ABOUT SPHERE
Every breakthrough in trade infrastructure has followed the same pattern: reduce a transaction cost, expand the market. Containerization for goods. SWIFT for money. Stripe for payments. Compliance is one of the last and largest — and the hardest, because trade rules aren't data to be looked up. They're a complex adaptive system with 190+ sovereign jurisdictions, in different languages, changing constantly, reacting to each other.
Sphere built the system that solves it. Our AI (TRAM) ingests global trade law, interprets it, resolves conflicts across jurisdictions, and produces compliance determinations more reliable than human experts. We handle the entire lifecycle — calculation, registration, filing, remittance — at millisecond latency with zero downtime.
- Backed by a16z and YC. $21M Series A, 30%+ month-over-month growth, customers include ElevenLabs, Replit, Deel, Runway, and Lovable.
- Small team, global surface area. Everyone owns a domain that would be a full team at a larger company. San Francisco, five days in office.
- The problem keeps compounding. Expanding into input tax, withholding, e-invoicing, tariffs — each multiplies the complexity. Tens of millions of transactions today, billions ahead.
THE ROLE
You'll own Sphere's visual voice. That means shooting and editing polished content about what we're building—product releases, company updates, thought leadership—content that lands on LinkedIn, our website, and in GTM campaigns. This isn't TikTok energy or e-commerce product shots. It's clean, intentional, proof-of-work storytelling.
You'll shoot, edit, and design. Grade footage. Build basic animations. Create static assets for organic posts and paid campaigns. You'll see a brief, figure out the shot, execute it cleanly, and move on. You'll work three days in our San Francisco office where you can collaborate directly on creative direction and see rough cuts early. You'll also travel to key industry conferences—both to capture content and to be part of Sphere's presence in the market.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Within weeks
- Shoot and edit company announcement videos and product demos
- Create motion graphics and lower thirds for LinkedIn and website content
- Design static assets for organic social and paid advertising
- Work with the team on brand continuity across all visual output
Within months
- Own Sphere's video content calendar and creative direction
- Travel to conferences/events to shoot behind-the-scenes, interviews, and event coverage
- Build a library of reusable motion templates and design systems
- Develop efficient workflows that let one person move at startup pace
- Collaborate with founding team on strategic content around product launches and company milestones
REQUIREMENTS
- 2+ years of experience in videography, editing, or motion design (agency, in-house brand, or freelance)
- Mastery of camera fundamentals: aperture, ISO, shutter speed, lenses, lighting, and audio recording
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, After Effects) or similar editing suite
- Experience with color grading and basic motion design/animation
- Strong portfolio of digital, social, and brand video work
- Ability to shoot, edit, and deliver polish at startup velocity
- Comfortable traveling to conferences/events; able to shoot on the fly and capture content in live event environments
- You own your own camera equipment. Sphere covers editing subscriptions, software, and can provide additional gear as needed.
- You're in San Francisco, available three days per week in office.
NICE TO HAVES
- Experience in B2B or SaaS content
- Familiarity with Figma for static work
- Understanding of platform-specific best practices (LinkedIn, YouTube, website formats)
- Prior experience covering live events or conferences
WHO YOU ARE
You'll thrive here if:
- You're scrappy. You don't need a full studio to execute. You figure out angles, lighting, and shot composition with what's on hand. You move fast without sacrificing quality.
- You're a craftsperson. Polished matters to you. You spend time on color, typography, pacing. You know when something is good and when it needs another pass.
- You're self-directed. You take a brief and run with it. Sphere doesn't micromanage creative—you own the output. You make decisions and defend them.
- You understand what Sphere is. You read our blog, you know our customers, you get why tax compliance is a solvable problem. You can shoot a demo and make it compelling because you believe in what you're showing.
- You like being in the room. Three days in office isn't a policy—it's how creative collaboration at speed works. Rough cuts feel different in a room.
This won't be a fit if:
- You need extensive creative briefs and storyboards before you move
- You need structure handed to you or ambiguity feels draining rather than motivating
- You want to manage people more than own hard problems (we're a flat, experienced team — everyone builds)
- You're used to "good enough" shipping (small errors have outsized impact here)
RESOURCES
- Professional development budget for gear, software, and education
- Equipment support (Sphere covers Adobe, DaVinci Resolve, and other software subscriptions; can provide cameras, lights, or audio gear as needed)

