If you’re energized by high standards, rapid growth, and the opportunity to help define a category at a pivotal moment, come join us!
Juniper Square offers employees a variety of ways to work, ranging from a fully remote experience to working full-time in one of our physical offices. We invest heavily in digital-first https://blog.junipersquare.com/juniper-square-ponders-future-of-office-with-digital-first-hybrid-workplace-strategy/ operations, allowing our teams to collaborate effectively across 27 U.S. states, 2 Canadian Provinces, India, Luxembourg, and England. We also have physical offices in San Francisco, New York City, Mumbai and Bangalore for employees who prefer to work in an office some or all of the time.
ABOUT YOUR ROLE
We are looking for an experienced and autonomous Senior Product Designer to join our team, embedded within a core product squad with broad scope across our platform. This is a high-impact individual contributor role where you will own the end-to-end user experience for your product area, drive meaningful contributions to our design system, and partner closely with product managers and engineers to ship work that makes a real difference for our customers.
AI fluency is a baseline expectation. Designers at this level should be comfortable across the full range of modern design tools, including AI. That might mean starting in an LLM to frame a problem, building a quick prototype in Cursor or Claude Code to explore an interaction, or going to Figma to produce a polished developer reference. The expectation is sound judgment about what will get to the best outcome for the customer and the team.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Own the Work End to End Produce work in whatever form best serves the team and engineering, whether that's annotated flows, coded prototypes, LLM-generated specs with design system context loaded, or Figma files when a polished developer reference is needed. When handing off to engineering, ensure files are complete, accurate, and consistent with our design system. The starting point matters less than the outcome: your output should reflect the kind of judgment and taste that distinguishes considered design from generated templates.
Simplify Complexity Take on hard problems in your product domain and deliver solutions that feel simple. Our users work with sophisticated financial data and workflows. The complexity lives in the craft, not the interface.
Design for AI-Driven Features Contribute to the UX of AI-powered capabilities across our product suite, including proactive recommendations, generative summaries, and predictive insights. Get the trust and transparency details right so these features feel reliable to enterprise customers, not like a black box.
Generate and Apply Insights Conduct research and interpret product analytics to uncover real user needs and measure the impact of your designs. Talk directly with customers, run quick tests, and treat research as a velocity tool rather than a gate.
Lead Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to align on strategy and ensure design execution serves both the business and the user. Own the design relationship with your product area end to end.
Strengthen the Design System Continuously improve and expand our design system, advocating for consistency and pattern reuse across the product suite. Collaborate with peers on the design team to give and receive feedback, raising the collective craft of the organization.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- 4+ years of professional experience as a Product Designer, with a meaningful portfolio of shipped work across the full development lifecycle.
- Proven experience designing for a complex B2B or Enterprise SaaS product, ideally in a data-heavy domain.
- Fluency with modern design and prototyping tools. Figma proficiency is expected, including experience with component libraries, auto-layout, and developer-ready handoff files. Comfort with AI-powered tools (LLMs, Cursor, Claude Code) is equally important, even if you are not writing production code.
- Experience designing for AI/ML-driven features with strong attention to trust, explainability, and error states.
- Demonstrated ability to operate autonomously and deliver high-quality work without requiring significant direction.
- Strong communication skills, written, verbal, and visual, with the ability to clearly articulate design decisions to engineers, PMs, and executives alike.
- A portfolio that showcases deep UX thinking, clear user journeys, and a high degree of visual polish.
Preferred
- Experience contributing to or maintaining a multi-platform design system, including pattern documentation and component creation.
- Background in Financial Services, Investment Management, Real Estate, or adjacent industries.
- A track record of designing complex tables, filters, and data visualization tools.
- Experience planning and running customer interviews or usability tests.
- Based in the SF Bay Area to facilitate in-person collaboration with local teams.
COMPENSATION
Compensation for this position includes a base salary, equity, and a variety of benefits. The U.S. base salary range for this role is $148,000 to $185,000 USD. Listed by Juniper Square for a position based in the United States. Employers on this board attest they are hiring domestically.
At Vanta, our mission is to help businesses earn and prove trust. We believe that security should be monitored and verified continuously, and we empower companies to practice better security and prove it with ease. Vanta has a kind and talented team, and while some have prior security experience, many have been successful at Vanta without it.
Vanta is hiring for a Head of Design (VP) to lead our design organization — setting direction for a ~40-person team, shaping the next generation of AI-native product experiences, and building the quality systems that let great design ship at scale.
