Sr. Product Designer, Ordering
Remote - United States
Apply
Afresh, the AI platform for grocery, began by tackling the most complex problem in the industry: fresh, and has evolved into the core AI platform for grocers.
By leveraging proprietary AI designed for high-volatility environments, we empower partners like Albertsons, Meijer, and Wakefern to drive smarter decisions across their entire enterprise.
Following record-breaking 70% revenue growth in 2025, we have scaled to 6 enterprise-grade solutions, with solutions live in over 10% of the U.S. grocery market. Our platform now orchestrates billions of decisions from the store floor to the distribution center and prevented over 200 million pounds of food waste last year alone.
If you're looking for a role where your work directly translates into massive scale and social good, and you want to be part of the team that defines how the world eats, there is no better time to join us.
About the Role
As the Sr. Product Designer for the Ordering team, you'll own the end-to-end experience for a web application used by corporate users who own the grocery replenishment function across tens of thousands of departments nationwide. You'll turn complex AI-driven forecasts into decisions these operators can act on with confidence. You'll work closely with product management, machine learning engineers, and mobile and full-stack engineers to create a holistic end-to-end experience. Your ownership, attention to detail, and your focus on outcomes will directly result in less food waste and real business value.
What You'll Do
Own end-to-end design for a web application for corporate users who own the grocery replenishment function, spanning ordering, exceptions, configuration, and performance.
Design reporting, insights, and performance dashboards, from table stakes today toward conversational, AI-powered analytics.
Design exception-based workflows and controls (ordering, display size, configuration, order policy tuning) that let corporate users manage operations without technical depth.
Shape agentic and conversational experiences that surface AI-powered insights to less-technical customers.
Own shared portal services UX (admin, permissions, authorization, multi-role) that no single team owns today.
Build reusable components and keep UX consistent across portal surfaces.
Ship quickly with the Ordering product and engineering teams using modern AI-assisted tools, and partner with design leadership on cross-product coherence.
Skills and Experience
The following represent the skills and experience our ideal candidate possesses. We encourage all highly-qualified candidates to apply, even if they do not fulfill all the listed criteria.
Senior-level product design experience shipping customer-facing software with measurable outcomes.
Deep enterprise SaaS experience, navigating complex systems and multiple tiers of users.
Product-minded with engineering overlap, comfortable building directly in code rather than handing off static mockups. We think of this as a "design-focused PM or product-focused designer with engineering depth."
Strong systems thinking: reusable patterns and coherent navigation across products and surfaces.
Comfort with modern, AI-assisted tooling for exploration, prototyping, and synthesis. Experience with rapidly creating prototypes using generative coding tools.
Excellent communication and collaboration across product, engineering, and design.
Nice-To-Haves
Experience designing for AI-powered products: conversational interfaces, anomaly detection, and agentic workflows.
Experience designing multi-role, permissions-based, or hierarchical enterprise experiences.
This position is not eligible for sponsorship
Salary Range in US: $138K - $187K + meaningful early-stage equity + benefits

Clutch is expanding its design team. We're looking for a Product Designer to craft intuitive, human-centered experiences that power our lending and loan-application workflows.
This isn't surface-level screen design. You'll work across the full service — the borrower applying, the credit union employee processing the application, and the legacy systems and compliance steps in between. The wins here come from designing end-to-end processes, not just polishing individual screens: simplifying genuinely complex workflows, clarifying high-stakes financial information, and making every step feel effortless and trustworthy.
You'll move fast, own your work, and know when to drive a decision yourself versus when to pull in your PM and engineering partners. And you won't live only in Figma: our designers use AI to prototype, explore, and design — and to ship code for simpler features themselves. AI is core to how this team works and what we build, and we want someone eager to push that further.
About the Team
At Clutch, design isn't just a department — it's the driving force behind our mission. We believe a seamless user experience can empower credit unions to compete and offer superior banking to everyday people. By crafting intuitive experiences, we help credit unions guide their members toward financial freedom.
Our growing design team is fully remote in the U.S. and Brazil. It is diverse, collaborative, ambitious, and empowered to take on our company's biggest challenges.
What You’ll Do
Within 1 Month, you will:
Get oriented fast: Build a strong working understanding of Clutch's lending products, the borrower and operator journeys, and the compliance and legacy-system realities they sit inside, quickly enough to start contributing.
Build relationships and credibility: Establish yourself with the product managers, engineers, and credit union partners you'll work with, and start earning trust as a design leader on the team.
Get hands-on with AI: Ramp on Clutch's AI design tooling and practices, using AI to prototype and explore from week one.
Within 3 Months, you will:
Own a significant area end to end: Take a large, loosely-defined design project from discovery through delivery, defining the problem and scoping the work yourself.
Design & ship real flows: Lead design on a substantial piece of the loan-application experience, reducing friction for borrowers and operators alike.
Build, not just mock: Use AI to create working prototypes, and ship simpler production changes yourself in partnership with engineering.
Drive clarity through research: Run interviews, concept tests, and usability sessions to validate your decisions, and bring the insights back to your partners.
Within 6 Months, you will:
Think in systems: Map full workflows (handoffs, compliance touchpoints, edge cases) and design reusable, scalable patterns rather than one-off screens.
Own a critical, high-stakes workflow: Lead design end to end for a core part of the lending journey (e.g., intake or decisioning), including the ambiguity and cross-team dependencies that come with it.
Shape direction, not just execution: Bring research and data into roadmap and prioritization conversations, influencing what the team builds and why.
