Software Engineer, AI Enablement
About the role
As a Software Engineer on the AI Enablement team, you will contribute to the internal platforms, primitives, and guardrails that make AI a trusted co-pilot for employees across Chime.
You'll work on systems like Archimedes, Bosun, and easyRAG that power internal AI assistants, developer workflows, and retrieval-backed applications. These platforms make it easier for teams across the company to build, adopt, and scale LLM-powered tools safely and effectively.
This team defines Chime's golden paths for AI: opinionated but flexible patterns that help teams move quickly while maintaining safety, reliability, cost control, and governance. In this role, you'll build on and extend these patterns — shipping real features on production AI platforms while developing your depth in AI-specific engineering practices.
You'll collaborate with Platform Engineering, Security, Risk, Legal, and product teams to build scalable, well-governed systems that support internal AI use cases from early prototyping through production adoption.
The base salary offered for this role and level of experience will begin at $133,000.00 and up to $184,000.00. Full-time employees are also eligible for a bonus, competitive equity package, and benefits. The actual base salary offered may be higher, depending on your location, skills, qualifications, and experience.
In this role, you can expect to
- Contribute to and extend internal AI platforms such as Archimedes, Bosun, and easyRAG, helping teams develop and scale LLM-powered applications and workflows
- Build reusable platform capabilities such as APIs, SDKs, templates, and shared services that make it easier to develop safe, high-quality AI-powered tools
- Prototype and productionize new AI capabilities alongside senior engineers, turning successful patterns into durable platform features
- Apply Chime's golden path patterns for LLM usage, and help refine them as you deepen familiarity with the systems
- Build features that let teams launch AI-powered assistants and workflows in a standardized, observable, and governed way
- Learn and apply evaluation, observability, and cost-management practices across AI systems — including quality, latency, safety, and spend
- Partner with Security, Risk, and Legal to implement guardrails for responsible AI development and usage
- Collaborate with engineers across Chime to embed AI into internal tools, workflows, and employee experiences
To thrive in this role, you have
- Experience as a software engineer with a track record of shipping production-quality features in a distributed system or platform environment
- Hands-on experience working with LLMs or ML services, or strong curiosity and a demonstrated ability to ramp quickly into AI-specific tooling
- Solid coding skills in at least one of Python, Go, or TypeScript/JavaScript, with comfort working across services, CLIs, and internal tooling
- An emerging platform mindset: you think about reuse and building for more than one consumer, not just solving the immediate problem
- Familiarity with — or eagerness to learn — AI-specific engineering concerns such as evaluation, prompt and version management, observability, cost control, safety, and data privacy
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical tradeoffs to teammates and cross-functional partners

You'll bring structure to ambiguity, connect teams around shared goals, and lead complex programs from strategy through execution, ensuring meaningful business outcomes while continuously improving how work gets done.
You'll work closely with teams across OMX and collaborate with partners across Product, Engineering, Risk, Compliance, Marketing, Analytics, Legal, and other organizations to solve complex operational challenges. Beyond delivering programs, you'll identify opportunities to leverage AI, automation, and scalable operating practices that reduce manual effort, increase organizational capacity, and enable teams to focus on the highest-value work.

- Lead end-to-end ownership of OMX's highest-priority strategic initiatives, delivering measurable business impact through exceptional program leadership.
- Bring structure to ambiguity by developing clear execution plans, aligning stakeholders, and driving complex initiatives from strategy through delivery with minimal oversight.
- Anticipate risks, proactively adapt to changing business priorities, and ensure programs remain on track through thoughtful planning, governance, and operational rigor.
- Build compelling, data-driven narratives and executive communications that drive alignment, influence decision-making, and accelerate progress across the organization.
- Partner directly with senior leaders and cross-functional teams to drive accountability, solve complex operational challenges, and deliver scalable solutions that advance OMX's strategic priorities.
- Continuously observe how teams across OMX operate, identifying patterns, inefficiencies, and opportunities beyond your assigned programs. Partner with SOTO to leverage AI, automation, and scalable operating practices that simplify workflows, increase organizational capacity, and improve how OMX executes at scale.
- Champion a culture of continuous improvement by introducing scalable operating mechanisms, strengthening program governance, and helping teams execute with greater speed, clarity, and efficiency.
To thrive in this role, you have:

- Exceptional program management skills with a proven ability to design simple, scalable solutions for complex business problems and lead initiatives from strategy through execution.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with experience developing executive-level communications and presenting to senior leaders across the organization.
- Demonstrated success leading highly cross-functional initiatives and influencing outcomes without direct authority.
- An ownership mindset with the ability to independently identify challenges, proactively manage risks, and execute with minimal guidance in fast-paced environments.

Software Engineer, Infrastructure
About the role
You'd be joining the Data Infra team — a small, high-leverage team within Chime's Infrastructure Engineering org. We build and operate the foundational platform that Data Engineering relies on to run their workflows reliably at scale: from deploying Airflow and Flink environments to owning the DynamoDB and RDS infrastructure that powers Chime's data platform. This is a generalist role where you'll touch both pillars — the data engineering deployment layer and the storage layer — so you'll never be bored. If you get energy from building durable foundations that other engineers build on top of, this team is for you.
The base salary offered for this role and level of experience will begin at $133,000.00 and up to $184,000.00. Full-time employees are also eligible for a bonus, competitive equity package, and benefits. The actual base salary offered may be higher, depending on your location, skills, qualifications, and experience.
In this role, you can expect to
- Build and maintain deployment infrastructure for Data Engineering workflows, including Airflow, Flink, and chalk.ai environments
- Own and operate Chime's core storage technologies — DynamoDB and RDS — serving both data engineering and platform teams
- Write infrastructure-as-code using Terraform and manage workloads on Kubernetes in production
- Partner closely with Data Engineering to translate their needs into scalable, reliable infrastructure solutions
- Drive reliability improvements across the platform — observability, capacity planning, and operational hygiene
- Participate in the full lifecycle of infrastructure changes: design, build, test, and ship
- Help shape how the Data Infra team scales its practices as Chime grows
To thrive in this role, you have
- 2–4 years of software engineering experience with a focus on infrastructure, platform, or backend systems
- Hands-on production experience with Terraform and Kubernetes
- Familiarity with AWS, particularly managed database services like DynamoDB and RDS
- Strong programming skills in Python or a similar language
- A systems-thinking mindset — you design for reliability, scalability, and maintainability from the start
- The ability to work autonomously on ambiguous problems and communicate clearly across teams
- Experience with data ingestion and ETL pipelines is a strong plus
