal, law enforcement, or regulatory involvement
Live Fraud Investigation & Reconstruction
- Lead investigations into complex fraud cases across identities, accounts, devices, and transaction surfaces
- Provide support to day-to-day fraud operations including SEVs and alert triage
- Reconstruct attacker sequences and hypothesize actor intent and tooling
- Distill patterns from noisy signals into clear narratives and actionable insights
- Bridge investigation outcomes to product and model improvements
Product & Model Partnership
- Collaborate with Data Science, ML/AI, and Product teams to improve labeling, feature sets, evaluation frameworks, and model decay monitoring
- Surface data quality limitations and systematically formalize missing features
- Translate exploratory research into reusable feature pipelines, model inputs, or rule augmentations
- Participate in product discovery, roadmap planning, and post-launch evaluation to ensure fraud-awareness by design
Ecosystem Monitoring & Knowledge Leadership
- Continuously survey external fraud trends, adversary techniques, tooling, and emerging threat vectors
- Proactively perform threat modeling of abuse surfaces and initiate research proposals when patterns emerge
QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of applied fraud experience in a high-velocity environment (fintech, consumer payments, banking, SaaS, marketplace risk, or security research)
- Investigator mindset: pattern synthesis, hypothesis testing, and skilled triage between signal and noise
- End-to-end investigation experience reconstructing attacker intent and behavior in multi-step attack sequences across accounts, devices, and identities
- Post-containment incident response experience with a deep emphasis on post-mortems and root cause analysis
- Dark and grey-web navigation and investigation experience; ability to assess source credibility and translate external intelligence into actionable insights
- Strong communication: ability to explain complex, ambiguous behavior to technical and non-technical audiences
- Tool fluency with data environments and investigative toolchains (BI tools, anomaly detection, case trackers)
- SQL for deep data querying and exploratory analysis
- Python for scripting, rapid prototyping, and analytical workflows
PREFERRED:
- Graph/network analysis experience to detect linked behavioral structures or actor networks
- Familiarity with rule engines, signal gating, and large-scale monitoring systems
- Experience applying AI tools and agents to accelerate investigations and research workflows
- Ability to translate fraud research into actionable signals, rules, or labeled datasets that improve model performance
NICE TO HAVE
- Fraud domain certifications (e.g., CFE)
- Prior work on consumer identity, payments, or risk platform development
- Exposure to production ML model lifecycles and metrics for drift/decay
- Experience improving internal fraud tooling, automation, or case management systems

We’re dedicated to empowering this transformation by building the tools and experiences that thousands of developers use to create their own products. Plaid powers the tools millions of people rely on to live a healthier financial life. Plaid’s network covers 12,000 financial institutions across the US, Canada, UK and Europe. Founded in 2013, the company is headquartered in San Francisco with offices in New York, Washington D.C., London and Amsterdam.
ABOUT THE TEAM
Plaid’s Fintech Sales team is responsible for our relationships with some of the most important and fastest-growing companies in financial services. Many of these companies have long-standing relationships with Plaid, and this team’s mandate is to deepen those partnerships — expanding product adoption, enabling customer growth, and ensuring Plaid remains the infrastructure provider of choice as these customers scale.
ABOUT THE ROLE
You will lead an established, high-performing team of Territory Account Executives who manage Plaid’s fast-growing fintech accounts. This is not a greenfield build — it’s a team with real momentum, strong customer relationships, and meaningful revenue. The opportunity is to raise the bar further: strengthen Plaid’s market-leading position in fintech by driving deeper product adoption across existing accounts, winning strategic new logos, and developing the AEs on your team into consistently elite performers.
The primary motion is new logo acquisition. The majority of your AEs’ accounts don’t yet use Plaid — the job is to secure those new logos and grow existing relationships through new products, new use cases, and new business units. You’ll be in deals with your team as a coach and escalation point, helping AEs navigate multi-stakeholder cycles from technical champion to economic buyer, without taking ownership away from them.
RESPONSIBILITIES
•Manage a team of 5–7 Territory Account Executives focused on Plaid’s fintech accounts, driving growth through expansion of existing relationships and competitive new logo acquisition.
•Coach AEs to identify and drive expansion opportunities proactively — new products, new use cases, new business units — rather than waiting for inbound signals.
