About Upstart
At Upstart, we’re united by a mission that matters: to radically reduce the cost and complexity of borrowing for all Americans. Every day, we bring creativity, experimentation, and advanced AI to reshape access to credit, helping millions move forward financially with clarity and confidence.
As the leading AI lending marketplace, we partner with banks and credit unions to expand access to affordable credit through technology that’s both radically intelligent and deeply human. Our platform runs over one million predictions per borrower using more than 3,000 signals, powering smarter, fairer decisions for millions of customers. But the numbers only hint at the impact. Every idea, every voice, and every contribution moves us closer to a world where credit never stands between people and their financial progress.
We’re proudly digital-first, giving most Upstarters the flexibility to do their best work from wherever they thrive, alongside teammates across 80+ cities in the US and Canada. Digital-first doesn’t mean distant. We’re intentional about in-person connection through team onsites, planning sessions, and moments that spark creativity and trust. And whether you choose to work primarily from home or collaborate in-person from one of our offices in Columbus, Austin, the Bay Area, or New York City (opening Summer 2026), you’ll have the support to work in the way that works best for you.
If you’re energized by tackling meaningful problems, excited to innovate with purpose, and motivated by work that truly matters, we’d love to hear from you.
The Team:
Upstart's Investor Services team partners with institutional investors that provide the capital powering Upstart's lending platform, ensuring they can efficiently purchase, fund, and manage investments across Upstart's growing suite of products. The team oversees the end-to-end investor lifecycle, including diligence, onboarding, loan sales, investor operations, and new product readiness, while partnering across Capital Markets, Product, Engineering, Legal, Operations, Treasury, and Compliance teams to deliver a seamless investor experience.
As the Investor Enablement Operations Manager, you will serve as the operational backbone of the team, driving execution across complex cross-functional initiatives, improving operational governance, and helping scale the processes that support Upstart's investor platform. This role is ideal for a highly organized operator who enjoys solving ambiguous problems, driving alignment across teams, and building systems that improve how work gets done.
How you’ll make an impact:
Drive execution across strategic Capital Markets initiatives, ensuring workstreams remain coordinated, on track, and aligned across multiple teams.
Own operational governance by improving visibility, accountability, prioritization, and execution across diligence, onboarding, loan sales, investor operations, and new product readiness.
Lead cross-functional programs involving Capital Markets, Product, Engineering, Legal, Operations, Treasury, and Compliance to deliver investor-facing initiatives successfully.
Manage investor-impacting operational escalations, identify risks early, remove blockers, and drive timely resolution.
Design and implement scalable operating mechanisms, processes, and governance frameworks that improve organizational efficiency and reduce execution risk.
Partner with leadership to improve operational readiness for new investors, products, partnerships, and strategic business initiatives.
Identify opportunities for automation, AI adoption, and process improvement to increase organizational leverage and reduce manual work.
Develop reporting, metrics, and operating cadences that improve decision-making and provide greater visibility into organizational health.
What we’re looking for:
Minimum qualifications:
5+ years of experience in operations, program management, business operations, strategic operations, investor operations, or a related field.
Demonstrated success leading complex cross-functional initiatives involving multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.
Experience driving operational execution, managing escalations, and improving business processes in a fast-paced environment.
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate ambiguity and drive outcomes.
Proven ability to influence stakeholders and build alignment without direct authority.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience communicating with senior leaders and cross-functional partners.
Experience balancing strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
Preferred qualifications:
Experience in fintech, financial services, banking, lending, Capital Markets, or investor operations.
Experience partnering closely with Product and Engineering teams to launch new products or improve operational workflows.
Experience building operating cadences, governance frameworks, dashboards, and reporting mechanisms.
Experience managing operational readiness, partner onboarding, or large-scale cross-functional implementations.
Experience leading process transformation, operational excellence, or organizational scaling initiatives.
Familiarity with loan sales, investor onboarding, investor diligence, servicing operations, or secondary market activities.
Experience leveraging AI tools (i.e. ChatGPT, Glean, Claude, Delphina, or similar) to improve productivity, analysis, documentation, and operational execution.