The problem keeps compounding. Expanding into input tax, withholding, e-invoicing, tariffs — each multiplies the complexity. Tens of millions of transactions today, billions ahead.
THE ROLE
We are seeking an experienced indirect tax professional to train and continuously improve TRAM, our AI-driven tax engine. You will be the human check on the machine — reviewing TRAM's determinations and monitoring results at speed and volume, catching errors before they reach customers, and feeding structured findings back into the system so it gets smarter over time.
This is a hands-on review role, not an advisory one: you'll spend most of your time working through TRAM's output, one determination at a time, with sharp accuracy and fast turnaround. Over time, you'll also help shape the tax taxonomy underpinning the system and support deeper research where TRAM's findings need a second opinion.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Review and validate TRAM-generated determinations at high volume, with speed and precision
Flag errors, edge cases, and recurring patterns, and translate them into clear, actionable feedback for TRAM to learn from
Serve as the internal subject matter expert across indirect taxes (sales tax, VAT, GST)
Conduct tax research when a determination needs deeper investigation or a judgment call
Contribute to taxonomy design and definitions
REQUIREMENTS
4+ years of experience in indirect taxation (sales tax, VAT, and/or GST)
Strong understanding of indirect tax systems in the US and/or internationally, with willingness to expand into whichever you know less
Proven ability to work quickly and accurately through high volumes of tax content without sacrificing attention to detail
Global mindset - Sphere was never built as a US-centric product; we think internationally, and we want people who join us to do the same
High attention to detail - one of our key values is ‘Sweating the details’ and it is essential in our business
Strong communication skills - we work at an extremely fast pace and so clear, concise communication is essential
Multitasking capabilities - a lot will be thrown at you and you’ll need to manage your time wisely
NICE TO HAVE
Fluency in another widely spoken language, such as Spanish, French, Arabic, Portuguese, etc.
Hands-on experience with tax automation or compliance platforms
WHO YOU ARE
You'll thrive here if:
You're a Dog. You've been underestimated, gone through struggle, and never stopped running. You have a chip on your shoulder and enormous drive. You look at Stripe, Deel, and Flexport all punting on compliance and think: good, that means the opportunity is ours. Hunger beats pedigree.
Early stage is in your bones. You've built things where there's no playbook and nobody handing you the answer. You define the problem instead of waiting for instructions.
You own it end to end. Give you a goal and you figure out your own path. Small team, global surface area — everyone owns a domain that would be a full team at a larger company. No one tells you how.
You believe speed and accuracy are both possible. We're building a complex product that requires robustness and 100% uptime, and we have to build at our customers' pace. Move fast. Don't break things. Both.
This won't be a fit if:
You need structure handed to you or ambiguity feels draining rather than motivating
You want to manage people more than own hard problems (we're a flat, experienced team — everyone builds)

THE ROLE
We're looking for an experienced leader to own our global e-invoicing strategy and help build a best-in-class e-invoicing platform for our customers. In this role, you'll combine deep expertise in global indirect tax and e-invoicing regulations with strong product and systems thinking to design scalable solutions that enable customers to comply with rapidly evolving global mandates.
You'll work at the intersection of Tax, Product, and Engineering, translating complex regulatory requirements into product capabilities that can be deployed across dozens of countries. You'll define the roadmap for our e-invoicing offering, prioritize market expansion, and ensure our platform remains ahead of global regulatory change.
This is an opportunity to shape one of the company's core products and help define how businesses manage tax compliance in an increasingly digital world.
WHAT YOU'LL DO

- Serve as the company's subject matter expert on global e-invoicing, real-time digital reporting requirements, and related indirect tax regulations
- Partner closely with Product and Engineering to translate regulatory requirements into scalable product features and technical requirements.
- Define country-specific business requirements, validation rules, invoice schemas, and compliance workflows for new market launches.
- Identify opportunities to simplify implementation, reduce operational complexity, and improve the customer experience.
Within months:
- Own the global e-invoicing strategy for our platform, defining the roadmap and priorities for expanding our product across international markets.
- Monitor emerging global e-invoicing regulations and proactively incorporate regulatory changes into our product roadmap.
- Prioritize implementation efforts based on customer demand, regulatory deadlines, and strategic business objectives.
- Collaborate with Customer Success, Sales, Solutions Engineering, and Implementation teams to support customer onboarding and successful deployments.
- Represent the company internally and externally as a trusted expert on global e-invoicing and digital tax compliance.
- Build the foundation for a world-class global e-invoicing program that enables customers to confidently comply with evolving tax regulations.
REQUIREMENTS
- 8+ years of experience in indirect tax, tax technology, VAT/GST, or global tax compliance.
- 3+ years direct e-invoicing experience
- Experience designing or implementing e-invoicing solutions across multiple countries.
- Strong experience partnering with Product and Engineering teams to build tax technology products.
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into scalable product specifications and technical requirements.
- Excellent program management skills with experience leading complex cross-functional initiatives.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to balance regulatory requirements, customer needs, and product scalability.
NICE TO HAVES
- Experience building or managing a commercial e-invoicing platform or tax technology product.
- Experience with PEPPOL, clearance models, CTC frameworks, and real-time reporting systems.
- Experience integrating with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or NetSuite.
- Familiarity with APIs, distributed systems, and enterprise software architecture.
