About Wefunder
We're the Robinhood for pre-IPO startups. We allow everyone to invest $100 in a startup they love.
Over the past five years, we've helped fund over 900 startups with $500m – including flying cars, space rockets, breweries, Hollywood studios, and potential Ebola cures.
We’re now doubling the size of our team to handle the growth. Trying to keep up!
We’re also a public benefit corporation with a mission of saving the American Dream (https://wefunder.com/charter). Our aim is to sprinkle the Silicon Valley fairy dust across the rest of the country, which often don’t have the same opportunities we take for granted.
About the role
We help everyday people invest in the startups they love.
Wefunder is the largest funding platform connecting founders with their community to become investors. Over the past few years, we've helped fund thousands of startups with over $1B+ in capital, from early-stage moonshots to wildly successful unicorns.
In 2021, regulatory reform put Community Rounds on the map. Since then, we’ve helped startups like Substack, Mercury, Levels, and many others raise money from their customers and community. We built this space from the ground up. Now we're hiring a Customer Success Intern to help our investors, build useful tools with AI, and make the whole operation run better.
This is a position based out of our headquarters in San Francisco, CA.
Our Dream Candidate
You’re energized by helping people. When somebody's confused or stuck, your first instinct is to actually solve their problem, not hide behind a canned response.
You thrive in fast-paced environments and you’re constantly teaching yourself new things.
You’re organized, accountable, and have incredibly high standards. You sweat the small stuff when it matters. Money, taxes, legal paperwork. You double-check, then you triple-check.
You love building better systems and want to leave your mark by making things better.
You've never vibe-coded before? Cool. You just have to seriously want to learn. If the idea of working with an AI agent to build a tool sounds exciting (not scary), keep reading.
You don't need hand-holding. If something's broken, you poke at it. If you don't know the answer, you go find it. If you said you'd do something, it gets done.
Responsibilities
This is a 6-month internship, July through December. Here's what you'll actually be doing:
Talking to investors. You'll be on email threads and video calls helping real humans figure out real problems: wrong tax form, lost login, "wait, what did I invest in again?" You'll start with the easier stuff and work your way up.
Learning to vibe-code. We'll set you up with Cursor, Claude Code, and Codex on day one. You don't need to know them yet. You do need to get good at them, fast. We'll help.
Fixing bugs. When something breaks in the investor flow, you'll dig in. Reproduce it, figure out what's going on, and eventually ship fixes yourself.
Building tools for the team. Scripts, Slackbots, mini-dashboards, whatever saves us time. Your first one will probably be rough. By December, your output should be useful and impressively powerful.
Helping out when things get a bit chaotic. Taxes, big raises, and seasonal volume. You roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty.
Noticing patterns. If ten investors ask you the same question, that's a help doc waiting to happen, or a bug, or a product gap the team should know about. You'll flag it and own the solution.
Skills & Experience
You're reliable. If you said you'd do it, you do it. You follow up to the very last detail.
You thrive in ambiguity. That should sound fun, not stressful.
You communicate and write like a human. Clear, warm, no jargon, no "per my last email."
You're fired up about AI. You don't need to have used these tools before, but you do need to want to learn them badly enough to spend evenings poking around and getting up-to-speed.
You're in school, a recent graduate, or taking a gap year. Any major. Customer-facing experience is highly preferred.
Compensation
$25/hour
This is an internship opportunity. No benefits, 401(k), equity, etc.
You’ll get a laptop and a seat at our San Francisco headquarters.
How to Apply
Submit your application via our listing on YC’s Work At A Startup platform.
We love personal touches. Feel free to send us a message and include one of the following (totally optional, but brownie points!):
Survival Skills: One skill you’d offer the team in a post-apocalyptic world.
Overnight Expert: You wake up and you are an expert in any skill you want. What do you choose and why?
Oh Shit Moment: Tell us about your biggest “oh shit!” moment that produced real growth. How did you diagnose it and grow moving forward?
(If you pick this one, your initial screener will share their biggest failure as a Wefunder team member. It’s only fair!)
If you feel you don’t meet all the requirements, we still encourage you to apply. Don’t let a confidence gap or imposter syndrome stand in the way of meeting great people.
About Wefunder
In May 2016, it became legal for regular people to invest as little as $100 in startups and small businesses. Since then, Wefunder has become the largest equity crowdfunding platform. We’ve helped hundreds of startups and small businesses - flying cars, space rockets, breweries, Hollywood studios, and more - raise millions of dollars. We’re a Public Benefit Corporation on a mission to revitalize capitalism and keep the American dream alive by funding deserving businesses across America, not just Silicon Valley tech. We’re a scrappy team of founder types who enjoy autonomy, responsibility, and learning by doing.