Raise the bar on team craft: Drive design critique, share what you're learning about AI-assisted workflows, and help improve process and documentation across the team.
Collaborate with judgment: Partner closely with PMs and engineers as a true thought partner, knowing when to run independently and when to bring partners in to turn user and business needs into production-ready designs.
What You’ll Bring
Experience: 6-8 years as a product designer, with a track record in fintech, SaaS, or other complex, workflow-heavy environments.
AI appetite and fluency: Genuinely excited about AI in design and already putting it to work, using AI to prototype, design, and ship simpler features rather than stopping at static Figma mockups. You'll help set the bar for how the team designs with AI.
Service and systems design: Designs confidently across an end-to-end process (multi-step flows, multiple user types like a borrower and a back-office operator, handoffs, and edge cases) and brings structure to ambiguous, loosely defined problem spaces.
Craft: Excellent visual and interaction design skills, setting a high bar for clear, elegant solutions to multi-step, data-heavy experiences.
User empathy: Skilled at uncovering user needs through research and turning them into design decisions, and at advocating for those needs in roadmap and prioritization conversations.
Partnership judgment: Works fluidly with PMs and engineers as a true thought partner, with strong instincts for when to move autonomously and when to pull partners in.
Autonomy and ownership: Can own large, ambiguous projects end to end, define the problem, scope the work, cut scope sensibly, and drive it to ship without close direction.
Influence and communication: Excellent storytelling, documentation, and presentation skills; explains both the design outcome and the reasoning, and shapes the thinking of partners and stakeholders around them.
Comfort with complexity: Patience and pragmatism working inside regulated workflows, legacy tooling, and real-world constraints, plus the temperament to find those problems interesting.
Elevates the team: Strengthens the craft around them through design critique, mentorship, and improvements to process and documentation.
Please note that this role may evolve as our business needs change, so we appreciate your flexibility and adaptability.
What’s In It For You?
Remote Flexibility: Enjoy the freedom of remote work from anywhere, balancing life and career seamlessly.
Unforgettable Off-Sites: Twice a year, bond with colleagues in exciting destinations, fostering teamwork and fresh ideas.
Paid Time Off: Enjoy flexible PTO days yearly for relaxation and rejuvenation.
Stock Options: Joining us means having a stake in our success, so you'll receive stock options as part of your compensation package.
Home Office Setup: Create your ideal workspace with a dedicated budget for home office essentials.
Work Trip Budget: Grow personally and professionally with a budget for work-related trips and co-working.
Health Coverage: Prioritize your well-being with comprehensive health and dental insurance plans.

ABOUT PRIMER
Primer is a growing network of K–8 schools restoring the timeless foundations of American education. Inspired by the original teaching primers that shaped a nation of readers, thinkers, and builders, our schools begin with what has always worked, and build for what lies ahead. Close-knit learning environments. Skilled educators. A culture that takes kids seriously as learners and leaders.
Primers shaped the first 200 years of American children. Primer will ready them for the next.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Every new Primer campus starts as an empty building in a city where we've never operated. Someone has to turn it into a school fast: pass code, fit the budget, and feel like Primer the moment a kid walks in. That's you. This isn't a support role bolted onto real estate. The pace we open campuses at depends on how fast and how well you can run this process, and the standards you set here get reused at every campus after it.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Site feasibility and pre-construction
- Before Primer signs a lease, you've already run the numbers. You'll lead code analysis and zoning review, coordinate traffic and parking studies, run test fits and space programming, and make the go/no-go call on new sites. You'll also build the diligence playbook, so the next site evaluation takes days, not weeks.
- Permitting and project management
- You'll manage permitting across jurisdictions: building permits, fire life safety, ADA, zoning variances, change of use. You'll run the civil engineers, FLS specialists, and local architects of record on each project, and you'll know the code officials and inspectors in each city well enough that they pick up when you call. You'll juggle several projects at different stages without dropping a deadline.
- FF&E and product specification
- You'll research and spec the furniture, equipment, and branded materials that go into every Primer campus. You'll build a vendor list and product catalog other teams can order from. And you'll find the value engineering wins that save money without cutting corners on the student experience.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- 5+ years in architectural project management, interior design, or something close, with real ownership from design through construction
- Experience building design standards or prototypes for multi-location rollout (a big plus)
- Background in schools, retail, or hospitality, anywhere physical space matters to the people using it
- Deep knowledge of building codes, ADA, fire life safety, zoning, and permitting across multiple jurisdictions
- Fluency in 3D Modeling Software, Adobe Creative Cloud, Adobe InDesign, Autodesk Revit, Bluebeam, or equivalent, plus comfort with project management tools (Asana)
- You'll be producing the standards and playbooks other people build from
- The ability to run multiple projects and vendors at once without losing a thread
WHY THIS ROLE MAY NOT BE A FIT
- You want to design one beautiful building and live in it for a year. This role moves fast across many sites at once, and nothing sits still long enough for that kind of depth.
- You'd rather hand off permitting and consultant management to someone else. Here, you're the one chasing the inspector and keeping the civil engineer on schedule.
- You need a finished playbook to work from. Part of the job is building that playbook as you go, so some of it will be genuinely undefined when you start.
Primer is a mission-first company. We believe our mission is the highest-leverage way we can create positive change. In service of that, we keep work centered on mission execution and avoid social or political activism at work that’s unrelated to the mission. If that energizes you, we’d love to see you apply.
