About this role
Stake is looking for an Intermediate Self-managed Super Fund (SMSF) Accountant to join our team remotely. As we continue to grow, we’ll explore hybrid ways of working in the future.
You’ll work closely with our Senior SMSF Accountant to prepare annual financial statements and tax returns for a rapidly growing portfolio of SMSF customers.
You’ll use your SMSF industry expertise to support our dedicated Customer Success team and help deliver an outstanding experience for Stake customers.
You’ll also onboard new SMSF customers and support Stake’s continued growth.
A bit about you
We’re looking for an accountant with the following experience and capabilities:
- Three to five years’ experience in SMSF administration
- A master’s degree in commerce or an MBA is preferred
- Experience using Class accounting software
- Excellent communication skills and a willingness to liaise with Stake customers and internal stakeholders
- Experience processing accounting transactions, including bank reconciliations, term deposits, investment reconciliations for assets such as shares and managed funds and member balances
- Experience processing contribution allocations, pension payments, rollovers and benefit payments
- The ability to prepare and review workpapers for completeness and accuracy
- The ability to investigate and resolve reconciliation differences and data discrepancies
- Experience processing corporate actions, including dividends, dividend reinvestment plans, capital returns, mergers, demergers and share restructures
- Experience handling more complex transactions, including limited recourse borrowing arrangements, cryptocurrency, foreign investments, derivatives and property investments, where applicable
- The ability to update workflow systems and maintain accurate file notes throughout the preparation process
- A collaborative approach to working with cross-functional teams across Stake

About the role
We are looking for a Senior SMSF Accountant to join our Stake Super team in Pune, India.
Stake Super is helping reshape how Australians engage with self-managed superannuation. As the business continues to grow, we're building a high-performing team focused on delivering exceptional customer outcomes while simplifying an industry that has traditionally been complex and fragmented.
As a Senior SMSF Accountant, you'll play a key role in managing a growing portfolio of SMSF customers and ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality financial statements, tax returns and compliance obligations. You'll combine technical expertise with strong stakeholder management, helping customers navigate important milestones while supporting the continued growth and operational excellence of the business.
This role offers meaningful ownership and the opportunity to influence how Stake delivers SMSF services at scale. You'll work closely with Customer Success, Operations and Accounting teams across the business, contributing to process improvements, customer experience initiatives and the continued evolution of our SMSF offering. This role is fully remote.
What success looks like
Within your first two years, you'll have:
- Built trusted relationships with customers and internal stakeholders, consistently delivering high-quality SMSF accounting outcomes
- Managed a growing portfolio of SMSF customers while maintaining strong standards of accuracy, timeliness and compliance
- Delivered annual financial statements, tax returns and regulatory obligations efficiently across a broad range of SMSF structures and scenarios
- Helped improve operational processes and workflows that increase scalability and enhance the customer experience
- Developed deep expertise across Stake Super products and services, becoming a trusted source of knowledge for colleagues and customers
- Built strong partnerships with auditors, regulators and cross-functional teams to ensure smooth and efficient fund administration
- Contributed to the growth of Stake Super by helping customers confidently manage and grow their retirement savings
- Played a meaningful role in raising operational standards and strengthening the overall quality of Stake's SMSF service offering

- Contributed to process improvement or operational scaling initiatives within an accounting or financial services business