•Build and refine the account strategy for Plaid’s fintech customers alongside your AEs, including executive value messaging, pitch positioning, and coordinated go-to-market efforts with Marketing.
•Grow existing accounts by driving multi-product adoption and deepening executive-level relationships.
•Attain consumption-based revenue targets through a disciplined, data-driven pipeline operating rhythm.
•Develop your team through structured 1:1s, deal reviews, and skill-specific coaching that closes the gap between strong performers and elite ones.
•Maintain a high recruiting bar — assess and close exceptional AE talent as the team grows, selecting for people who are self-starters and thrive in a fast-moving environment.
•Manage performance with transparency — set clear expectations, act early when someone isn’t tracking, and make tough calls when necessary.
•Collaborate closely with Marketing, Product, Account Management, Legal, and Commercial teams to maintain a consistently high win rate and remove friction from deal cycles.
•Engage directly in strategic deals as a coach and escalation point, while ensuring your AEs retain ownership and develop their own executive-level selling capabilities.
QUALIFICATIONS
• 10+ years of sales experience in B2B SaaS or platform/infrastructure sales, with meaningful exposure to fintech, payments, or financial services.
•5+ years of frontline sales management experience leading teams of quota-carrying AEs.
• Demonstrated track record of coaching account executives to close and grow accounts in the $100K–$500K+ ARR range, with specific experience in net-new logo acquisition.
•Strong data discipline — you use pipeline and forecast data to influence the actions your team takes, not just report what happened.
•Proven ability to operate cross-functionally, influencing product, legal, and marketing without positional authority.
•Outstanding communication and executive presence, with experience managing the sales cycle from technical champion to C-suite economic buyer.
•A coaching-first leadership style — you develop your people through the deals, not by taking the deals away from them.
NICE TO HAVE
• Experience selling API-first or developer-focused products.
• Familiarity with consumption-based or usage-based pricing models.
• Background in open banking, identity verification, payments, or adjacent fintech infra

The design team at Plaid is made up of product designers, researchers, and content strategists who work with our cross-functional partners to create Plaid’s products. Please visit https://designedbyplaid.com/ to learn more about the Design team.
The Consumer team at Plaid builds and owns the key consumer touchpoints from Plaid: Plaid Link and our future direct to consumer experiences. Plaid Link is the embedded UX that all of Plaid’s customers integrate in order to securely have their end-users share their bank data via Plaid, and Plaid’s core business is built on consumer trust and confidence in that platform. It’s this team’s responsibility to build on the success of the existing platform to keep innovating and delivering high quality consumer experiences that unlock financial freedom for users leveraging Plaid’s products.
We're looking for an experienced Product Designer to own the design of Plaid’s consumer experiences. This is novel scope: a first-party, direct-to-consumer product inside a company most people know only through other companies' apps. You'll be the sole designer on a small, senior team, partnering closely with one PM and one engineering lead (as well as a nimble team of IC engineers). Your pod is also part of the larger Consumer team, and you’ll get to work across it on other projects too. You'll set the quality bar for the surface and take work from ambiguous problem to shipped, polished detail. We care a great deal about craft here — this is the product where Plaid's brand is judged directly by consumers, so the details are the substance, not the finish. We also work fast, and we expect the person in this role to have already made agentic development a real part of how they design and build.
Responsibilities:
- Own consumer surface design end to end, from problem definition through pixel-level polish
- Set and hold the visual and interaction quality bar for Plaid's consumer product
- Partner directly with product and engineering from planning through execution, shaping what gets built
- Build working prototypes — including with AI agents — to test ideas before committing engineering time
- Produce high-quality work from wireframes and user flows to pixel-perfect prototypes with delightful interactions
- Advocate for consumers and for user-centered process across the team
- Contribute to design culture through collaboration, presenting work, and sharing feedback
Qualifications:
- 4+ years creating and shipping quality digital products, with consumer experience across mobile and web
- Exceptional visual and interaction craft — you can build nearly anything yourself, and the details are right
- You've genuinely integrated AI agents into how you design and build, and can speak to what that changed
- Strong verbal and visual presentation skills and an articulate point of view about design
- A proven record of influencing team direction and planning, and of tying design to business goals and metrics
- Nice to have: you ship your own code, or have worked as a design engineer
