About Supabase
Supabase is the Postgres development platform, built by developers for developers. We provide a complete backend solution including Database, Auth, Storage, Edge Functions, Realtime, and Vector Search. All services are deeply integrated and designed for growth.
About the role
We're looking for an engineer to drive the evolution of OrioleDB and its collaboration with the upstream PostgreSQL community. OrioleDB is a next-generation storage engine for PostgreSQL, and this role sits at the intersection of database internals, open source community work, and Supabase's managed Postgres platform.
This role requires strong working overlap with Americas time zones due to production support and on-call responsibilities.
What you'll work on
New OrioleDB features. Design and implement new capabilities in OrioleDB — for example, native index access methods (GiST, GIN, HNSW for pgvector), disaster recovery tooling, and other storage-engine-level features that expand what OrioleDB can do.
Stability. Strengthen OrioleDB's reliability through deeper test coverage, fault injection, crash and recovery testing, and improvements to CI infrastructure. Ensure regressions are caught early and that OrioleDB behaves predictably under stress, replication, and failure scenarios.
Upstream collaboration. Contribute changes directly to PostgreSQL core. Part of OrioleDB lives as a patch on top of PostgreSQL — moving the right pieces upstream shrinks what we maintain ourselves and benefits the wider community. This happens through PostgreSQL's open development process: the pgsql-hackers mailing list, public code review, and commitfests.
Supabase integration. Work with Supabase's Postgres team to ensure OrioleDB fits naturally into Supabase's managed offering and roadmap.
You Will:
Design, implement, and test new OrioleDB features and integrate them cleanly with PostgreSQL's planner, executor, and surrounding subsystems.
Build out and maintain test infrastructure: regression suites, fuzzing, randomized testing, crash and recovery testing, and CI pipelines.
Identify and prepare patches suitable for upstreaming to PostgreSQL core.
Improve performance, resilience, monitoring, and operational tooling for production use.
Debug and resolve complex issues in low-level C code, including in storage, replication, indexing, and query execution paths.
Participate in design discussions, architecture reviews, and code reviews — both inside Supabase and in the PostgreSQL community.
Write clear technical documentation, design notes, and upstream proposals.
Have co-responsibility for troubleshooting, analyzing, supporting and maintaining oriledb postgres and bundled extensions in production deployments. This can include answering support ticket requests, an on-call rotation, and supporting our team members in troubleshooting and fixing live customer production databases.
You Are:
An existing PostgreSQL core contributor or have equivalent experience in Database internals.
An expert C programmer with 8+ years of production experience with focus on low-level systems programming
Deeply familiar with PostgreSQL’s codebase, build system, and extension APIs.
Have experience designing or implementing database storage engines, index structures, or query execution components.
Comfortable contributing to community‑driven, upstream open source projects.
Proficient in debugging and profiling complex C code in a database context.
Able to write clear technical documentation and explain design trade‑offs.
A strong communicator, committed to an open and collaborative development process.
What We Offer
Fully Remote
We hire globally. We believe you can do your best work from anywhere. There are no Supabase offices, but we provide a WeWork membership or co-working allowance you can use anywhere in the world.

About Supabase
Supabase is the Postgres development platform, built by developers for developers. We provide a complete backend solution including Database, Auth, Storage, Edge Functions, Realtime, and Vector Search. All services are deeply integrated and designed for growth.
Edge Functions are server-side TypeScript functions, distributed globally at the edge - close to your users. They power use cases such as webhook receivers, AI inferences, OG image generation and real-time bots (Slack, Discord, etc). Built on top of Supabase Edge Runtime: an open-source, Deno-based runtime written in Rust that runs JavaScript, TypeScript, and WASM services.
We want developers to be able to build truly global applications by distributing both compute and data globally. Infrastructure concerns like regions, cold starts, CPU and memory provisioning should fade into the background so developers can focus on iterating on business logic.
We are looking for experienced and passionate engineers to help us go further in this vision.
What You’ll Own
Evolving Supabase Edge Runtime - an Open-sourced Rust-based host that runs the Deno isolate, manages the main/user runtime split, and enforces per-request memory and CPU limits.
Implementing monitoring, alerting, and OpenTelemetry tracing across the runtime, then using that visibility to drive optimizations that improve latency and reliability of the service.
Working closely with the Deno and other open-source teams, contributing to upstream and relaying our users' requirements.
Participating in an on-call rotation to keep Edge Functions healthy in production.
Help manage and improve features like scheduled functions, background tasks, WebSockets streaming, ephemeral file storage, and custom routing.
