About the Role

We are looking for a Pricing Strategist to shape how we price and monetize OpenAI’s API platform. You’ll own the end-to-end pricing strategy across model launches, price architecture, packaging, commitments and discounts, and monetization guardrails. You’ll work closely with senior leaders across Product, Engineering, Data Science, GTM, and Finance to define pricing approaches, improve commercial decision-making, and bring more rigor to how we monetize our API offerings.

You should be comfortable building monetization frameworks and commercial policies, analyzing tradeoffs, supporting high-impact decisions and driving decision making. You should also care deeply about the customer perspective and believe that strong pricing reflects a real understanding of customer value, needs, and friction points in order to build pricing that is clear, fair, and aligned with how customers experience our products. This role will report to the Head of Product Pricing for API & Platform.

What you’ll do

• Develop the end-to-end pricing strategy for our API platform, including model launch pricing, price architecture, packaging, discount logic, and monetization guardrails.

• Recommend pricing for new models, capabilities, and platform offerings, and develop innovative commercial constructs that better serve API customers.

• Partner with Product, Engineering, Data Science, Finance, and GTM leaders to ensure pricing aligns with product value, roadmap, commercial motions, and overall growth plans.

• Develop clear recommendations that are grounded in customer preferences, product value, and market dynamics.

• Establish lightweight but effective pricing governance, including decision frameworks, approval processes, and performance tracking.

You might thrive in this role if you

• Have 6+ years of relevant experience in pricing, monetization, product strategy, business operations, consulting, or a related field.

• Have 3+ years of direct experience in pricing and monetization.

• Have a strong track record of developing and shipping successful pricing and monetization strategies across both self-serve and sales-led motions.

• Are deeply familiar with consumption-based pricing and the monetization of API, infrastructure, developer-platform, or other usage-driven products.

• Can build rigorous analytical and financial models and translate technical cost, usage, and customer data into clear recommendations.

• Can balance customer value, product strategy, technical economics, and commercial outcomes in a thoughtful way.

• Are comfortable influencing senior cross-functional stakeholders and navigating ambiguous, high-stakes decisions.

• Are a self-starter who can roll up their sleeves, learn technical concepts quickly, and operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-ambiguity environment.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly technical Economist to join the OpenAI Economic Research team studying the real-world economic impacts of AI.

This role is designed for economists with up to 5 years of professional experience post-Ph.D. who are interested in using novel, large-scale datasets to study how AI is reshaping economic systems. We are looking for candidates with deep expertise in at least one core domain relevant to AI’s economic impact, and an interest in contributing to a broader research agenda spanning labor markets, firm behavior, market dynamics, and macroeconomic change. This is an individual contributor role where the candidate will organize and execute on their own data-oriented projects.

You will work at the intersection of economic research, data science, and public policy to produce rigorous empirical work that informs decision-makers across the public, industry, and government.

Research Areas of Interest

We are particularly interested in candidates with demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following areas:

• Economic Measurement of AI Impact (e.g., adoption trajectories, labor market transitions, productivity growth, and forecasting/scenario modeling for AI-driven economic change)

• Macroeconomic Implications of AI (e.g., productivity, technology diffusion, economic growth)

• AI and the Labor Market (e.g., employment, wages, job search, task-level impacts, skill acquisition)

In this role, you will:

• Design and execute empirical research using large-scale observational or experimental data.

• Apply causal inference and/or structural modeling techniques to study AI-driven economic change.

About the Team

The Infrastructure Engineering function sits within IT and is responsible for reliably building, deploying, and operating critical on prem and hybrid environments that power internal services and critical R&D environments.

This is an early, high-leverage technical role focused on applying strong Site Reliability Engineering discipline to environments where uptime, safety, recoverability, and security are non-negotiable. This person helps replace bespoke, one-off infrastructure with standardized infrastructure-as-code building blocks that compound reliability and operational leverage as OpenAI scales.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Site Reliability Engineer working on security infrastructure to design, build, and operate reliable, secure, and scalable infrastructure that underpins identity, access, endpoint, and shared platform services across the company.

In this role, you will be a senior technical owner for infrastructure and identity systems end to end, from architecture and implementation through policy enforcement, upgrades, recovery, and day-two operations. You will build durable, production-grade platforms that remove operational friction, enforce security by default, and enable teams to move faster with confidence.

This role is well suited for a hands-on senior engineer who thrives in ambiguity, enjoys owning complex systems end to end, and raises the reliability and security bar by replacing fragile implementations with standardized, repeatable infrastructure.

This role is based in our San Francisco HQ and requires in-office presence.

In this role, you will:

• Design, build, and operate reliable infrastructure across on-prem, hybrid, shared, and product adjacent environments.

• Establish standardized infrastructure patterns that replace bespoke implementations with repeatable, auditable, secure-by-default systems.

• Own the lifecycle of critical infrastructure platforms, including provisioning, deployment, upgrades, patching, recovery, and long-term reliability.

• Build infrastructure-as-code and configuration management using tools such as Terraform, Chef, and Ansible.

• Mature identity adjacent and policy enforced infrastructure, including Microsoft Entra and Azure management patterns.

• Build observability, alerting, and incident response mechanisms that improve availability, recoverability, and operational confidence.

• Automate high-toil and high-risk workflows with guardrails, progressive rollout patterns, and safe rollback paths.

• Translate incidents, design reviews, and operational learnings into durable fixes, reusable patterns, and stronger technical standards.

• Influence cross-functional partners across security, identity, network, and platform teams through architecture, implementation, operational data, and clear technical writing

You might thrive in this role if you:

• Have 10+ years of hands-on experience operating and architecting mission-critical infrastructure in high-reliability environments

• Have experience running Security Infrastructure

• Have been the senior technical owner for the design and maturation of complex on-prem, hybrid, or cloud-integrated systems, setting durable architectural patterns used by multiple teams

• Apply Site Reliability Engineering principles at scale, using observability, automation, and incident learnings to materially reduce risk and operational toil

• Operate comfortably in ambiguity, making sound architectural decisions under pressure while staying close to technical detail

• Have experience operating infrastructure for R&D or specialized labs, manufacturing, or other safety critical environments where uptime and recoverability are essential
