About Teleport
Don't wait for the future of infrastructure. Be part of it.
Teleport is the AI Infrastructure Identity Company. We're solving one of the hardest problems in security: giving every human, machine, workload, and AI agent a cryptographically secured identity, improving engineering velocity while maintaining security. We make trusted computing simple. This gives you the freedom, power, and autonomy to build and innovate with confidence.
Remote-first and globally distributed, we work with companies like Nasdaq, Doordash, and Elastic to secure infrastructure for an AI world.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for our first Data Engineer to build Teleport's internal data platform. You will design and own the pipelines and warehouse that turn raw data from across the company, including product usage, production costs, budgets, and sales, into data that any team can use to answer their own questions.
You will work closely with teams across the company, including product, engineering, finance, and revenue, to understand their data needs and deliver reliable, well-modeled data they can depend on.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Design and build data pipelines that ingest data from a variety of internal sources into a central warehouse.
- Design data models and schemas that are performant, well-documented, and can evolve as our data and questions change.
- Build data quality checks and validation into every stage of the pipeline so that bad data fails loudly instead of quietly reaching downstream tables.
- Handle sensitive data responsibly, including access control, redaction, and retention policy for data containing customer or user information.
- Partner with stakeholders across the company to scope new data sources and analytical tables, and help them get self-serve access to the data they need.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Willingness to work collaboratively with Teleport's engineers on coding challenge in SQL / Go https://github.com/gravitational/careers/blob/7e7855c710113fcaa59e0f0a842b25167d28e373/challenges/data-engineer/challenge-1.mdas part of the interview process.
- Builder mentality and experience — has built a data engineering function from scratch at a growing startup.
- Expertise in data modeling and SQL.
- Extensive experience building data pipelines in Python or Go.
- Experience with a cloud data warehouse (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, or similar).
- Experience with pipeline orchestration or transformation tooling.
- Experience handling sensitive data responsibly, including access control and data retention practices.
- Intellectual curiosity and a willingness to master new technologies.
- Comfortable changing the area of focus and working directly with stakeholders across the company.
- No-ego mindset of collaboration, transparency, and seeking feedback from others.
NICE TO HAVE
- Go is your language of choice.
- Mathematics or statistics background.
- Knowledge of Airflow, dbt, or similar tools.
HOW WE HIRE
Our process is designed to be straightforward and respectful of your time. We skip performative rounds and focus on what matters: understanding how you think and what you can do.
For this role, we use a take-home challenge that mirrors real work at Teleport — on your time, your way. You'll have support from the team throughout.
1. Zoom meeting with a Teleport recruiter. You’ll learn about the company, our products, compensation philosophy, interview process, and key requirements.
2. Zoom meeting with the Hiring Manager. The Hiring Manager will walk you through the coding challenge and answer your questions.
3. Coding challenge collaboration. The day after your meeting with the Hiring Manager, you join a Slack channel and complete a coding challenge in SQL / Go https://github.com/gravitational/careers/blob/7e7855c710113fcaa59e0f0a842b25167d28e373/challenges/data-engineer/challenge-1.md using GitHub. The challenge usually takes about 2 weeks and ends with a Zoom meeting with the Hiring Manager and a member of the interview team to review your solution.
4. If your challenge solution meets our bar, you'll receive an offer to join Teleport.
Why Teleport
You're joining a company where the problem is real, the team is small, and your work shows up directly in the product. We're not a big company, you won't get lost in a crowd. You'll have the freedom and autonomy to do what you're great at, alongside teammates who care about doing it right and want to see you succeed. The work is collaborative, there's real room to grow, and the mission is one worth showing up for.
Remote-first and globally distributed, we're genuinely passionate about what we're building.
The Benefits
At Teleport, we believe your career is more important than a list of perks. That's why we focus on making your day-to-day the best it can be — giving you the autonomy, access, and support to do the best work of your career.
- Extensive health coverage
- Annual expense budget
- Rest and recovery policies that maximize your ability to recharge
- Investment in your future with retirement savings plans
- Professional development opportunities

About Teleport
Don't wait for the future of infrastructure. Be part of it.
Teleport is the AI Infrastructure Identity Company. We're solving one of the hardest problems in security: giving every human, machine, workload, and AI agent a cryptographically secured identity, improving engineering velocity while maintaining security. We make trusted computing simple. This gives you the freedom, power, and autonomy to build and innovate with confidence.
Remote-first and globally distributed, we work with companies like Nasdaq, Doordash, and Elastic to secure infrastructure for an AI world.
About the Role:
As a Mid-Market Account Executive at Teleport, you will own the full sales cycle for mid-sized organizations looking to secure their infrastructure in an AI-driven world. Teleport unifies identity across humans, machines, workloads, and AI agents — replacing fragmented, credential-based access with a hardware-rooted, cryptographic identity layer that scales zero trust across cloud and on-prem environments. You'll work closely with Sales Engineering, Account Development and Marketing to identify, qualify, and close new business, building a repeatable, high-velocity motion across a defined territory or vertical. This role is ideal for a driven, autonomous seller who thrives on prospecting and closing deals in a fast-paced, high-growth environment — while helping customers eliminate credential sprawl, reduce identity-based attack surface, and prepare their infrastructure for the demands of agentic AI.
What You'll Do:
- Communicate effectively with Engineering, InfoSec teams, and business stakeholders.
- Develop a territory plan and relentlessly execute against it in order to exceed your quota.
- Understand the nuances of selling open source technology.
- Help us foster our open source community and grow our commercial offering.
- Identify and excite champions at your key accounts so they become your executive sponsors.