Integrating functions more tightly with the rest of the Supabase stack - Auth, Postgres, Storage, and Realtime.
Expanding functions to support more use cases (AI inference, MCP servers, hosting simple websites, URL shorteners).
Improving the DX of developing and debugging functions locally through the Supabase CLI, including DevTools integration, logging, and production parity.
What You’ll Bring
At least 5 years of backend or systems engineering experience, with strong fluency in Rust and TypeScript.
Experience with V8 Isolates, Deno and the JavaScript runtimes in general.
Experience operating infrastructure at scale - Kubernetes, AWS, Cloudflare Workers, Redis, or comparable systems.
A strong vision for how compute and data can be pushed to the edge.
Bonus: experience building developer-facing CLIs or front-end tooling that sits on top of an infrastructure product.
What We Offer
Fully Remote
We hire globally. We believe you can do your best work from anywhere. There are no Supabase offices, but we provide a WeWork membership or co-working allowance you can use anywhere in the world.

Supabase is the Postgres development platform, built by developers for developers. We provide a complete backend solution including Database, Auth, Storage, Edge Functions, Realtime, and Vector Search. All services are deeply integrated and designed for growth.
About The Role
We are looking for a CLI Engineer to join our CLI Team and help build a world-class local development experience.
This is a hands-on individual contributor role focused on the CLI, local development tooling, and the developer experience that makes Supabase feel like a first-class part of any dev environment. At this level, you'll also be a technical anchor for the team — setting the bar on architecture, owning the hardest problems, and raising the quality of the engineers around you.
You will work closely with customers, product teams, and the open source community to deliver tooling that is consistent, secure, and performant across Windows, Linux, and macOS.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in async, fast-paced environments and is energized by building developer tools that scale to millions.
What You'll Be Responsible For
Designing and developing CLI tooling that is consistent, secure, and performant across Windows, Linux, and macOS
Driving architecture decisions for the CLI and local development stack — writing RFCs, building consensus, and move proposals to outcomes
Owning the hardest cross-platform problems: edge cases, release engineering, backwards compatibility, performance at scale
Defining and maintaining CLI design standards — command structure, output formatting, error messaging, agentic usability — that the team builds against
Designing and evaluating CLI behavior for agentic workflows, ensuring the CLI is as usable for AI agents as it is for developers, and building the evals that measure that
Collaborating with product and platform teams to define end-to-end behavior: from API design through to how the CLI and local development stack surface those capabilities
Implementing unit, integration, and end-to-end tests so reliability and maintainability stay high as the surface area grows
Raising the technical quality of the team through structured code review, design feedback, and pairing — you take satisfaction in making the engineers around you better, not just shipping your own work
Creating documentation and help content for CLI users and contributing developers
Participating in releases, versioning, and backwards compatibility for the components you own
Monitoring usage and feedback; working with customers and the open source community to improve CLI experiences
Engaging with the open-source community — contributors, issues, feedback
You Might Be A Good Fit If You
Have 5-8 years building developer-facing tooling, most of it on a CLI
Have strong TypeScript experience — this is a TypeScript codebase and you should be genuinely comfortable at depth
Have hands-on experience building, maintaining, or owning CLIs — including cross-platform concerns: filesystem access, subprocess management, terminal UX, and platform-specific behavior
Have a track record making and defending architectural decisions in a collaborative, async environment — RFCs, design docs, building consensus
Have experience building CLIs with great developer UX: intuitive command structure, clear output, actionable error messaging
Are familiar with agentic workflows and designing for agent use cases
Are familiar with package distribution and installation (npm, Homebrew, APT, Snap, Scoop, Chocolatey)
Have solid Git workflow and CI/CD experience for automated testing and deployment
Are highly autonomous — you don't need a lot of direction to go deep and ship

- Owning the hardest cross-platform problems: edge cases, release engineering, backwards compatibility, performance at scale
- Defining and maintaining CLI design standards — command structure, output formatting, error messaging, agentic usability — that the team builds against
- Designing and evaluating CLI behavior for agentic workflows, ensuring the CLI is as usable for AI agents as it is for developers, and building the evals that measure that
- Collaborating with product and platform teams to define end-to-end behavior: from API design through to how the CLI and local development stack surface those capabilities
- Implementing unit, integration, and end-to-end tests so reliability and maintainability stay high as the surface area grows
- Raising the technical quality of the team through structured code review, design feedback, and pairing — you take satisfaction in making the engineers around you better, not just shipping your own work
- Creating documentation and help content for CLI users and contributing developers
