Our users are diverse, and we are committed to embracing diversity of thought and experience within our team.
We’re looking for a Data Migration Engineer (ETL Developer) to join our team. You’ll be at the heart of the customer transition experience, designing and executing complex data migrations that enable agencies to adopt Mark43’s systems with confidence. You’ll work across internal teams and with external partners to help deliver clean, meaningful, and high-quality data into Mark43 products.
This role is a great fit for someone who thrives on solving complex puzzles, is energized by working with public safety data, and enjoys balancing technical depth with customer-facing collaboration.
What you can expect to work on:
If you were part of our team last week, you would have:
Designed and executed a SQL-based ETL process to migrate decades of public safety data from a legacy system into the Mark43 platform
Collaborated with our data migration contractors, reviewing technical deliverables and providing guidance to help them succeed
Met with a customer’s records management team to understand their legacy data structure and translate it to the Mark43 schema
Dug into a uniquely formatted source database to uncover edge cases and ensure data fidelity
Worked alongside Mark43 deployment, engineering, and product teams to iterate on and improve our migration tooling and process
Balanced project timelines and quality standards while maintaining strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
What we expect from you:
We’re looking for a data migration engineer with 2+ years of experience in ETL development or SQL-based data engineering roles. You should have a comprehensive understanding of data migration processes and be comfortable owning projects from discovery through delivery. Your attention to detail and ability to navigate ambiguity will be key to success.
People who thrive on our team also tend to share the following traits:
Curious and resourceful. You enjoy figuring out how systems work and how to make them work better.
Clear and collaborative. You communicate technical details to non-technical stakeholders and work well across teams.
Committed to quality. You take pride in your work and sweat the details.
Qualifications:
2+ years of experience in a data migration, ETL development, or SQL development role
Deep understanding of SQL and relational database design
Demonstrated experience writing complex SQL scripts
Ability to analyze and translate legacy data models into new schemas
Experience managing contractor deliverables is a plus
Interest in public safety data and the impact of high-quality migrations on customer success
Prior work with public safety or government systems is a bonus
What you can expect from us:
Constant collaboration with numerous Mark43 teams, including Global Services, Engineering, and Product
Building mission critical and socially responsible software to enable first responders to better serve their communities
A team that respects and embraces your ideas and expertise
Coworkers that are motivated by pursuing excellence, rather than the prospect of personal gain
A workplace dedicated to supporting and bettering public safety and government agencies
We feel passionately about equal pay for equal work, and transparency in compensation is one vehicle to achieve that. Total compensation for this role is market competitive, including a target base annual salary range of $80,000 - $110,000, plus bonus opportunity, company stock options, and a full benefits package, including health insurance, paid time off, and a 401k with a company match. Please note that the higher end of this range will be reserved for candidates with appropriate experience who reside in high cost of labor locations.

DevOps Engineer, DevEx
Location: New York, Remote
Type: Full Time
Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the country in which the role is being hired. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa at this time.
Mark43’s mission is to empower communities and their governments with new technologies that improve the safety and quality of life for all. We build powerful, scalable, and elegant software that sets a new standard for the tools upon which our first responders rely. Our users are diverse, and we are therefore committed to embracing diversity of thought and experience within our team.
The Mark43 law enforcement platform delivers mission-critical services to agencies across the country. When our systems are unavailable, real-world safety is impacted. As a Platform Engineer, you will take ownership of critical platform capabilities that ensure our systems are reliable, scalable, and equally important: enable engineers to build, deploy, and operate software with speed and confidence.
In this role, you will operate at the intersection of platform engineering and developer experience (DevEx). You will design and evolve internal platforms as products, reducing friction across the software development lifecycle while maintaining strong standards for reliability, security, and compliance.
While this role includes opportunities to work on observability systems, prior experience in observability platforms is not required - we value engineers who can learn quickly and apply strong platform fundamentals.
You’ll use tools like Terraform, Kubernetes, Helm, ArgoCD, and DataDog to build scalable platform primitives and improve developer workflows across the organization.
What you’ll work on
Owning and evolving Mark43's internal developer platform, focusing on reliability, scalability, and developer productivity
Building self-service platform capabilities (Infrastructure-as-Code modules, GitOps workflows, golden paths, and onboarding templates)
Improving developer experience (DevEx) by reducing friction in local development, CI/CD pipelines, deployments, and debugging workflows
Designing and optimizing pipeline-as-code systems to improve build performance, reliability, and feedback cycles
Driving adoption of GitOps and Infrastructure as Code best practices across the organization
Leading initiatives to improve operational excellence, including system reliability, resilience, and incident response
Partnering closely with Product, Engineering, and Security teams to align platform capabilities with business needs
Owning and delivering large, cross-team platform initiatives that shape how engineers build and operate software at MARK43
Participating in a shared on-call rotation to support critical infrastructure
What we expect from you
5+ years of experience in Platform Engineering, DevOps, and/or Developer Experience
Strong experience with AWS and cloud-native architectures
Deep experience with Kubernetes and containerized systems
Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and GitOps (e.g., ArgoCD)
Experience building and optimizing CI/CD systems and pipeline-as-code workflows
Demonstrated ability to improve developer experience and platform usability at scale.
Strong systems thinking, including tradeoffs between reliability, cost, and developer velocity
Understanding of security and compliance best practices in cloud environments
What sets you apart
You take ownership of complex platform problems, from design through adoption
You build platforms and abstractions that are adopted across engineering teams
You proactively identify gaps in developer workflows and drive improvements
You influence technical direction beyond your immediate team
You balance developer velocity, reliability, and operational excellence
You treat internal platforms as products, with a focus on usability and impact
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with defining SLOs, alerting strategies, instrumentation best practices
Experience with developer platforms and modern build systems
Experience improving local development environments (e.g., devcontainers, Docker workflows, Tilt/Skaffold)
Exposure to FinOps practices and cost optimization
Experience integrating AI/LLM capabilities into developer workflows, such as:
AI-assisted debugging or incident triage
Automated incident summaries or developer assistants
Knowledge of compliance and data governance requirements in regulated environments
What you can expect from us
A team that values your ideas, ownership, and technical leadership
The opportunity to build mission-critical software that directly impacts public safety
Career growth in an environment that recognizes and rewards impact
A highly collaborative culture across Platform, Product, Engineering, Security, and Technical Services
Location
Our team is distributed across the United States, with offices in New York, Boston, and Manchester, UK. We are a remote-friendly company and support candidates working from approved states.
Compensation
We believe in equal pay for equal work and transparency in compensation. Total compensation for this role is market competitive, including a base salary range of $140,000–$170,000, plus bonus, equity, and a comprehensive benefits package.