About the role
About Wefunder
We've raised over a billion dollars for thousands of founders in all 50 states, from ostrich farms to unicorns like Substack, Replit, & Mercury.
We're a Public Benefit Corporation with a mission to keep the American dream alive. We're fighting to keep America defined by optimism, innovation, and opportunity—the best place for the ambitious to turn ideas into reality.
We believe America is full of untapped talent, and that helping more founders get off the ground leads to a better future. Our goal is to help 20,000 more founders get off the ground. We're just getting started.
We're a team of founder types: enjoy autonomy, responsibility, the opportunity to learn, and no red tape. Just make it happen.
The Role
Wefunder Syndicates lets angel investors and fund managers pool capital to back startups together. It's a fast-growing part of our business — and we need someone to own it.
You'll be our first dedicated sales hire for Syndicates. That means building the playbook from scratch: finding the right leads, closing deals, and figuring out what makes syndicate leads choose us over the alternatives. You'll work directly with angel investors, rolling fund managers, and VCs who want a better way to bring their communities into deals.
This isn't enterprise sales with a 12-month cycle. It's fast, relationship-driven, and founder-like. You'll be talking to people who invest for a living — they're sharp, they move quickly, and they don't have patience for fluff. If you can earn their trust and show them why Wefunder is the best platform for their syndicate, you'll do extremely well here.
We're very good at figuring out visa sponsorship when required.
Location & Culture
We're strong believers in an in-person culture. Our HQ is in San Francisco — we have two offices, one in the Mission and one in Seacliff with a view of the Golden Gate Bridge.
We're a small team of ~30 that hires carefully. In this new AI world, one star can outcompete 10 average people. We'd rather stay lean, move fast, and spend our time building — not navigating big-company bureaucracy.
We're tight-knit enough to spend 10 days on a train together without killing each other. Four times over the years, we've all taken the Amtrak coast to coast, stopping in 12 cities. We're a team of doers and thinkers who are insatiably curious — not just about work, but about kickboxing, mountaineering, chess, and everything in between.

What We're Looking For
Own the pipeline end-to-end.
Source, qualify, and close syndicate leads — from first outreach to signed deal. No SDR team, no hand-offs. You run the whole show.
Build the playbook.
We don't have a sales playbook for Syndicates yet. You'll create one. Figure out who our best customers are, what messaging resonates, and how to scale what works.
Be the voice of the customer.
You'll be talking to angel investors and fund managers every day. Feed what you learn back to product and engineering so we build the right things. Your insights will shape the roadmap.
Close with conviction.
You genuinely believe in what we're building. You're not reading a script — you understand how syndicates work, why Wefunder is different, and you can articulate that to sophisticated investors on the fly.
Move fast and iterate.
Try channels, test pitches, kill what doesn't work. We'd rather you run 10 experiments and fail on 7 than spend a month perfecting a deck.
Requirements
Investor fluency
You understand how venture capital, angel investing, and syndicates actually work. You can speak the language — carry, management fees, SPVs, pro-rata — without faking it.
Closer, not a talker
You have a track record of actually closing deals, not just filling pipelines. You know how to create urgency without being pushy and how to handle objections from smart, skeptical people.
Founder energy
You operate like a founder — resourceful, scrappy, and relentless. You don't wait for leads to come to you. You don't need a manager checking in. You just go.
Relationship builder
The best syndicate leads come from trust, not cold outreach. You naturally build strong relationships in the investor community and people take your calls.
Comfort with ambiguity
We're building this as we go. The product is evolving, the market is shifting, and regulation is changing. You thrive in that environment — not despite the uncertainty, but because of it.
Benefits
Competitive base salary plus uncapped carry and equity
Unlimited vacation days (mandatory 3 weeks off)
Medical, dental, & vision insurance
401K
Unlimited AI tokens & tool budget — Cursor, Claude, Codex, you name it
Apple equipment — whatever you want
Lots of free food and drinks
Reimbursement for classes and conferences
Brownie Points
You've run or invested through a syndicate yourself — you've felt the pain points firsthand.
You have an existing network of angel investors, fund managers, or VC operators.
You've sold a fintech or marketplace product in a regulated industry.
You're a former founder or a future one — the problem we're working to solve feels personal to you.

The Role
We're looking for a designer who obsesses over how things feel — the 200ms fade that makes a page feel alive, the hover state that invites a click, the scroll animation that makes you want to keep going.
Wefunder moves real money. People are making investment decisions on our platform. The difference between a UI that feels trustworthy and one that feels sketchy often comes down to the micro-details: timing curves, easing functions, loading states, transitions between views. That's your world.
You'll work alongside our Lead Designer and engineers to bring polish and life to every surface of the product. You're not just designing screens — you're choreographing how the whole experience moves.
We're very good at figuring out visa sponsorship when required.

