We are seeking a driven and versatile Senior Hardware Test and Reliability Engineer to help drive safety and reliability initiatives, develop and execute test plans that enable rapid design iteration and robust product validation for state-of-the-art autonomous flying machines servicing a broad range of enterprise, public safety, and defense applications.
How you will make an impact:
Work with product development, embedded software, quality, manufacturing, and suppliers to define and execute comprehensive test strategies from early prototyping stages through volume production, enabling earliest possible discovery of failure modes for complex electro-mechanical autonomous systems
Lead technical test strategy and own validation planning, execution and risk management from early prototypes through volume production
Collaborate with electrical, mechanical and software engineering teams to perform failure analysis, identify root cause, implement corrective actions, resolve system issues, and help develop process/design mitigations
Contribute to design reviews and provide key design for reliability inputs to mitigate risks from first prototypes to first customer shipment and beyond
A keen interest in contributing across multiple domains to make Skydio products the default choice for users in challenging environments
Immerse yourself in massive data sets from developmental flight telemetry and robust customer analytics to identify problems before they occur, perform risk assessments, develop prognostic and conditioned based maintenance protocols, and anchor our reliability test specs firmly data
Useful skills and experience:
Deep curiosity with 6+ years experience hands-on testing, development and delivery of highly reliable complex electro-mechanical systems with an emphasis on high density PCBA test engineering and debug
Proven experience leading technical validation programs end-to-end, with accountability for test strategy, execution quality, and overall system readiness
Strong robotics testing experience coupled with good mechanical intuition desired to rapidly drive failure analysis
Extensive knowledge of the physics of failure and integration risks of one or more critical electronics and mechanical subsystems such as compute systems, electro-mechanical or electronic sensors
Proficient in Python and/or SQL and how to best harness AI models to maximize efficiency and minimize hallucinations analyzing large datasets or scripting efficient automated testing; uncovering correlations and trends between our drones, their operational environments, and diverse use cases
A passion for communicating the nuances of hardware reliability to internal and external cross functional teams to help drive organizational priorities
Certifications:

Compensation: At Skydio, our compensation packages for regular, full-time employees include competitive base salaries, equity in the form of stock options, and comprehensive benefits packages. The annual base salary range for this position is $170,000 - $230,000*. About the role:
Skydio is looking for a highly skilled Senior 3D Generalist to join our Brand Creative team for a full-time, three-month contract. This role will support the development of product imagery, illustrations, animations, and interactive 3D assets for our annual user conference keynote and other high-priority brand and product-launch initiatives. You will report to the Senior 3D Art Director and Creative Director and collaborate closely with designers, animators, product marketers, engineers, and other cross-functional partners. This is a hands-on production role for someone who can take projects from prepared product CAD through final, polished visual deliverables. You should be equally comfortable cleaning and preparing complex product geometry, building physically accurate materials, lighting photorealistic scenes, animating product features, compositing final imagery, and optimizing assets for real-time web experiences.

Work from engineering and industrial-design CAD models to create production-ready visualization assets in Blender.
Prepare complex CAD-derived geometry through tessellation, topology cleanup, normal correction, mesh organization, material separation, UV creation, and scene optimization.
Preserve the accuracy, construction, proportions, materials, and fit and finish of Skydio hardware throughout the visualization process.
Build realistic, physically based materials using Blender and Adobe Substance 3D Painter.
Create studio-quality lighting that accurately communicates product form, surface finish, scale, and industrial-design details.
Produce both clean studio imagery and environmental or conceptual scenes showing Skydio products in use.
Create product animations that demonstrate assembly, operation, movement, workflows, features, and product interactions.

How you will make an impact:
Be a highly collaborative, requirements driven planner with a deep sense of ownership and accountability with a willingness to roll up sleeves and dive into the details.
Plan and design end-to-end project deployment and integration activities to ensure the successful launch of our platform and ensure operational success. Manage production and implementation programs against cost, schedule and technical requirements.
Understand customer requirements and translate them to Skydio’s agile product and technical teams to drive development and delivery execution.
Establish relationships with the Law Enforcement customer and be technical to build & drive plans with Skydio’s engineering team’s to meet milestones.
Inform Skydio and customer business and program leaders regarding contract management risks and opportunities, ensuring a coordinated and comprehensive approach to product delivery across the program.
General support of go-to-market & business activities as required.
What Makes You A Good Fit:
Experience as a customer-facing professional services / program manager, or in a similar high-tier complex and multifaceted role preferably for law enforcement agencies.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including interaction with senior leaders and a strong focus on project management tools and concepts.
Proven track record of implementing new technology, agile development and interfacing with technical teams to deliver on customer schedules.
Experience in implementing effective internal business systems, processes and controls (hardware, software, operations) for management of large scale customer projects in the Law Enforcement field
Experience with Law Enforcement and commercial Unmanned Aircraft Systems and related software development.
Law Enforcement/Federal Program Management experience, to include: Technology Assessments, Systems Design, Systems Analysis, Programmatic Support, Acquisition Planning, and Budget Planning.
Outstanding analytical thinker and problem solver, comfortable working in data analytics and able to resolve complex problems independently. Thinking ‘out of the box’ and to develop creative solutions
Obtaining FAA Part 107 certification within the first 60 days of employment is strongly encouraged for all Skydio employees and required for certain positions.
Compensation: At Skydio, our compensation packages for regular, full-time employees include competitive base salaries, equity in the form of stock options, and comprehensive benefits packages. Compensation will vary based on factors, including skill level, proficiencies, transferable knowledge, and experience. Relocation assistance may also be provided for eligible roles. The annual base salary range for this position is $145,000 - $180,000*.