- Participating in releases, versioning, and backwards compatibility for the components you own
- Monitoring usage and feedback; working with customers and the open source community to improve CLI experiences
- Engaging with the open-source community — contributors, issues, feedback
YOU MIGHT BE A GOOD FIT IF YOU
- Have 5-8 years building developer-facing tooling, most of it on a CLI
- Have strong TypeScript experience — this is a TypeScript codebase and you should be genuinely comfortable at depth
- Have hands-on experience building, maintaining, or owning CLIs — including cross-platform concerns: filesystem access, subprocess management, terminal UX, and platform-specific behavior
- Have a track record making and defending architectural decisions in a collaborative, async environment — RFCs, design docs, building consensus
- Have experience building CLIs with great developer UX: intuitive command structure, clear output, actionable error messaging
- Are familiar with agentic workflows and designing for agent use cases
- Are familiar with package distribution and installation (npm, Homebrew, APT, Snap, Scoop, Chocolatey)
- Have solid Git workflow and CI/CD experience for automated testing and deployment
- Are highly autonomous — you don't need a lot of direction to go deep and ship

Overview
Application
Supabase is the Postgres development platform, built by developers for developers to help them ship countless products that people love. More than 7 million developers trust us with their data, and we are custodians of every byte of it. Security is foundational to that trust, and as we move deeper into AI-native development, regulated industries, and enterprise, it shapes whether a developer chooses us on day one and whether a regulated company can build their most sensitive workloads on Supabase.
About the role
We're looking for a PM who can balance the constant tension between security and developer experience at platform scale. Every control you add is friction a developer has to absorb, and every default you loosen is a door an attacker could walk through. Finding the right balance between protecting customers and keeping them fast is the work of this role.
You'll partner with Security Engineering, Compliance, and the platform teams that own auth, networking, and audit.
This is a remote position and we're open to considering candidates located across EMEA and AMER time zones.
In This Role You Will
Set the security agenda for the platform. Lead Supabase's platform security roadmap end-to-end, from the defaults that protect a developer prototyping their first project to the advanced controls a Fortune 500 CISO needs before approving us.
Hold the line between security and developer experience. Every security feature trades protection against friction. A control that's too strict pushes developers off the platform; one that's too easy to bypass doesn't protect anyone.
Lead our security strategy for AI agents. Agents now read, write, and deploy on behalf of developers and companies, often at machine speed. You'll lead how Supabase authenticates, scopes, and audits agent activity so customers can give them real capability while staying in control of their data.
Own our security product surface. Drive the roadmap for the security tooling customers use to operate safely on Supabase: firewall, security advisors, audit logs, Supabase Vault, just-in-time database access, and the IAM primitives that let regulated customers get to "yes" with their security team.
Define the unified access model across Supabase. Roles, permissions, personal access tokens, OAuth integrations, organization and project modeling, SSO, and SCIM are foundational to how customers manage who can do what. You'll set the strategy that ties them together and drive the cross-cutting RFCs from proposal to shipped code.
Drive the compliance roadmap. Supabase already runs a strong compliance program with SOC2 and HIPAA in place. Your job is to define what comes next so more regulated companies can adopt us.
Be the customer's voice for security. Talk to enterprise prospects, regulated customers, and the security teams behind them. Translate what you hear into a roadmap that earns trust at every customer size, from the indie hacker prototyping their first project to the Fortune 500 CISO evaluating us for their most regulated workloads.
Ship the docs that go with the code. Make the security guides on supabase.com the best in the category: clear, opinionated, and trustworthy enough that a developer evaluating us comes away convinced.
You Might Be a Good Fit If You
Have 7+ years in product management, with serious time on security, identity and access, infrastructure, or developer platform products at a company where security mattered to enterprise buyers.
Have deep working knowledge of the security primitives our customers use like authentication, authorization (RBAC, RLS), audit logging, secrets management, OAuth.
Have a track record of leading cross-functional initiatives across Product, Engineering, Security, GTM, and Compliance, and driving multi-team RFCs from proposal to shipped code.
Are 100% comfortable in a remote, async, write-it-down culture.
Are an exceptional writer. You can draft a customer-facing security disclosure, an internal threat model, a docs page, or a one-pager for a CISO without losing voice or precision.
Nice to have
Compliance fluency. You've worked alongside auditors and security teams on programs like SOC2, HIPAA, ISO 27001, PCI, or FedRAMP, and you can tell which requirements are real customer needs and which are checkbox theater.
Technical depth in Postgres, auth systems, or networking primitives.
Experience designing access models for AI agents or other automated systems.
Shipped security features that enterprise CISOs had to approve before adoption.