What We're Looking For
Motion is your medium.
You think in keyframes and easing curves. You know the difference between ease-out and cubic-bezier(0.16, 1, 0.3, 1) — and you have an opinion about when to use each. Animation isn't decoration to you; it's communication.
Pixel-perfect eye.
You see the 1px misalignment everyone else missed. You notice when letter-spacing is off by 0.02em. You're the person who screenshots a UI and circles the thing that's bugging you before anyone else even noticed.
Ship it, don't just spec it.
You can build what you design. Whether it's CSS animations, Framer Motion, Lottie, or GSAP — you're comfortable implementing your own work in code. Bonus if you're using AI tools like Cursor or Replit to move even faster.
Taste over trends.
You have a strong point of view on what looks and feels good. You're inspired by great product design — Linear, Stripe, Arc — but you don't cargo-cult. You develop your own sensibility and defend it.
Speed matters.
You don't spend three weeks on a transition spec. You prototype fast, ship it, see how it feels in production, and iterate. Perfection is the result of fast loops, not slow deliberation.
Requirements
AI-native designer
You use AI tools to prototype and build. Cursor, Claude, Replit, Midjourney — whatever gets you from idea to implementation fastest. The days of a designer silo'd off in Figma are numbered, and you know it.
Fluent in code
You can read and write CSS, work with React components, and implement animations directly in the codebase. You don't need an engineer to translate your vision — you can put it in the product yourself.
Visual storytelling
You understand how motion, color, and typography work together to create an emotional response. You can make a landing page feel exciting or a settings page feel calm — and you know why those are different problems.
Systems thinker
You don't just design one-off animations. You build reusable motion patterns and interaction primitives that work across the entire product. Consistency at scale.
Example Projects
Investment Flow Polish
The moment someone invests on Wefunder should feel significant — not like clicking 'Add to Cart.' Design the transitions, confirmations, and celebratory moments that make investing feel like the big deal it is.
Page Transitions & Scroll Animations
Our marketing pages and founder profiles need to feel alive. Design and implement scroll-driven animations, page transitions, and reveal patterns that make people want to keep scrolling.
Component Motion Library
Build a library of reusable micro-interactions — button hovers, card expansions, modal entrances, toast notifications — that give the entire product a cohesive, polished feel.
Dark Mode Transitions
We use dramatic light-to-dark transitions across our pages. Push these further — make the mode shifts feel cinematic, not just a color swap.
Benefits
$130k – $200k plus equity depending on experience
Unlimited vacation days (mandatory 3 weeks off)
Medical, dental, & vision insurance
401K
Unlimited AI tokens & tool budget — Cursor, Claude, Codex, you name it
Apple equipment — whatever you want
Lots of free food and drinks
Reimbursement for classes and conferences
Brownie Points
You've built scroll-driven animations or page transitions that made people say 'whoa.'
You have a portfolio full of things that <em>move</em>, not just static mockups.
You've worked on a product where trust and credibility mattered — fintech, health, commerce.
You're a former founder or a future one — the problem we're working to solve feels personal to you.

What We're Looking For
AI-excited
The days of a designer silo'd off in Figma are numbered — all roles are merging. You live-prototype your designs with AI tools like Cursor, Claude, Codex, or Replit, and you can train AI models to execute your design system so every engineer ships on-brand by default.
Simplifies complexity
The law is complicated — often, a web page might have a dozen variations for legal reasons. You'll need an engineering-like brain to keep track of these details, while still being an empath to understand our users.
Thrives in chaos
You love working in a small team in a fast-moving startup. You love ambiguity. You love taking initiative and not being told what to do. You want to work hard because that's how to maximize learning and impact.
Pixel-perfect eye
Your portfolio is beautiful. You bleed minimalism, simplicity, and micro-animations. If it's not pixel-perfect, it drives you crazy.
Can ship code
You can code up some CSS and HTML in a pinch and submit to a git repository. We don't expect full-fledged engineering skills, but believe that designers who understand the medium are better at their jobs.
User-obsessed
You are excited to talk to and learn from our users: both founders raising money and investors backing them.
Taste, not just data
You have good judgement on when to A/B test and use data... and when to lead with taste.
Example Projects
New Design System
Redesign Wefunder with a new, more modern design system. We have a lot of design debt. While you're onboarding, you'll help modernize Wefunder incrementally — one of the best ways to get context.
Social Investing
Help us reach the next level of product-market fit. Can investors feel more "behind the scenes" and emotionally invested? Can investing in ideas they support be part of their identity? Can we build the community layer that makes Wefunder more than just a payment pipe?
Design Resource for Engineers
Be the go-to resource when engineers need design help with whatever they're working on. Every engineer also has the autonomy to contribute to product — your job is to raise the bar for everyone.
AI Design Ops
Build the playbook for AI-assisted design at Wefunder. Train models on our design system so any engineer — or agent — can ship pixel-perfect UI without a designer in the loop. Define the prompts, guardrails, and review workflows that make this actually work at scale.
Benefits
$160k – $250k plus equity depending on experience
Unlimited vacation days (mandatory 3 weeks off)
Medical, dental, & vision insurance
401K
Unlimited AI tokens & tool budget — Cursor, Claude, Codex, you name it
Apple equipment — whatever you want
Lots of free food and drinks
Reimbursement for classes and conferences
Brownie Points
You've worked at a company where design was a competitive advantage — not an afterthought.
You've designed for fintech, marketplaces, or products where trust and clarity are everything.
You are a former founder or a future one — the problem we're working to solve feels personal to you.
You've shipped products where the design made users feel something — not just function, but delight.