The Design team at Vanta shapes how security and compliance teams experience Vanta — from a startup founder building their security program for the first time to an enterprise security team managing hundreds of controls. The org spans all areas of Vanta — GRC, Trust, Platform, Self-serve, and AI — and includes product designers, visual designers, design engineering, content designers, and a user researcher, led by experienced design directors. As AI fundamentally changes what products can do and how they get built, this team is at an inflection point: the right leader will define what it means for a design org to be genuinely AI-forward — enabling designers to move faster, ship more, and contribute to product direction and delivery in new ways.
This is the right role for a design leader who leads with AI fluency, brings strong taste and craft across interaction design and visual design, and has the operational instincts to build the systems that make quality a consistent property of the whole org.
What you’ll do as Head of Design at Vanta:
- Lead a team of ~40 designers and design directors across GRC, Trust, Platform, Self-serve, and AI — setting org-wide direction and enabling each leader to do their best work
- Lead the team building the next generation of agentic, AI-native product experiences — defining what great design looks like as Vanta’s products are increasingly shaped by AI
- Establish an AI-native design practice: evolve agentic UX patterns, redesign team workflows around AI tooling, and define how design engineers and designers collaborate in an AI-first environment
- Bring a strong point of view to design decisions — engaging deeply on interaction design, visual quality, and product direction, and building the trust that allows design decision-making to scale
- Set a clear, shared standard for design quality across Vanta — spanning visual design, interaction design, and AI-enabled experiences — and build the systems that hold that bar consistently: design system, definitions of done, and launch review frameworks
- Drive design as a first mover: shape design direction proactively, establishing the taste and systems that set the pace for the product and the org
- Build strong partnerships with Product and Engineering, establishing shared quality frameworks embedded in how the whole org ships
- Recruit and grow the team — develop existing leadership, maintain a high bar for AI fluency and design craft across every hire, and close capability gaps as the org evolves
How to be successful in this role:
- 15+ years of design experience, with 5+ years leading and scaling large design organizations, with director-level reports
- Deep fluency in interaction design and visual craft — enjoys getting into the weeds, providing precise direction, and holding a high bar for quality across design decisions
- Deep B2B SaaS experience — understanding the constraints of building for SMB and enterprise customers, complex workflows, multi-user products, and platform-level design challenges
- Org-level AI fluency: has built AI tooling, workflows, and cultural adoption into a design team’s practice, enabling teams to ship more and move faster; has a clear point of view on how AI changes design roles and team structure
- Proven track record building quality systems: design system ownership, definitions of done, launch review processes, and quality frameworks built in partnership with Product and Engineering
- Has led design through a company inflection point — navigates ambiguity, adapts the org, and maintains quality and momentum when the business is changing fast
- Strong XFN leadership — trusted by product and engineering counterparts, navigates fast-moving and opinionated exec environments, and drives alignment on shared outcomes
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for current or future employer sponsorship.
- Responsible for protecting Vanta and customer data in how your team operates and delivers results.
- Open to using AI to amplify their skills and strengthen their work - demonstrating curiosity, a willingness to learn, and sound judgment in applying AI responsibly to improve efficiency and impact.
What you can expect as a Vanta’n:
- Industry-competitive salary and equity
- Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, with 100% of employee-only benefit premiums covered for most medical plans
- 16 weeks fully-paid Parental Leave for all new parents
- Health & wellness stipend
- Remote workspace, internet, and cellphone stipend
- Commuter benefits for team members who report to the SF and NYC office
- Family planning benefits
- Matching 401(k) contribution with immediate vesting
- Flexible PTO policy, plus 80 hours of Sick Time
- 11 company-paid holidays
- Virtual team building activities, lunch and learns, and other company-wide events!
- Offices in SF, NYC, London, Dublin, Tel Aviv, and Sydney
To provide greater transparency to candidates, we share base pay ranges for all US-based job postings regardless of state. We set standard base pay ranges for all roles based on function, level, and country location, benchmarked against similar-stage growth companies. As an equal opportunity employer, we encourage and welcome people of all backgrounds to apply.
About Vanta
We started in 2018, in the wake of several high-profile data breaches. From our early days automating security monitoring for compliance standards like SOC 2, HIPAA and ISO 27001 to creating the world's leading Trust Management Platform, our vision remains unchanged.
Now more than ever, making security continuous—not just a point-in-time check— is essential. Thousands of companies rely on Vanta to build, maintain and demonstrate their trust— all in a way that's real-time and transparent.