- Navigate complex deals involving several stakeholders across engineering and InfoSec without coming across as "Salesy."
- Mentor our Sales Development Reps. You will collaborate with them in order to break into your target accounts.
- Strong listening and storytelling skills.
What We're Looking For:
- 3+ years of quota attainment at a software startup in the infrastructure, security, open source space
- 1+ year experience working at a growing start up selling to scaling AI, fintech or e-commerce companies
- Experience in articulating the value of a product, aligning with the specific needs and compliance requirements amongst complex organizations
- Humility, curiosity, resilience, and a sense of humor.
- You're not afraid of prospecting.
How We Hire — Instructions
Our process is designed to be straightforward and respectful of your time. We skip performative rounds and focus on what matters: understanding how you think and what you can do.
You'll start with a 30-minute recruiter screen, followed by a 30-minute interview with the hiring manager and four team member, a presentation including clear instructions.
Reporting to the COO, the VP of Finance will serve as the senior financial executive responsible for the full spectrum of corporate finance, including FP&A, accounting, strategic planning, board reporting, and IPO-readiness. You will manage a high-performing finance team, build the systems and processes that support a scaling infrastructure as a service business, and act as a trusted advisor to leaders across the organization.
This is a high-ownership role for a builder who is equally comfortable in the boardroom and in the details. A successful hire will be able to turn complex business data into clear strategic guidance and scale a lean finance function without losing rigor by leveraging the latest technology available.
There is not currently a CFO in place, so there is also potential room for growth into that role for high performers.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Financial Planning & Strategy
- Serve as a strategic thought partner to the COO and CEO — bringing a financial lens to company-level decisions on market positioning, competitive strategy, pricing, geographic expansion, and capital allocation
- Co-own the company’s long-range strategic plan alongside executive leadership, shaping not just the financial expression of strategy but the strategy itself
- Identify the financial and operational levers that drive sustainable growth, and advocate for resource allocation decisions that reflect Teleport’s most important strategic bets
- Own the annual planning and quarterly forecasting cycles, delivering accurate, driver-based financial models across revenue, cost, and headcount
- Lead scenario analysis and sensitivity modeling to pressure-test strategic options and support key investment decisions
- Translate financial data into clear, actionable insights for the COO, CEO, and Board of Directors by connecting day-to-day performance to long-term strategic goals
Accounting & Controls
- Oversee all accounting operations including monthly close, revenue recognition (ASC 606), and financial statement preparation
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls, ensuring compliance with US GAAP and audit readiness
- Manage relationships with external auditors and tax advisors
Board & Investor Reporting
- Prepare board-level financial packages, investor updates, and management reporting with clarity and precision
- Support fundraising, debt financing, and M&A diligence processes as needed
- Develop the financial narrative for investors and analysts, underpinned by robust SaaS metrics
Business Partnering
- Partner closely with Sales, Product, Engineering, and People leaders to drive financial accountability across the business
- Own financial metrics and provide regular performance analyses
- Support revenue operations, pricing strategy, and go-to-market financial planning
Team & Systems Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and scale a high-performing finance team including FP&A, accounting, and revenue operations
- Drive the selection, implementation, and optimization of financial systems and tools (ERP, FP&A platforms, billing infrastructure)
- Build scalable, automated financial processes that support rapid growth and eventual public-company readiness
- Champion and model the use of AI and modern technology tools — actively embedding automation, AI-assisted analysis, and intelligent workflows into finance operations to move faster, reduce manual work, and raise the quality of output
- Set the standard for technology fluency on the finance team: encourage experimentation with tools like Claude and other AI systems for modeling, reporting, and documentation, and create space for the team to share what works
WORKING AT TELEPORT IN THE AGE OF MODERN TECHNOLOGY
At Teleport, using the best available tools and systems isn’t a nice-to-have — it’s part of how we work. We expect every Teleporter to actively adopt modern technology to do their job better: move faster, think harder, and produce work they’re proud of. That means embracing automation, better documentation systems, analytics, and tools like Claude regularly, bringing technology into your problem-solving, and sharing what works with your team.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- 18+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, with significant time as VP of Finance, CFO, or equivalent senior finance executive
- Proven record of success at a high-growth B2B Cybersecurity, SaaS or infrastructure technology company in Series D/E/F stages with over $200mln in ARR
- Strong command of GAAP accounting, SaaS financial metrics, financial controls, and audit processes
- Demonstrated experience supporting a company through key inflection points — Series C+, late-stage private, or IPO preparation
- Outstanding communication skills — able to present complex financial matters to executive teams, boards, and investors with confidence and clarity
- Proven ability to build and lead high-performing, geographically distributed finance teams
- Hands-on experience evaluating, selecting, and scaling financial systems (NetSuite, Workday, Adaptive Insights, or comparable platforms)
- Collaborative, data-driven decision-maker who thrives in a fast-moving, distributed environment
- Ability to be in-person in our HQ in Oakland, CA, a few times a week for in-person collaboration with the executive team.
NICE TO HAVE
- CPA, CFA, or MBA from a leading program
- Experience taking a company through late stage private funding stages and IPO
- Open-source or developer-tools experience.

The day after your meeting with the Hiring Manager, you join a Slack channel and complete a coding challenge in Go https://github.com/gravitational/careers/blob/main/challenges/systems/challenge-1.md using GitHub. The challenge usually takes about 2 weeks and ends with a Zoom meeting with the Hiring Manager and a member of the interview team to review your solution.
4. If your challenge solution meets our bar, you'll receive an offer to join Teleport.