Before applying to a remote role, please ensure that you are able to perform the position in one of the states listed above. Manager, Strategic Sourcing & Vendor Management
Location: New York, Boston, Remote
Type: Full Time
Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the country in which the role is being hired. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa at this time.
Mark43’s mission is to empower communities and their governments with new technologies that improve the safety and quality of life for all. We build powerful, scalable, and elegant software that sets a new standard for the tools upon which our first responders rely. Our users are diverse, and we are therefore committed to embracing diversity of thought and experience within our team.
We are looking for a Manager, Strategic Sourcing & Vendor Management to join our Finance team. This is an individual contributor role focused on the technology and services side of procurement—driving smarter sourcing, vendor management, and operational rigor across our SaaS ecosystem and key service partnerships. You’ll build and run scalable, secure, and cost-effective purchasing processes that keep pace with a fast-growing software company.
What You’ll Do
If you were part of our team, here are some things you would have done last week:
Build and implement a strategic sourcing framework that drives efficiency, compliance, and agility in purchasing software, cloud services, and business partnerships.
Oversee procurement operations to ensure all requests flow smoothly through the right reviews and approval paths while meeting SLAs for speed and compliance.
Partner with our CISO and IT teams to ensure software purchases are secure, complementary to our existing stack, and optimized for cost—eliminating duplicative spend and maximizing vendor leverage.
Serve as system admin for Zip, maintaining and improving workflows that guide stakeholders through each stage of the SaaS and services procurement lifecycle.
Advise business partners on procurement policy and best practices, ensuring expectations are managed and decisions align with company standards.
Collaborate with Engineering and Finance to monitor and optimize cloud spend, surfacing insights that drive budget efficiency.
What You’ll Need
We’re looking for a strategic sourcing professional who has built or supported procurement in a scaling SaaS or tech-driven environment. You should be comfortable navigating a cloud-based vendor landscape, managing sourcing decisions, and improving workflows through tools and cross-functional collaboration. Familiarity with Zip or similar procurement platforms is highly preferred.
You’ll Thrive Here If You’re:
Analytical and data-driven: you bring structure and insight to decisions that impact spend and efficiency.
A strong communicator: you know how to align stakeholders, explain processes clearly, and build buy-in.
Curious and collaborative: you understand the “why” behind purchasing decisions and use that to drive better outcomes.
Location
We are open to fully remote individuals based on the East Coast.
Compensation
We feel passionately about equal pay for equal work, and transparency in compensation is one vehicle to achieve that. Total compensation for this role is market-competitive, including a target base salary of $100,000–$160,000, plus a 8-10% bonus opportunity, company stock options, and a full benefits package (health, PTO, 401(k), etc.). The higher end of this range will be reserved for candidates with relevant experience in high-cost-of-labor markets.

Before applying to a remote role, please ensure that you are able to perform the position in one of the states listed above.
