The Software Quality Operations (SWQOPS) team is at the heart of ensuring the safety, reliability, and quality of the Waymo Driver. Our mission is to build an adaptable and scalable operation, increasingly powered by AI, to deliver the crucial insights necessary to confidently deploy and grow Waymo's autonomous vehicle service.

    In this role you will:

• Partner with Engineering to design, test, and deploy cutting-edge Machine Learning (ML) and Generative AI (Gen-AI) models and tools to drive step-change improvements in issue discovery & detection, triage efficiency, and quality assurance.
• Leverage AI-powered insights and traditional triage signals to proactively identify emerging on-road issue trends, new risk scenarios, and edge cases. Develop and refine data-driven strategies for issue discovery and monitoring, enhanced by ML model outputs
• Serve as the key link between AI/ML development and operational execution. Define and document new policies, guidelines, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that integrate AI tools and insights into daily vendor workflows.
• Design and implement robust quality control processes for both human and AI-generated outputs. Perform meta-quality checks, validate the integrity of vendor work, and provide feedback to improve both human and model performance.
• Act as the subject matter expert for our Software Quality Operations, working closely with stakeholders, program leads, and vendor teams to ensure seamless adoption and maximum impact of AI/ML advancements in our quality processes. Be the trusted source for creating and updating technical policies, guidelines, and standard operating procedures for new scopes, platforms, and driving signals
• Provide technical leadership and consultation to stakeholders to enhance our workflows and quality. You'll be at the forefront of identifying and escalating issues with our tools, providing technical requirements to engineering, and driving user testing to support the development and deployment of new tooling features.
• A proven ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stress environment while maintaining good judgment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with a wide range of individuals in a diverse and dynamic work environment.

     You have:

• BS/BA degree or 4 years of relevant work experience in AV Software Quality Operations
• Increased competency in supporting all phases of the machine learning development lifecycle, from data preparation and training to validation, deployment, and continuous monitoring.
• Experience with ML testing and validation, including dataset quality assurance, bias detection, edge-case scenario testing, and performance evaluation using statistical metrics.
• Ability to quickly learn and implement new concepts and utilize proprietary tools. Strong understanding of driving rules and regulations.
• Must have the ability to provide occasional on-call availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays, as well as the flexibility to attend meetings outside of standard hours to collaborate with our global team.

• Demonstrated strong execution with ability to drive outcomes. 
• Experience working with offshore teams / multiple local operations hubs.
• Basic SQL querying.
• Competency in LLM / transformer models, and / or ML for robotics domain experience.
• A greater focus on using your subject matter expertise for results analysis and direct customer consultation in the development of new and improved. solutions.
• Self-motivated with basic skills in task planning and time management.

You will:

• Design Scalable Processes: Build and own the global framework for Global Operations Center capacity planning, acting as the primary program manager for resource scaling.

• Navigate Operational Ambiguity: Apply strong business judgment to ensure resource strategies accurately reflect commercial targets (cars, trips, revenue) and real-world operational constraints.

• Drive Vendor Accountability: Oversee execution across large, cross-organization vendor partnerships, prioritizing structural efficiency models and strict SLA compliance.

• Shape Executive Narratives: Provide critical input to decision-makers by translating complex capacity models into decisive narratives with clear P&L implications.

• Mitigate Operational Risk: Identify risks and advocate for structural fixes and "principled spending" rather than relying on temporary resource additions.

• Validate Technical Models: Periodically perform technical deep-dives to ensure mathematical and capacity models remain transparent, verifiable, and free of "black box" assumptions.

• Architect Advanced Models: Partner with Product, Engineering, and Data Science to deploy models within centralized planning ecosystems (like Anaplan) to meet evolving requirements.

You have:

• Educational Foundation: Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Supply Chain, Operations Management, Finance, or equivalent practical experience.

• Planning Expertise: 5+ years of experience driving outcomes in capacity planning, commercial operations, S&OP, or strategic program management.

• Cross-Organizational Leadership: Proven ability to drive collaborations with strategic partnership teams and proactively manage dependencies during high-growth phases.

• Mastery of Communication: Exemplary presentation skills with the confidence to establish the "source of truth" and influence senior decision-makers.

• Tooling Fluency: Direct expertise building and maintaining capacity models and roadmaps within scaled enterprise platforms like Anaplan.

• Technical Literacy: Proficiency with data querying (SQL) and foundational quantitative modeling to effectively guide technical partners and validate data.

• Advanced Education: MBA or Master's degree in Business Administration, Operations, or a related field.

• AV Industry Experience: Experience scaling "human-in-the-loop" oversight operations for autonomous vehicles while managing complex dependencies.

In this remote role, you will report to an Operations Planning Manager

You will:

• Represent operations within cross-functional planning processes and partner closely with regional leadership and product teams. You will ensure that the local operational nuances of your territory are fully captured, actively influencing and informing the broader commercial plans for each of your markets
• Drive comprehensive planning cycles with key stakeholders, understanding every working nuance of your markets to optimize operations across all intersecting areas of planning, product, and execution.
  Integrate across models to understand and represent the operational capacity of your territory. You must be able to conduct rigorous scenario planning to answer complex "what-if" scenarios, extracting deep operational insights that bridge localized market performance with integrated team plans.
• Uplevel core planning software and methodologies, applying modeling expertise to ensure accurate forecasting and seamless alignment with corporate strategy.
• Support business optimization initiatives, utilizing your strategic regional knowledge to translate inputs on local friction—such as seasonality, events, market dynamics, operational and infrastructure constraints—into broader cross-functional business processes to ensure commercial success.
• Distill complex operational narratives from regional happenings to elevate business review meetings, conducting continuous "performance bridging" to trace key metrics to their systemic root causes, and then feed those bridges and insights back into their commercial plans

You have:

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Finance, Business Analytics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of relevant professional experience in business planning, demand & supply planning, cross functional program management, financial planning, or a highly analytical business function, ideally in a high-velocity growth environment
• Deep, hands-on expertise in navigating, auditing, and building highly detailed models within either enterprise planning platforms or advanced spreadsheet environments.
• The ability to distill highly complex operational data and technical what-if scenarios into clear, executive-level narratives that drive high-stakes business reviews.
• Demonstrated success operating within a highly matrixed organization, expertly driving alignment, negotiating priorities, and ensuring unified execution across operations, product, finance, and corporate strategy.

We prefer:

• Master's degree required (MBA strongly preferred) in Finance, Economics, Operations Research, or a related quantitative discipline.
• Experience planning and managing ride-hailing networks, demonstrated understanding of network capacity, localized supply-demand balancing, and ride-hailing marketplace dynamics.
• Experience with large-scale vehicle fleets and coordinating with third-party operators and enterprise partner ecosystems.
• Demonstrated knowledge of SQL to manipulate underlying data schemas, clean and distill business data, and build custom statistical models where needed.
• Experience wit supply-demand planning in Anaplan