Expires 04/30/2026
Why are you being asked to complete this form?
We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
How do you know if you have a disability?

The Team:
Upstart’s Risk Capital team manages the co-investments that Upstart engages with its funding partners on a long-term commitment basis. It’s a ~$11B+ book, and the team owns how those investments perform, what they’re worth, the risks they carry, and the monthly reporting that keeps our investor partners informed. As the marketplace grows, the team is building the portfolio oversight and automation to manage it at scale.
As the Portfolio Manager, Risk Capital at Upstart, you will help manage this portfolio of investments — tracking how it performs, what it’s worth, and the risks it carries — while running the hands-on, deal-by-deal process and reporting behind it each month. Think of it as a portfolio-management role with an operational focus. You’ll also lead the automation roadmap that lets the program keep scaling, and mentor two junior analysts.
How you’ll make an impact
Run the monthly process end-to-end with operational excellence — performance reporting and settlement for each investment.
Calculate and stand behind the amounts owed between Upstart and each investor every month, and work with our investor-facing team to settle them.
Monitor the portfolio’s performance, value, and risk across all investments, and surface what matters to Finance and Treasury leadership.
Partner across Capital Markets, Accounting, Treasury, Audit, and our investor-facing team to bring on new deals and answer investors’ questions on performance and settlements.
Lead the automation that modernizes how the team works with AI enablement.
Mentor two junior analysts on the analysis, the modeling, and the judgment behind the numbers.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent practical experience, in finance, economics, mathematics, engineering, or a related quantitative field.
5+ years of experience in investment management, portfolio management, structured finance, or capital markets.
Demonstrated experience building and auditing cash-flow or financial models in spreadsheets.
Experience querying and analyzing data with SQL or a comparable query language.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with consumer loans, asset-backed or whole-loan investments, or marketplace lending (e.g., personal, auto, or home-equity loans).
Proficiency with Python and hands-on use of AI tools to automate analysis, modeling, or reporting.
Familiarity with how returns are shared across different deal structures, and with monitoring investment performance and risk.
Experience supporting investor relationships, settlements, or reporting for institutional investors.
Ability to explain complex deals and numbers in plain language for senior leaders and investors.
Experience leading process-improvement or automation initiatives within a finance or analytics function.

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.

