OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026
Why are you being asked to complete this form?
We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.
Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
How do you know if you have a disability?

OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026
Why are you being asked to complete this form?
We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal.

The Team
Upstart’s Secured Lending organization is building the first-line risk and control infrastructure that will support the next stage of growth across home equity line of credit, auto direct, and auto indirect dealer products. The team helps ensure secured lending products operate with clear governance, durable controls, high-quality execution, and readiness for bank partner and regulatory review.
Loan Salability & First-Line Model Governance monitors portfolio-wide trends across loan salability, asset quality, and model performance. The team tracks results against investor and bank partner thresholds, interprets model execution patterns across secured lending channels, and escalates systemic findings before they become repurchase events, partner concerns, or examination issues.
As an Analyst, Loan Salability & First-Line Model Governance at Upstart, you will support the day-to-day execution of this function by conducting loan-level reviews, organizing portfolio and model performance data, maintaining tracking tools, documenting findings, and preparing reporting and governance deliverables. You will report to the Senior Manager, Loan Salability & First-Line Model and work closely with Credit Risk, Capital Markets, Model Risk Management, Operations, and other secured lending partners.
How you'll make an impact
Execute loan-level quality reviews across secured lending originations, assessing documentation completeness, underwriting accuracy, eligibility adherence, collateral quality, and other salability criteria.
Pull, organize, and analyze portfolio performance data, including early payment defaults, delinquency trends, prepayment rates, loss severity, exception patterns, and other asset quality indicators.
Maintain recurring asset quality and salability risk reporting packages for bank partners, Capital Markets, and internal leaders, including data pulls, analysis, formatting, and quality checks.
Execute first-line model performance tracking — maintaining production model tracking tools, logging override and exception trends, tracking version changes, and independently flagging patterns that may indicate performance degradation or out-of-bounds behavior for escalation.
Maintain issue logs, defect trackers, remediation updates, and documentation libraries so records stay current, organized, and ready for bank partner or regulatory review.
Drive governance and exam readiness deliverables — independently assembling evidence packages, populating reporting templates, and coordinating materials for bank partner reviews, committee deliverables, and regulatory examinations.
Minimum Qualifications
3+ years of experience in financial services, credit operations, quality control, risk management, compliance, model monitoring, loan review, credit analysis, or a related analytical function.
Experience applying established review criteria to loan-level data, credit files, origination documentation, collateral documentation, or lending operations outputs.
Experience analyzing portfolio performance, asset quality indicators, credit policy exceptions, loan defects, remediation items, or operational risk trends.
Experience using Excel, Google Sheets, SQL, business intelligence tools, reporting tools, or similar systems to organize, analyze, and quality-check structured data.
Experience documenting findings, exceptions, issue status, remediation progress, or review results for risk, compliance, credit, operations, audit, bank partner, or regulatory stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with loan file review, quality control, pre-sale quality control, investor delivery, or loan salability review in mortgage, home equity, auto, or other secured lending products.
Knowledge of secured lending and secondary-market quality expectations, including investor eligibility standards, collateral documentation, lien perfection, representations and warranties, defect remediation, trailing performance thresholds, or repurchase risk.
Experience tracking and interpreting asset quality or portfolio performance indicators such as early payment default, delinquency, prepayment, loss severity, non-performing loan trends, or credit policy exception rates.
Knowledge of model monitoring concepts, model performance reporting, validation outputs, override and exception tracking, or model governance documentation in a lending or fintech environment.
Skilled in producing clear review summaries, governance materials, issue logs, reporting packages, and documentation that can support bank partner or regulatory review.

