Who We Are
We are an award-winning independent creative solutions company that aspires to be the most culturally influential company in the world. We help ambitious brands harness the power of culture to solve their biggest challenges. As a unique mix of experts in culture, technology, and storytelling, we are united by a passion to grow brands in ways that advertising alone can never do.
We are an entrepreneurial business, not a traditional “ad agency.” That means we value resourcefulness and tenacity just as much as we value creativity and intelligence. We’re unapologetically ambitious!
We are looking for a Creative Operations Lead to join Translation!
What You'll Do
The Creative Operations Lead is a critical operational leader at Translation, responsible for ensuring the right people are on the right work at the right time across every active account and initiative. This role sits at the center of the agency's capacity ecosystem, partnering closely with the Program Management team to keep delivery on track, talent balanced, and the business protected.
As Translation scales its resource planning capabilities — including the rollout of a new, intuitive staffing and capacity platform, this lead will serve as both the operational owner of that tool and the strategic steward of how people are planned, protected, and prioritized across billable and non-billable work.
Resource Planning & Allocation
Own and manage staffing allocations across all active client accounts, ensuring people are planned accurately and updated in real time.
Lead the rollout and ongoing adoption of Translation's new resource management platform, serving as the primary administrator and internal champion.
Surface capacity conflicts, volume pressure points, and over-allocation risks proactively — before they become delivery problems.
Partner daily with the PM team to align headcount plans with project timelines, scope changes, and shifting client demands.
Develop and maintain clear visibility into who is available, who is over-committed, and where gaps exist across all functions.
Track talent skills and passions.
Workload Balancing & Prioritization
Balance competing demands across billable client work, proactive creative opportunities, new business pitches, and internal initiatives.
Make and communicate clear recommendations on when and how to pull staff from non-billable work in service of billable priorities.
Establish and enforce workload thresholds that protect talent from burnout while maintaining agency output and quality.
Build frameworks for how to triage competing requests, ensuring leadership has the right information to make fast, informed staffing calls.
Freelancer Management
Proactively source and pipeline freelance talent in advance of high-volume periods, ensuring the agency is never caught flat-footed when capacity spikes.
Manage first holds on preferred freelancers across disciplines, maintaining relationships so Translation has priority access when demand peaks.
Negotiate freelance rates with an eye toward engagement length securing better terms for longer commitments while staying within agency margin thresholds.
Vet new freelancers in partnership with relevant discipline leads and key creative, strategy, and production leaders before adding them to the approved roster.
Own and maintain a current, organized freelancer database including rates, availability windows, past project history, and performance notes so the agency can move quickly when a need arises.
Awards & Case Study Management
Own the end-to-end process for awards submissions tracking eligible work, managing timelines, coordinating materials, and submitting entries across relevant shows.
Build and maintain a living library of agency case studies, ensuring work is documented accurately and kept current across accounts.
Partner with Business Development, Business Leadership, Strategy, and Creative to capture the story behind Translation's best work in a format ready for new business, press, and agency promotion.
Develop a calendar and workflow for proactive awards planning to avoid last-minute scrambles.
Cross-Functional Partnership
Serve as a key operational partner to the PM team, creating tight alignment between resource plans and delivery commitments.
Act as a trusted advisor to Business Leadership and Client Engagement teams on capacity and staffing strategy, translating data into actionable recommendations.
Collaborate with People Operations on headcount planning, open role identification, and freelance needs driven by capacity gaps.
Represent resource management in agency planning conversations, including scoping, new business, and organizational design discussions.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Proven track record managing complex, multi-account staffing in a fast-paced environment where priorities shift quickly.
Strong command of resource management tools and platforms; experience leading a tool rollout or system migration is a plus.
Experience managing or willing to learn managing awards submissions and/or case study development, with a clear understanding of how agency recognition supports business development.
A systems thinker who is equally comfortable in the weeds of a staffing grid and in a strategic conversation about organizational design.
Clear, confident communicator who can translate operational complexity into simple, actionable recommendations for senior leadership.
A natural collaborator who builds trust quickly and maintains it under pressure.
High integrity around people data: this role has visibility into utilization and performance-adjacent information and must handle it with discretion.
Minimum Qualifications
6+ years of experience in resource management, project management, creative operations, or a related function within a creative agency or marketing organization.
Deep understanding of how creative agencies work, the rhythms of production, the difference between billable and non-billable time, and how to protect both.
Freelance recruiting experience and negotiation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience managing and enhancing a product or platform.
A strong network of freelance talent relationships.

Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. Why are you being asked to complete this form?
We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.

Who We Are
UnitedMasters is building a marketplace that connects artists, brands and fans - empowering artists to earn and grow. UnitedMasters has taken the bold step of building a music distribution service that, radically, puts artists first - disrupting the legacy music business by letting up-and-coming artists distribute their music directly to fans through streaming services while maintaining ownership of their master recording rights and up to 100% of royalties. Through the combination of UnitedMasters’ music distribution platform and its deep ties to brands, UnitedMasters enables independent artists and change-makers to grow and earn unlike any other platform.
The UnitedMasters team is made up of musicians, marketers, engineers, and storytellers with backgrounds from YouTube, SoundCloud, Pandora, Facebook, Uber, Dropbox, Complex, VICE, and more. We work hand in hand with the award-winning creative teams that forge those innovative partnerships at Translation (our in-house creative advertising agency).
We are looking for a VP, Legal to join UnitedMasters! This role is for a strategic, business-minded legal leader who thrives at the intersection of music, technology, and advertising. In this role, you’ll serve as a key partner to executive leadership, advising on risk, commercial transactions, corporate strategy, and high-impact partnerships across UnitedMasters LLC and Translation LLC. You’ll play a critical role in shaping the company’s legal and business direction while leading and developing the legal team. This is an opportunity for someone who can think big, move decisively, and help guide the company through its next phase of growth.
This role is based in Brooklyn, New York with four days in-office and one day remote.
What You'll Do
Partner directly with the C-suite and senior leadership to provide strategic legal guidance and risk analysis on key initiatives and company direction.
Structure and advise on complex commercial arrangements, including distribution, licensing, partnerships, and strategic transactions.
Serve as a senior legal advisor across the full enterprise, including music distribution, product and technology, international expansion, sync and licensing, corporate strategy, business development, advertising, and supporting shared services (HR, Finance, IT).
Manage the internal legal team, setting priorities, allocating resources, and elevating overall legal function performance.
Partner and coordinate with outside counsel, ensuring efficient execution, cost management, and alignment with company objectives.
Lead development and implementation of scalable legal frameworks, policies, and best practices across the organization
Guide product, technology, and international teams on launches, expansion, and regulatory considerations
Oversee and manage enforcing rights, dispute resolution strategy, including pre-litigation, litigation, and settlement approach.
Ensure the company operates with a practical, business-forward legal posture that enables growth rather than restricts it
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Background in IP, media, technology, music and/or entertainment law, with strong commercial instincts.
Proven ability to operate at a strategic level, advising executives and influencing business outcomes while maintaining strong relationships internally and externally.
Experience managing or leading legal teams and partnering with outside counsel.
Deep understanding of commercial deal structures, rights frameworks, and global business operations.
Strong judgment, with the ability to balance legal risk against business objectives.
Effective communicator, excellent writer, and outward leader who can translate complex legal concepts into clear, actionable guidance.
Comfortable operating cross-functionally with product, finance, HR, marketing, and business teams.
Proficiency with AI-powered legal tools and workflows (e.g., contract review/analysis, legal research, and document automation), with the ability to leverage emerging technologies to improve legal efficiency, scalability, and decision-making.
Minimum Qualifications
J.D. from an accredited law school, admitted and in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction, preferably NY.

Salary Hiring Range: $220,000 - $250,000
Our salary ranges are based on paying competitively for our size and industry, and are one part of many compensation, benefits and other reward opportunities we provide (e.g. bonus, stock options, 401(k) match, etc.)
Individual pay rate decisions are based on a number of factors, including qualifications for the role, experience level, skillset, and balancing internal equity relative to peers at the company. We expect the majority of the candidates who are offered roles at our company to fall healthily throughout the range based on these factors.
The range above is for the expectations as laid out in the job description, however we are often open to a wide variety of profiles, and recognize that the person we hire may be less experienced (or more senior) than this job description as posted. If that ends up being the case, the updated salary range will be communicated with you as a candidate.
The salary range above is for the NY/CA. As a company, we have a location based strategy, which means the salary range could be lower or higher than this if the role is hired in another location.