The Team:
Upstart's Secured Lending Fraud Oversight function is the Bank's first-line fraud detection, investigation, and monitoring across the HELOC and Auto Lending business lines. As a business unit function, the team owns fraud risk identification, investigation of suspected fraudulent activity, referral package preparation, and fraud trend analysis and reporting. The fraud function operates with direct access to loan files, origination data, and dealer and channel relationships — enabling the depth and speed of investigation that the Bank's fraud risk profile demands. The team works in close coordination with the Secured Lending Quality Control function: QC analysts escalate fraud indicators identified during file reviews, and fraud analysts provide fraud-focused review support during lower-volume periods, consistent with a documented cross-utilization protocol and independence safeguards.
As a Fraud Analyst, you will own day-to-day fraud detection and investigation for your assigned product line(s). You will investigate suspected fraud across the entire loan life cycle from application through loan servicing; identify and document emerging typologies and fraud patterns; prepare escalation and SAR referral packages for review; and partner with Operations, Risk, Compliance, and Legal to strengthen fraud controls across the business.
This is an opportunity for an experienced fraud professional who is energized by building investigation programs in a fast-paced, technology-driven lending environment — and who wants to operate at the intersection of fraud, compliance, and AI-powered risk controls.
How you’ll make an impact
Own first-line fraud detection and investigation across your assigned secured lending product line(s), monitoring for suspicious activity and fraud indicators across application, origination, and servicing
Investigate key fraud risks and emerging typologies, including application fraud, identity fraud (true-name and synthetic), income and employment misrepresentation, collateral fraud, and Auto dealer-related fraud patterns
Investigate product specific fraud typologies including occupancy misrepresentation, valuation inflation, and undisclosed liabilities or loan stacking
Prepare comprehensive fraud escalation and SAR referral packages for review — documenting facts, evidence, typology, and recommendations
Conduct early payment default (EPD) fraud file reviews — performing fraud indicator review on loans reaching 60+ days past due within 90 days of origination
Monitor and analyze fraud trends across origination channels, including application fraud rates, dealer-level fraud indicators, geographic concentrations, synthetic identity patterns, and channel-level risk signals; producing fraud metrics and trend reporting
Maintain dealer fraud scorecards (Auto) and channel-level fraud indicator tracking, including pattern-based referrals and dealer suspension triggers in coordination with Vendor Management and dealer oversight functions
Integrate closely with the Secured Lending QC team — triage fraud-related alerts surfaced by the QC Engine's daily monitoring output; provide typology and red flag feedback to improve detection rules and origination controls
Coordinate across Operations, Compliance, Legal, and Risk on fraud control enhancements, law enforcement information requests, and regulatory response support
Proactively identify regulatory risks related to fraud in your product line(s) and adjacent areas, including obligations under OCC Bulletin 2019-37, FFIEC BSA/AML Manual, Red Flags Rule (12 CFR Part 41, Subpart J), 12 CFR 21.11, and product-specific fraud risk requirements
Support examination readiness by maintaining audit-ready fraud investigation case records, typology documentation, and program evidence aligned with OCC, FDIC, and CFPB expectations
Minimum Qualifications
3+ years of experience in fraud investigation, fraud analytics, or financial crimes within consumer lending, banking, or a regulated financial institution
Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
Experience investigating consumer lending fraud — including application fraud, identity fraud, income/employment misrepresentation, and collateral fraud
Experience preparing fraud investigation case documentation — fact and evidence assembly, typology analysis, and written escalation packages for compliance or legal review
Familiarity with SAR referral processes, 12 CFR 21.11 SAR thresholds and timelines
Working knowledge of BSA/AML program requirements applicable to consumer lending, including CIP/CDD, OFAC screening, suspicious activity monitoring, and Red Flags Rule obligations
Working knowledge of OCC enterprise fraud risk management and FFIEC BSA/AML Manual requirements relevant to fraud investigation and suspicious activity reporting
Experience with fraud trend analysis — application fraud rate monitoring, typology identification, channel and geographic concentration analysis
Ability to manage own workload, meet deadlines, and proactively communicate risk to timelines with minimal supervision
Strong cross-functional collaboration skills — able to work effectively with Operations, Compliance, Legal, and Risk on fraud escalation and control improvement initiatives
Preferred Qualifications
Experience investigating dealer channel fraud, including power booking, ghost down payments, straw purchases, VIN cloning, title washing, and F&I product abuse
Experience maintaining dealer-level fraud scorecards and pattern-based dealer monitoring or suspension workflows
Experience investigating collateral fraud typologies in home equity lending — occupancy misrepresentation, appraisal inflation, undisclosed liabilities/loan stacking
Familiarity with CIP/CDD execution requirements and fraud red flags in account draw activity and maintenance
Experience identifying fraud indicators across income, identity, appraisal, and title documentation within origination files
Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) designation or active progress toward CFE certification
Experience with fraud metrics reporting to management committees (Credit Committee, Risk Committee, or equivalent)
Familiarity with EPD review processes and OCC fraud loss classification requirements
Ability to translate investigation findings into structured, examination-ready documentation for OCC, FDIC, or CFPB review
Collaborative approach to working across fraud, compliance, legal, and quality control functions in a fast-paced fintech environment

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability
Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026
Why are you being asked to complete this form?
We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.
A disability is a condition that substantially limits one or more of your “major life activities.” If you have or have ever had such a condition, you are a person with a disability. Disabilities include, but are not limited to:
Alcohol or other substance use disorder (not currently using drugs illegally)