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

About Upstart
At Upstart, we’re united by a mission that matters: to radically reduce the cost and complexity of borrowing for all Americans. Every day, we bring creativity, experimentation, and advanced AI to reshape access to credit, helping millions move forward financially with clarity and confidence.
As the leading AI lending marketplace, we partner with banks and credit unions to expand access to affordable credit through technology that’s both radically intelligent and deeply human. Our platform runs over one million predictions per borrower using more than 3,000 signals, powering smarter, fairer decisions for millions of customers. But the numbers only hint at the impact. Every idea, every voice, and every contribution moves us closer to a world where credit never stands between people and their financial progress.
We’re proudly digital-first, giving most Upstarters the flexibility to do their best work from wherever they thrive, alongside teammates across 80+ cities in the US and Canada. Digital-first doesn’t mean distant. We’re intentional about in-person connection through team onsites, planning sessions, and moments that spark creativity and trust. And whether you choose to work primarily from home or collaborate in-person from one of our offices in Columbus, Austin, the Bay Area, or New York City (opening Summer 2026), you’ll have the support to work in the way that works best for you.
If you’re energized by tackling meaningful problems, excited to innovate with purpose, and motivated by work that truly matters, we’d love to hear from you.
The Team:
Upstart's Growth Compliance team partners with Marketing, Product, Legal, and second-line Compliance to help the business grow responsibly. The team enables the launch of marketing campaigns, customer experiences, and lending products by providing practical, risk-based compliance guidance that supports innovation while meeting consumer protection requirements.
As the Compliance & Controls Manager, you'll serve as a trusted first-line compliance partner for Upstart's Growth organization. This is a First Line of Defense (1LOD) role, working directly with the business to enable growth while managing risk. Unlike Upstart's Second Line of Defense (2LOD) Compliance and Risk teams, this role is embedded with the business, helping shape customer experiences and product initiatives before they launch.
This is an opportunity to help build and scale Upstart's first-line Growth Compliance function. During your first year, you'll play a key role in developing review frameworks, operating processes, and scalable ways of working that support new marketing, advertising, customer experience, and partnership initiatives as the business continues to grow.
How you’ll make an impact
Review marketing campaigns, customer communications, partner materials, and product launches to ensure compliance with applicable consumer protection laws and regulations before launch.
Partner closely with Marketing, Product, Legal, and second-line Compliance to provide practical, risk-based guidance that enables timely business decisions while managing regulatory risk.
Apply regulatory frameworks, including UDAAP and other consumer protection requirements, to evaluate new marketing claims, customer journeys, and emerging product experiences.
Help build and scale the team's first-line compliance operating model by developing practical review frameworks, governance, and processes that support a growing business.
Develop and continuously improve scalable review processes, procedures, checklists, and guidance that increase consistency and reduce review cycle times as the business grows.
Identify recurring compliance themes and recommend process improvements that strengthen first-line risk management and reduce future operational risk.
Leverage internal tooling and Generative AI solutions to improve review efficiency, document guidance, and enhance compliance workflows while applying appropriate human judgment
Minimum Qualifications
7+ years of experience reviewing marketing, advertising, or customer-facing content for compliance within banking, fintech, consumer lending, or another highly regulated industry.
Experience applying consumer protection regulations, including UDAAP and one or more of the following: Regulation B, TCPA, CAN-SPAM, or Fair Lending requirements.
Experience managing high-volume compliance reviews while meeting competing deadlines and supporting multiple concurrent product or marketing initiatives.
Experience partnering cross-functionally with Product, Marketing, Legal, or Compliance stakeholders to support product launches or marketing initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of secured lending products, including HELOC or other secured consumer lending products.
Knowledge of compliance considerations related to AI-enabled customer experiences or automated decisioning.
Ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into practical guidance, procedures, and scalable review processes.
Experience using Generative AI tools to improve research, documentation, or compliance review workflows.
Ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and build trusted partnerships in a fast-paced environment.
Position location This role is available in the following locations: Remote
Time zone requirements The team operates on the East & West coast time zones.
Travel requirements As a digital first company, the majority of your work can be accomplished remotely. The majority of our employees can live and work anywhere in the U.S but are encouraged to to still spend high quality time in-person collaborating via regular onsites. The in-person sessions’ cadence varies depending on the team and role; most teams meet once or twice per quarter for 2-4 consecutive days at a time.

The Team:
Help Upstart become the world’s most radically pro-consumer company in finance! As we continue building toward long-term customer trust, deeper engagement, and lifetime value, platform investments are becoming increasingly important across the customer journey. Rather than owning individual customer experiences, platform product teams develop the core capabilities that allow feature teams to innovate faster while improving reliability, scalability, and regulatory readiness.
As the Principal Product Manager, Communications Platform, you will drive a greenfield initiative to establish the shared communications foundation for the company. Working closely with Engineering, Compliance, Risk, and product leaders across the business, you'll define the long-term vision for how communications are delivered, orchestrated, governed, and measured across every customer touchpoint. Your work will enable product teams to deliver more personalized, trusted experiences while providing the platform capabilities, compliance guardrails, and shared infrastructure needed to support both today's products and the next generation of AI-powered customer interactions.
How you’ll make an impact
Define and execute the product strategy and roadmap for Upstart's Communications Platform, balancing immediate business needs with a long-term platform vision.
Partner with engineering to build shared platform capabilities, including messaging APIs, delivery infrastructure, governance controls, and communication data models that support multiple products and channels.
Establish scalable platform abstractions that enable product teams to deliver customer communications more efficiently while reducing duplicated engineering effort.
Drive alignment across Engineering, Growth, Servicing, Capital, Banking, Compliance, Risk, and other cross-functional partners to prioritize platform investments and influence company-wide technical strategy.
Develop platform capabilities that improve regulatory compliance, auditability, and operational visibility through standardized controls and monitoring.
Define success metrics, evaluate platform performance, and use data and customer insights to continuously improve platform adoption, reliability, and business impact.
Evaluate external technologies and vendor partnerships that extend platform capabilities and support future product strategy.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
7+ years of product management experience building software products
Experience leading platform, infrastructure, or developer platform products in a software organization.
Experience partnering closely with engineering teams to define APIs, platform capabilities, or distributed systems.
Experience leading cross-functional product initiatives involving engineering and business stakeholders from strategy through successful delivery.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience building or scaling communications, messaging, engagement, or customer interaction platforms.
Experience in fintech, financial services, marketplaces, or other highly regulated industries.
Knowledge of regulatory compliance considerations for customer communications and platform governance.
Ability to develop long-term platform strategy while balancing near-term product delivery and organizational priorities.
Experience communicating technical strategy and influencing executive stakeholders across multiple organizations.
